Schroeder: Kosovo recognition “against Europe’s interests”

well, calm down my albanian friends... since he is speaking of serbian isolation too, you can rest assured that he is not up to date!

Serbia is not, and will not be isolated. that´s something you can count on.

Unfortunatenly everyone that speaks against K-Independence is just a "former" official that has no bearing in his/her own current government decision(s). In other words their opinions barely make it in the news stands(other than Serbian press), let alone to have any real effect at all.

And this comes from a man who recently accepted the job to be the head of European operations for Russian oil company Gazprom. A sellout. A man that Germans and Europeans consider a traitor.

I simply laugh at everything he says.

You kosovars don't seem to understand. Its not 'who' said it but 'what' was said and it couldn't be further from the truth. YEs G.S. is a private person and works for Putin but is all he is saying is what European diplomats privately think. You can only keep a lie going for so long. Iran's just around the corner and the US is digging a deeper and deeper well.

Why must your posts always in some ways provoke others instead of commenting thoughtfully and contributing to an overall discussion?

I am not quiet sure what you are counting (160 + 38 = 198).
The UN has 192 member STATES, not 198.

It does not matter by how many Kosova is recognized, it is quality. We have great allies and they support us and we love them. I don't for one second doubt the geopolitical reason of independence being channeling of Oil + Coal.

You say Serbia is not isolated, I beg to differ, how is it for a Belgradian to get a visa to Switzerland or America? Think about inflation, food prices, etc.

As far as this "expert" says, I don't really give value considering the fact that he is a small rock in a huge ocean.

Anyway, after june 15 2008 this will be much different.

Schröder´s comments are a typical reaction of former politicians converted in businessman(s). If he would be again Kanzler, his comments would be more visionary as he in fact did in 1999. The problem of Schröder and similar is the antipathy for US pragmatism. Kosovo was, is and will be a European issue. But Europe was not able to resolve this issue and will resolve it without the clear and Realpolitik of US. Schröder and all anti-american voices in EU shall remember that without the US, half of Europe would have now speak German or Russian probably with the geographic line Belgrade, Vienna, Prague, Warsaw etc. Decision on the Russian style as Schröder is trying to sell to the opinion would have have the same negative impact as now with the slight difference that the Serbian MUP and Arkan´s fans would have use a more sofisticated strategy to clean Kosovo. It is time for Schröder to write his memoires and leave others to lead the world.

The key there is that it was done TOO SOON, meaning it would have happened later.

However, this guy works for Russia and I wonder how much money he got from the Serbian Lobby to say that ;)
