Joe,

“There are a lot of Polish jokes in the US about Polish people in general. I used to condemn them and felt that they are unjust and offensive.”

Your statement describe your intelligence. The Polish Jokes are about Polish peoples and I don’t condemn them, I just ignore them.
In US you have all kind of jokes; Italian, French, Mexican and so on.

I don’t know what is your nationality but you make the best joke about yourself. Don’t you see other means of transportation except the planes? Why Bulgaria businessmen worried about trucks security going trough Serbia after recognition of independence of Kosovo by their government?

How much money were lost by France, Austria, Germany and other West European countries after NATO bombed bridges on Danube ?

Joe! Take a auto map of Europe and Asia and learn something. Then you can talk about Polish Jokes. By the way I’m not in “Polish corner” as you assume.

What Zbyszek wrote is not a stupid idea at all and many people both in Poland and Hungary think that these two countries should have played this role taking adventage of their geopolitical situation (of course except for those narrow-minded GYurcsanyists and pseudo oposition Orbanists).Had Hungary chosen this way and not become the most exploited colony of this new COMCON the situation would be much different. It would not be a Sorosian country with capitol called Demszkygrad almost zero economic growth and riots during national holidays.Anyway the later You join EU the worse conditions You get.Just look what is happening to once flourishing hungarian agriculture .
Serbia is geopoliticly maybe even in a more important situation than the two above mentioned countries. It is not an accident that in history so many powers wanted to have a hold over serbia and that Belgrade was the most war stricken city in the history. The real reasons of the recent wars proveked and orchestrated by the leaders of the new world order were of the very same nature. So I must agree with Zbyszek that joining Eu for Serbia would be bowing in front of colonizers.Given their location ,good sense of business ,traditionally good economic ties with some rapidly developing counties (India ,China,Brazil etc) Arab countries ,Russia this role for them mentioned by Zbyszek semms very sensible.
As to Polish jokes in america they were created mainly when a wave of poor uneducated polish peasents arrived in the NEw World at the beggining of the last century .However I still remember those primitive polish jokes created by Kadarist propaganda machine at the begging of 80s in Hungary in which Poles were portrayed as stupid destroyers of socialism and agents of west .And unfortunatelly brainwashed hungarians repeated and accepted these low-level primitive jokes.

EU needs Serbia, but it seems it needs a divided Serbia more...

When such hypocrisies exist, nothing can be gained either by joining or celebrating...!

Unless and until ALL THE COUNTRIES of EU are convinced about an United Serbia, all talks are futile...from BOTH sides!

Zbyszek,

There are a lot of Polish jokes in the US about Polish people in general. I used to condemn them and felt that they are unjust and offensive.
But when I read your comment about land-locked small Serbia, transit country between Russia, China, India and Europe than I tend to think that some of those joke makers knew something about some Poles. Again I do not generalize. I knew some very nice smart Polish Americans in my business life. There is also well-known Martha Stuart, whom I admire. She rose from modest "milieu" to riches due to energy and intelligence.
But reading you comment one could imagine thousands of commercial planes from Russia, China and India land at the Belgrade airport just to repart shortly after to Frankfort, Paris, London, etc - instead of flying there directly. I find it very funny...This is how you see the commercial world from your corner in Poland?
Please elaborate. Thanks.

"By signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), Serbia has taken a step towards joining the family of European countries."

This is a joke. The agreement can't be ratified by EU states until Serbia co-operates "sufficiently" with the Hague, the terms of the agreement are not enforce until all EU member states ratify -- and this could take as long as 3 years after Serbia is deemed to be "sufficiently" co-operating with the Hague.

Basically to paraphrase Shakespeare, "All this talk around the SAA is much ado about nothing."

If the author remember The May 9 is a Day of Victory over Nazi Germany. So the author should remember heroism and devotion of Serbian Peoples in fight of our common enemy. But instead, a former alleys (USA, France, UK and even Poland) betrayed Serbia.

Of course that there is an alternative. It is staying unaligned as Yugoslavia. Keep economical relation with any country in the world, be a transit country between Russia,
China, India and Europe.

No deal with traitors and occupiers.

Serbia needs EU as much as EU needs Serbia or maybe less. All recent tricks with visas, SAA offer shows clearly intentions of EU.

B-92, this is pathetic pandering for the DS. this is not the news this is a sham.

While you are celebrating Eulux and the people who bombed television stations and car factories, the people of Serbia are looking to you for truth and not spin.

Eulux appreciation day will not be celebrated by people of dignity.
