Hey neighbors,
With John's and similar ideas you won't go to far, when I say you I mean Serbia. Honestly speaking, the biggest favor that can be done to Kosova at this moment is to have a radical government in Belgrade.
If there will be no one to negotiate in Belgrade, who is going to hear silly arguments such as Kosova je Serbija and Serbija je Kosova.

The SPS coalition is playing their hand exceptionally well. They know they have Serbia's attention, and they know they are the proverbial kingmakers in any coalition they enter into.

While I hold little love for the part of Milosevic, I do acknowledge the strategic moves Dacic is making.

First, he is turning not to Nikolic, the assumed majority of one coalition, but to Kostunica, the man all roads apparently still lead to. Dacic is wisely getting out all the offers a DSS-SRS coalition could offer, which at this point, is practically everything but the keys to Belgrade itself.

However, I feel Dacic will then take his offer across the way to Tadic, slide the paper across the table and say "beat this. If you can offer me something better than what Kostunica is offering, I'll join your government. If not, I've got Vojo on speed-dial."

SPS is now in a win-win situation. Ideaologically, they are a better fit with DSS-SRS, and, I'm afraid to admit, a coalition with SPS seems far more stable than with ZES et al.

Yet at the same time, the SPS is now presented with a golden opportunity to both extract concessions from Tadic in order to enter a coalition, as well as shed the mantle of Milosevic that has placed their party in irrelevancy for 8 years.

A week ago, none of us would have even imagined the SPS would be in any position to bargain the way it is now.

Hi "Michael",

It's a pleasure to respond to you. I often sign my full name, place of current residence, and e-mail address when I contribute to Internet comment sites here in the US, in Japan where I lived previously, or in Belgrade, where I am preparing to resettle my family. I do this to underline the fact that I associate my person and identity with my views and that I am expressing my true views openly and publicly rather than saying something through a cloak of anonymity that some might use to express views that they either do not have the courage to express openly or are only contributing in "agent provocateur" efforts to disrupt the discussion.

I certainly do not expect anyone to give greater weight to my views because I am sending them from this provincial village (Washington, DC) that purports to be the capital of the world, nor to suggest that my "intellect" is the product of this corrupt place (I was educated in my native Canada, thank goodness!), nor to suggest that the world outside Washington is bad (quite the contrary!).

"Michael" if you have the very good fortune to be writing from Belgrade, may I take this opportunity to salute you for being on the scene at the critical time! I hope to join you and my fellow Serbs in Serbia there this summer, and when I do, you will be able to see "Belgrade, Serbia" under my name and that should be a cue for you to e-mail me so that we can continue this discussion over a coffee...

I think, they should get a chance to prove what their promises are worth, it seems it is the only way to show how qualified they are. some more lost years after 3 lost decades, 100.000s of economy refugees worldwide, but you ask for heroes. what an irony.

Check the Western media coverage of this story. They are telling us that Dacic's Socialists are on the verge of forming a government with Tadic, a man with whom B92 tells us they have not even begun any discussions.

The interesting point in this story is Socialist Dacic's alleged demand for the rehabilitation of Milosevic's family. If the DS leader Tadic agrees to this it could only happen with the consent of his NATO puppet masters. That would indicate desperation on NATO's part. That desperation would be related to not just their failed Kosovo project (less than 25% of the world recognizes it) but more importantly about their fear of losing the whole of Serbia.

This fear should empower the Serbian nation to stand up and shake their false perception that they are the weaker party in this struggle. (The home team always had the advantage -- see Iraq.)

The fact is that if the Democratic Party can be surgically removed right now from the structures of government in Belgrade City Hall as well as in the Serbian Parliament, the Serbia people will have succeeded in cutting off these foreign-paid lackeys from their ability to misuse public funds for their political purposes and will be able to block the flood of US-EU financing for the "NGO" shadow government that has been running Serbia since the illegal coup against Milosevic in 2000.

Left to their own devices to compete on a level playing field with other political parties in Serbia without CIA/Soros/EU backing, Tadic's DS will shrink in size and absurd US State Department front organizations like Cedomir Jovanovic's LDP will disappear altogether.

Then the time will be ripe to erase the Western-indoctrination programs from RTS (Radio Television Serbia) and to restore a free media in the newspaper press as well, where foreign "investors" (US-EU) now pull all the strings.

Dacic knows that if the Western lackeys could eliminate him from the picture (at the ballot box or via the Hague) they certainly would. And he also knows that if he allies himself with Tadic's DS they will dump him at the first opportunity. These very real dangers are simply not worth risking merely to get a temporary stamp of approval from NATO for a reformed Socialist Party. Dacic knows firsthand how the West deceived Milosevic by offering him carrots until they opted for the bombing "stick" in 1999.

Dacic has the choice of becoming a Serbian hero and emerging from the shadow of Milosevic in his own right by joining the patriotic coalition with the Radicals and Kostunica. Or he has the option of becoming a temporary darling (political whore) on the arm of NATO's agents until they can find the opportunity to eliminate him from the scene forever.

Serbia is standing up along with nations around the world who are tired of this sole-superpower era of pseudo-colonial states remote-controlled from Washington. I expect Dacic to become a leader in this movement. If he misses this opportunity he will simply fade into obscurity and miss this INEVITABLE historic liberating wave backed by Russia, China and India for the benefit of Serbia and all other US-controlled pseudo-states in the world today.

History is calling you Ivica Dacic. Will you answer the call?

Best regards to the present and future heros of Serbia!

Does anyone know what is really going on? I just read on another site that the SPS and DS coalition is immenent, and a deal has been struck. I find that difficult to believe because Dacic has only spoken to the DSS unless he has been in contact with the DS privately. If it is true, then Dacic just sold his soul to the devil. This hipe about the opportunity for the SPS to rejuvinate and take a new direction is nonsense, because they can achieve that and more in a coalation with the DSS and SRS while maintaining their party's platform.

I have always agreed with the principle of social justice and fairness in society, I can't be certain how much Tadic believes it, but if he follows this principle he has my support.

He also has my complete support regarding the constant petty name calling and dividing of Serbia between alleged patriots and traitors etc.

Serbia is weighed down by historical divisions as he pointed out and he is right to remain above the fray. It says a lot more about the people making the insults rather than the target of the insults. The solving of concrete, real problems is where the emphasis should lie.

My concern though is that certain individuals will be allowed to evade justice simply based on the fact that they were the wife and the son of the former SPS leader. Social justice should mean that all citizens are equal in the eyes of the law.

No special favours for Mira Markovic and Marko Milosevic.

Well you guys can line up and attack him from a Serb and Albanian perspective but I agree with him.

I am always intrigued when people, in writing responses, feel the need to indicate that they are writing from the "UK," or from "Washington," or from "Sydney," or wherever else. Evidently this tactic elevates their comments into some superior plane, and we should all bow to their vast intellects which have been forged in such exotic locales.

Except, of course, that in writing from abroad about how bad the rest of the world is, they are not only unfamiliar with the reality of the situation in Serbia, they are also completely bereft of credibility.

an eagle needs a left wing and a right one for to fly ... that's logocal. okay, maybe, it does not need two heads and something which keeps all that together ... the metapher explains the state of Serbia at the moment. and I think, it can fly for a while. Kostunica is the guarantee that this experiment will not last for long - the past has shown that. the eagle will fly just in circles - but never reach a target on straight way.

You can't be more right Michel.

If they are so patriots why are they living in UK, Washington or whatever, instead of living in the “Holy "Serbian"’ Kosova?

“The DS’s response is that SPS would then have to agree to cooperate fully with the Hague Tribunal, writes the daily.”

Socialists have nothing to hide from Hague Tribunal anymore after Milosevic “closed” the Hague case by himself. I don’t see any reason why they can not take that as opportunity to redeem themselves on the Serbia political arena. This is once in lifetime opportunity. They will take it.

dispite your polemic speech draft, did you want to say anything? your "heroes" have lost city government after just one period, the have lost some 100.000 votes - of course it is legitimate they create a leadership, but for how long will that last? what lasted longer than 3 years, when it was headed by Kostunica? why was SRS voted out in Novi Sad? it is the beginning of a new period of isolation of your heroes. I think, they should get a chance to prove what their promises are worth, it seems it is the only way to show how qualified they are. some more lost years after 3 lost decades, 100.000s of economy refugees worldwide, but you ask for heroes. what an irony.

All what is missing is - revival of Milosevic... And who knows, may be he will be able to revive Arkan, release Seselj, revive the other his comrades!!! Don't be surprised! The only surprise in this story is DEMOCRATIC TADIC...

The pro-Serbian bloc will win and the traitor-bloc can go for a walk, to the €U or wherever they feel comfortable,if they want to. They have done enough evil already.

Until then, best regards,

Hey neighbors,
With John's and similar ideas you won't go to far, when I say you I mean Serbia. Honestly speaking, the biggest favor that can be done to Kosova at this moment is to have a radical government in Belgrade.
If there will be no one to negotiate in Belgrade, who is going to hear silly arguments such as Kosova je Serbija and Serbija je Kosova.

Ben #5. You seem to have a problem with chetniks.

Chetniks were, if you care to check, an army loyal to the king. Now if you think than monarchy is not democratic that's a problem you will have to look into, but in my book it's better than taking a picture with Stalin.

"and to get down to serious work, to solve the problems of the country and its citizens,“ Tadić stressed"

- while in the meantime D yeS will just turn a total blind eye and be complicit on what the EU are getting upto in Kosovo & metohija through their illicit adoption of Ahtisaari and al that it entails against Serbia's Sovereignty. Moreover DS & Co. will accept every new condition demanded by the EU such as the expectation of the Belguim Forign Minister and all other EU states who have acted against Serbia's sovereignty. Lets recall SAA was initialled in Nov - why did the EU wait to change its mind until after illegality?

Belguim FM De grucht let the cat out of the bag when he said publically;

“My understanding is that we’ve only signed the agreement with Serbia itself, without Kosovo,”

- that is the sentiment and view shared by the rest of the EU states who act illegally - what has Tadic done to rebuff this attack on Serbia's sovereignity - big fat nothing!!!
ompa he way EU reacts in upholding sovereignity for Georgia - on the peripehry of geographical Europe let alone well and truly in the centre!! Solano and more recently Rupel have gone on record to state;

""The European Union reiterates its full commitment for ensuring territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and will continue to strive for peaceful resolution of disputes," Rupel said after the meeting, according to the Slovenian Foreign Ministry."

- ET TU EU...

What exactly has Tadic done and said to the EU to protect and uphold Serbia's sovereignity especially given that the Czechs believe after 'for Europe' list doing well it gives them confidence to act illegally against UN laws and resolutions and even their own Presidents wishes!!!

Tadic says to get down to serious problems for the country - but what "country" does he actually mean????

Tadic appears like the most cynical and shameless politician of recent Serbian history ! He is ready to share any kind of ideollogy as long as it would help him to stay in power. SPS are not going to swallow that!?...

Mike

Do you see the flawed logic here Michael? I agree with you when you say that us foreigners can not be as familiar with the situation in Serbia as the local inhabitants. By adding that little "DK" to my name, I clearly indicate that my opinion is based on capitalist media reports and not from personal experience in Serbia or Kosovo. And that it is coming from a person living in an EU & NATO country. Hence my opinion is probably biased (like everyone else), but at least that little "DK" gives the reader a chance to apply his/her own judgement in which way I might be biased.

It might also explain why I sometime have to ask apparently stupid questions like why there were both local and parliamentary elections at the same time...

there is definitively a big confusion of values in Serbia.

Peggy you are posting in an article where the Socialist Party with (social values- did he explained what he means about these values, whatever that's peripheral issue in Serbia) is going in coalition with Chetniks.

Now tale me what a big mess of values you have Peggy.

You Serbs are giving me/us such a precious assists ;)
