So, Kate, you agree that some of them committed crime, don't you?

Good luck pro-European Serbia on your way towards Europe.
If is it for me I wish that raicals win parlamentary election this year in Serbia, that way it will be much easier for Kosovo to get away from Serbia.

I laugh when I hear all this Russia blabber, I don't think who says that Serbia should go towards Russia knows what they are saying. You should go to Russia and see what there is there and then think what you want for your country. Serbia is much closer to the EU than it is to Russia in all aspects. The only thing you share is the alphabet, and you're slowly going latin anyway...
By the way, for what I'm concerned, you're more than welcome in the EU, and the only way the people will realise the mistreatment of Serbia is by actually meeting you. Isolation won't help much that's for sure.

"From what I can see, there are no conditions mentioned here. So regardless of who wins, this offer should still stand.

But the question remains, why offer it now just after the Kosovo Albanians have excluded themselves from such a deal? Will they all get out their Serbian passports now and claim to be Serbian citizens? This offer is one of their biggest dreams.
(ZK UK, 7 May 2008 12:16)"

ZK UK,

You are so right. I am sure that a group of Kosovo Albanians will use their Serbian passports to get a Schengen visa. One would expect that all of them burned their Serbian passports on February 17, but reality will be different and with their "Kosovo passports" they cannot take advantage of this EU election arm-twisting/sweetening offer. If the EU will allow Kosovo Albanians to use their Serbian passports to get a Schengen visa it will automatically acknowledge that Kosovo is still a province of The Republic of Serbia (only Kosovo Serbs can get a visa, because they never accepted the UDI and still have Serbian passports). They cannot accept the "Kosovo passport" because the EU as a whole has not been able to recognize Kosovo. I am also sure that most people in the EU do not want to see this offer be extended to Kosovo and Albania to prevent being flooded by young people from those countries who will have very little chance to get a good life in The West (those days are gone).

what this really means is that you wont have to pay 20, 30 euros once they approve you visa. the conditions for approving them will be exactly the same. its the same trick like saa, we'll monitor how obedient you are then we'll let you know if it's really on. in other words, desperate last minute election propaganda for solanas boys.

Everything the Euro buerocrats do now is aimed to cheat the Serbs "this one last time" and at any price keep them from voting for Russia i.e. for Nikolic. But when it happens a lot of things which seem to be closed now can find new prolongations. And it's not only Kosovo but the unrevenged bombings of peaceful cities , almost 9 years of blackmail , the fate of Serbs living around Serbia ,criminal Tribunal in Haague ,destruction of Orthodox churches ,killing people for organs ect. Only Nikolic is able to walk this way at the support from Russia of course.

All NATO countries can be neutralized by Russia alone in every branch required. But because the Pandora box with the Snake at it's command is still open very soon the West will start to reap the harvest they have sawn. Those 2 mln K-Albanians cannot live hanged up in the air. According to Isaak Newton they have to fall down some day with nowhere to go but Albania ... But they cannot all the time change heroin for cocaine or stolen cars for the kidnapped ! There's only one way out bilateral visas with countries outside Schengen ...

So the Euro Buerocrats can cheat no one with their stupid personal declarations of "road maps" and so on. The only thing they are worried is to add voices to their Tadic and thus to tear Serbia away from Russia.

Ataman (#1),
I think I can explain it.
Hugo Chavez is a leader of a proud nation and doesn't give a hoot for what Washington and the EU think of him and his people.
When a government accepts position of an abject toady, its people, by extention, are assumed to be a people of abject toadies, and are treated as such.
One thing is clear now, the EU is running scared of what may happen on May 11th to our "well groomed toadyness" for the last nine years, so they are making their inane last ditch effort to show us how much they adore us.
Stand by for some more surprises coming from Solana between now and Sunday.

Pull all the treats-candies from the bag to influence Serbian people voting decisions to justify wrong decision-UDI. Can you imagine what kind of blackmailing and arm-twisting they used to force puppet's states to recognize UDI, when they openly cross all lines of "democratic" neutrallity in state elections.

"Even if some Serbian people decide to use the freedom to travel elsewhere in Europe (which should be their right anyway)"

Kate, i support free visa (in fact my country offers them for some time now) but no, there is no automatic right to them. Every country 8including Serbia) can decide on it`s own how to deal with this issue.

Zbyszek

pre 15 godina

It was designed as a boost for DS and G17+, but it is to late. But many young Serbs who support DS are just dreaming about traveling to EU. Even if visa is going to be free of charge (35 euro) they will still need money for travel expenses.

Their dream about getting some job there is just a dream. Only some highly qualified specialist will be able to get a job for fraction of salary of citizens of that country. So qualified Serbian work force will be drained from Serbia.

What kind of development can be done without this peoples?

On the other way people here is asking for more restrictions in the visa regime , infact here no newspaper or politician has given details...
It's all a comedy for the election !!

Michael

pre 15 godina

One of the reasons for the existence of the current visa regime is to prevent illegal immigration into EU countries. The liberalisation of the regime should be explicitly tied to a pro-Western election result, because only under such a scenario will the Serbian economy continue to grow (which will in turn further erode the incentive for Serbs to emigrate). Under a Radical government, the visa regime will likely become even more restrictive - because half of the Serbian population will want to get out fast. They will not seek visas simply to travel.

The citizens of free, prosperous, democratic country of Venezuela do not need visas to Schengen countries and the rest of E.U.

That's because Chavez is the symbol of democracy and very much pro-European/pro-American.

Anyone can explain it?

Kate

How shortsighted the EC is being! They made a big blunder following the US so blindly, and the European leaders more than anyone should know that just because you throw a scrap doesn't mean that the feelings about your own borders will be diluted in any way.

Even if some Serbian people decide to use the freedom to travel elsewhere in Europe (which should be their right anyway) it doesn't mean anything in terms of giving up Kosovo.

If anything, the more integration the better, because it will give a stronger voice from the inside of this institution which has allowed itself to be so discredited and misled.
