People's will = EU + (Kosovo - UDI). (Bob, 15 May 2008 18:47)

you are right, Bob. with this formula the DS list became nr. one in Serbia. SJS said the same, by the way.

only SRS and DS & Co. argumented against the SAA and therefor agains the EU before the elections. with this they lost some 100.000s of votes, by the way.

The US ambassador seems to be living in the 90'! His opinion is NO MORE credible than that of the Albanian Ambassador to the ..US when it refers to Serbian matters!
They are applying the same method than in Palestine.. Hamas got MORE votes but as it is "HAMAS".. 130.. in THIS CASE is LESS THAN 102!!! Come on..US!! You have lost in the past 7 years the support of more than 95% of the WORLD!! Only the Goverments of France (now), England Germany and Italy are backing Kosovos Independance, but NOT THE PEOPLE!! SERBIA MUST STAND BY HER REAL FRIENDS!! RUSSIA and CHINA.. They will not let SERBIA down! They are among the 3 most richest countries in the world and hold the greatest monetary reserves!! Apart from that they have ... NO.. absolutely ..NO .. Depts with the WORLD BANK!! GO ahead.. Make the EU .. Tremble.. they have NO "PLAN B"... this time!!

serbia, like bosnia, has more elections than you can shake a stick at, but with each new election, there seem to be less and less democratic values. so apparently voting doesn't necessarily equal democracy and respect for democratic values. how many times was slobo re-elected? -- and as my frnd used to say, after the nato intervention, he could have been "democratically" elected and won 105% of the vote... still you are trying, i guess, and i should try to be supportive...

meanwhile, HOT NEWS from my (adopted) state of california: the california supreme court, in a 4 - 3 decision, has cleared the way for same-sex couples to marry, in about 30 days from now. so that is a great civil rights victory! for california, and for all of humanity. and there is no residency requirement, so come to california, come to san francisco and get hitched! it may not be recognized in your neck of the woods, but we are on the cutting edge. how long this lasts is anybody's guess, so you'd better hurry!

i've said it many times -- you have to struggle for your human rights wherever you are, for democracy and respect. once in a while, you may even have some success :))

US&EU contributed largly on this situation with their unilateral recognition of Kosovo, least to say. They pushed Serbia away from them, towards Russia. Don't know if that was stupid or they had different priorities but in the end at least they should have some decency not to act surprised on this result.

Do you remember that Al Gore earned more votes than George Bush. But it was Bush who became president of the US with the disastrous consequences that we know and I can't recall at this moment or another having heard something about a Mr Munter stating that it “wouldn’t be in line with the people’s will at the elections.”

Wow. I don't know which part of this article to pick apart first, since everything Munter said is a complete lie.

Munter needs a strong dose of truth. The majority of the Serbian people did not choose EU membership at any cost, but only with ALL of Serbia intact - do the math Cameron.
Also, Cameron buddy, when you have anti-Serbian policies designed to destroy the country for the past 15 years, to make it smaller, demonize it, support a fifth column inside that country to help you rape it, when you give the right to self-determination to all ethnic groups except Serbs, when you blatantly interfere into Serbian internal affairs by bribing the country to support Solana's boys, when you trample on international law.....then you don't have a say as to what kind of government will be formed in Serbia! That is up to the Serbian people, and you have shown by your actions that you are their enemy. So please, keep flapping your gums, because whatever you recommend Serbs will realize their best course is to do the exact opposite!
Cheers!!

America's ideas about democracy are clear enough. A government that takes orders from Washington D.C. is "democratic". A government that does not take its marching orders from Washington is "autocratic", "dictatorial", "undemocratic", "nationalistic", "ultra-nationalistic", etc...

The Yank don't have to worry about for in Serbia there are no pro-African or pro-Asian parties. The only question is wether Serbia will be WITHIN Europe or BENEATH Europe. As simple as that !

Oh, all the spin coming from the US/EU and DS. I'm getting a little dizzy. The people voted pro-Serbia and that should be made pretty clear soon.

But based on Munter's arguement, the world is overwhelmingly against Kosovo independence. So is the US now going to reverse recognition?

The Americans have invested too much money in Tadic & Co for them to allow him to fall quite so easily.

If the SRS-DSS-NS-SPS form a coalition then we can expect a propaganda barrage from the Western Oligarchs media outlets (BBC, CNN, B92, etc) claiming that the will of the Serbian people has not been respected.

Michael Thomas - and no doubt if we have a DS victory we in Serbia will have to put up with the gutter press such as Kurir and Pravda, financed by sections of the secret services, to pollute the Serbian people with their propaganda, bile, bitterness and conspiracy theories.

Lucky for you that you only have to see it from a western perspective.

Given that it “wouldn’t be in line with the people’s will at the elections.”

Is this guy for real? Does he know how to count? What business is it of his anyway?
The pro-European coalation gathered 39% of the vote, how does this make it the majority? The SPS, DSS, and SRS combined tally around 50%,
so who is in the majority now?
Munter, mind your own business and let the Serbian peolple resolve their own problems. We have seen what your country has done in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somolia, and just about everywhere they have shoved their nose in. Yankee go home!!!

RE:

Munter said that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) in a coalition with the pro-European parties could contribute to the country’s European future, while he deemed the possibility of a SRS-DSS-SPS coalition “surprising,” given that it “wouldn’t be in line with the people’s will at the elections.”

The SRS-DSS-SPS is speaking for the majority of the Serbian public that voted and it does not necessarily mean a "NO" to the EU.

It is not "surpising" but a reflection of the people in Serbia who cast there votes.

What is surprsing is the un-democratic and irresponsible remarks coming from the US consulate which continues to meddle in the internal affairs of the Serbian government.

What is more "undemocratic" is the American Electoral system which is essentiay a totalitarian system run by two parties, the Republicans and Democrats. All other parties are restricted by money and capital and cannot fairly run in this so called democratic republic.
