There is no “can of worms” here. There is only the power-political play of the Putin regime over Europe and the United States. Even in Nagorno-Karabakh things have been going relatively peaceful.

North Ireland has been calm, Corsica has been calm, and Quebec has been calm. What Russia is trying to do is to annex the military-occuipied territories of Transnistria, South Ossetia and Abkhazia to the Russian territory. In fact, there is no democracy nor true “self-determination” in these three places.

About Bosnia’s Republika Srpska, well, the Greater-Serbian-minded politicians there cannot separate the non-contiguous territory from Bosnia and annex it to Serbia because they have no guns (Bosnian Army is under Sarjevo control and Western forces occupies all the territory) nor voice (Lajcak oversees the situation).

That’s it.

This shows they are total hypocrites. The peoples in Georgia (Abkhazians and Ossetians) voted overwhelmingly for independence. Their territory was artificially annexed to Georgia.

Why?
Why not come up with a plan (an equivalent for Ahtisary's) and allow people who do not want to live together to separate and have their own independent state? Than will be up to an individual country to recognize them or not.

When Russia feels strong - this time because of billions of oil money - she always tends to treaten small neighbors in the old Russia imperialistic way. Fortunately the Baltic states, Poland and Hungary are now safe because of NATO membership. Hopefully this will be the case soon for Georgia. Otherwise - as Russia gets more agressive by the day - a Russian invasion (following more provocations) would not be a far-fetched thing in the near future.

So the Kosovo precedent backfires once again on NATO and Georgia - and they were warned!

So what next? Republika Srpska? Kurdistan?

Looks like someone opened a can of worms.
