From Russian point of view the result is largely neutral because no matter what, Serbia was, is and will be one of the largest sympatisant of Russia in Europe.

The entire "European Way" versus "Russian Way" thing is of course bull's dropping, creation of some politicians and media in the States and E.U. But it sounds dramatic.

After the election results (strong DS but "menacing", "dangerous" SRS) Serbia still has good chances to ride on that wave and demand more carrots.

Personally, I am very reluctant to vote populists and radicals, but time will tell. We live in very interesting time, unfortunately.

"adding that Russia “is not inclined to meddle in internal processes in other countries, as should be the policy of all other countries."

Aha. Transnistria? Abhazia? Ossetia? Must be soviet sense of humor.

Everything Lavrov said is quite correct though everybody knows our sympathy has always been not on Tadic's side. Russia's open neutrality was a form of a respect for the Serbs as a nation. To my private disapointment Russia never even hinted that we are interested in the success of SRS+++ ! Meanwhile all Russian Mass Media more or less open supported the Radicals and Kostunica.

Still these words of Lavrov are usually said by the winners at their first press conferences. Every new president will tell that he is to take care for all including those to vote against. Therefore Lavrov seems to be quite satisfied with the developments in Serbia. So do I.

For many reasons Russia's support for Serbia since now will be increasing to become desisive. I am sure during his visit to Chine Medvedev will no dobt raise the question together with the getting angry China. Then the same thing will happen during his visit to Germany. So the battle just starts with our chances to succeed as very high.

How nice of Mr. Lavrov to realise that there is actually a real democracy in Serbia and that voters decide who will be President and Prime Minister.

Maybe the "Sesame Street Politics of "Ernie and Bert" in Russia could learn alot from this.

At the end of the day Serbia will form a government of the peoples choice and will continue on its path towards EU Intergration, Which is much more that one can say for Russia.

The Russian position is very respectable. No meddling, no mud throwing, no lies or deception. Russia just stood aside and allowed the citizens of Serbia to cast their vote.

This is the nature of a true friend so thank you Russia! Serbia is with you.

Mr Lavrov statement is not true almost 46% of the electorate voted for the old system of core nationalism, so i don't quite understand what he means when he is saying Elections prove Serbia's democratic character.

I hope that Tadic does form the government, but its looking ever more unlikely.

Russia will support Nis and not the Serbian people or Serbia future.

"He replied, however, that Russia did not apply that logic, adding that “Serbia should not be viewed as a battlefield between Russia and the West.” "

Saddly the West do not see it the same way and are only too happy to implement their divide and rule hegemony in their intereest soley!!!
