I don't understand all this talk about "against the will of the voters". The pro-serbia block got more votes than the pro-eu block (if you count SPS in the first block). Why are the news stations trying to reverse this fact?

Lets see what the Radicals with bring, these are some predictions:
- more unemloyment,
- higher inflation,
- currency devaluation
- violence flare-up in the Serb populated areas of Kosovo
I just cannot see what protecting Serb interests means ? War in Kosovo agents NATO ?
Not even going to talk about foreign investment...

Propagandist give his views to a propaganda station!

Let's see, the DS took votes from other pro(as we are told) western parties. The SRS held firm with no gain. The DSS/NS lost some. The SPS still did relatively well.

Maybe a more accurate analyses would be that most voters had not changed their minds and the few that did, the pro-european minority party voters were frightened into voting instead for the DS.

Put another way, considering all the political support and promises the EU has made to the DS and allies during the election campaign in manoeuvers to deliberately manipulate the elections of a sovereign state,..................... why did the 'pro-west' parties not recieve substantially more votes that would have given them a clear majority and a clear mandate (something which neither side has)???

Is this not a rejection by most Serbian voters of blatant foreign attempts at manipulation of their elections?

It goes to show that even when the EU players try their dirty little games, the come
out of it looking incompetent and bumbling. Hardly the image that they want to project.

"a clear European orientation in favor f the Democratic Party and its allies, and a clear failure of the Serb Radical Party (SRS)".

So the SRS is a 'failure', but the DS and allies will have a very hard time forming a coalition governement = success? This is nothing more than spinning the DS and co's clear failure...

This whole piece is barely a rateable 'news item'. It is partisan opinion presenting itself as 'analysis' and is not 'informative' or lend value to anything else we can read.

It makes one wonder about the quality of editorial control...

Whatever.

Though I am sure most people will agree the "For a European Serbia" coalition did better than expected, Serwer is spinning their 38.7% into "the will/wishes of the voter" is trying to pull the wool over people's eyes. You can only make a claim like that when a grouping receives over 50% in a system like this.

The SRS + DSS + SPS looks like they will have 127 or 128 seats which is more than enough to block any DS coalition with the LDP and ethnic minority parties.

The preferential voting system in some democractic countries (eg. westminster system) prevents this type of election result.
Parties register where (to whom) their votes will go if they don't get enough votes for their candidate.

This US analyst - Daniel Serwer- should know better than to make claims about so-called victories/majorities that he knows is a biased interpretation of the election result.
what more does one expect from other such renown analysts ?

You'd think that someone in the international political sphere could call a spade a spade.

Give Nikolic a go!
he (and his future coalition) were not and are not against the EU, they simply put Serbia and her peoples and her integrity first.....
Or is that what he/they shouldn't be doing?

Should he/they be exchanging their integrity and honor for cash investments and a credit card?

One has to ask oneself....
why now all of a sudden we are 'required' to join the EU?

Whats the rush EU?

Getting married/having a baby doesn't solve existing problems in a relationship,
it could make them worse.

The Serbian people in Kosovo haven't been safe for many years and the EU(lex) only make them feel even more uneasy each day they remain there.
Why the rush and push for Tadic?
Is Nikolic's honesty 'unworkable' for EU and USA?

Oh dear, they still take Serbians for the fools. It is quite amusing really.

Will I be glad once this new government is formed to demonstrate that the majority of voters did not vote for Tadic but rather for change.
