America is a fraud. There are just a few people controling everything and stealing from the masses. For you serbians that think the EU is progress, think again! The eu is regression, into and american style fraudulent society based on inflation based tax, high deficity budgets, various industrial complexes and it will die, just like the US is about to. Dont let the huge advertising budget used with stolen money convince you the the EU is some sort of doorstep into the future -- You are the future! Decide for yourself based on your history and based on real friends. Remember your true friend now has the ability to meet the globlal chalenges with their vast commodity base. The world is changing and soon america will drag even the EU into the pits of economic dispair. If you think the EU is a path to progess you are wrong, it is a path to slavery.

To: Peter RV, Smokva & Factfinder:

It seems that you have all missed the point, how do you explain all the other Counties (serb friendly) living around your borders that have opted to Recognize the Independence Of Kosovo!

Doesn't that tell you anything
or is it still just propaganda and the nasty USA? Macedonia and Montenegro will also very soon recognise the Independence of Kosovo, what then! are all of these countries now your enemies or are they trying to tell Serbia somnething?

The answers why you have lost the conflicts and why your diplomacy has failed to stop the cessation of all democratically minded people of the Balkans can only come from you.
Stop searching for the reasons by putting forward consporacy theories and accusing nations of selling them selves out, You are looking in the wrong direction.

I travel through Serbia quite frequently and have many friends there, the impression that I have is that they are a modern people whom are quite intelligent and culturally developed. Once Serbia accepts the reality of the Kosovo situation and realizes that it has been developing for the past 9 years (its not something that happened overnight), its probably the complaisant actions and or inactions of your politicians that didn't treat the Kosovo situation seriously, relying on the fact that their long standing allies would block any such moves and or fail to recognise the Independence Declaration. Too much emphasis was placed on the ill conceived notion that any such moves would be locked by the UN and at least by Serbia's allies.
This is a clear example that your strategy was not well planned and not well developed, you underestimated the situation and know its really Check Mate!
Politics is sometimes like that, you need to accept this sooner than later, as in the end you will accept the reality as it would be impossible for anyone to honestly believe that you could now take away Kosovo's independence and return 2.6 million people under your control. Its just not possible given the geographic location and the fact that they have over the past 9 years established credibility and gained the support of so many strong nations.

In you eyes it may not seem right, but history is plagued with errors and injustice, it just happens that this time you find your self on the other side of the diplomatic world.

Having said this now is the time to see how best you can live and work with your new neighbor and start working on developing credibility and trust from those you have mistreated for so long. We can agree to disagree but the fact is that its now the reality of the situation and we need to see where to from here. Statements used by your politicians like "we will never recognise Kosovo" are emotional and we all understand, but you will and its just a matter of time, the sooner the better, for all.

Hope the B92 censor won't mutilate again this comment of mine.I am counting on his respect for 'the Free Speech'.Thanks,PRV

Stone's speech(#12) seems to be taken straight out of the pages of a Daniel Goldhagen's notebook (which BTW, contains his revelation that Serbs "have lost their right to have their own state and as such, should be "de-nazified" like you know who). So, they have to be talked down.
We should, Stone says,'search our souls'instead of permanently living in our past.
Stone is obviously ignorant of Serbs, for if he weren't, he would know that we dont take kindly being lectured by those we consider morally inferior. Hypocrisy is not something we adore and when displayed constantly-to put it mildly- it bores the hell out of us.
The owners of Guantanamo, Gaza or Abu Ghraib should get off their imaginary 'high moral horse' when they talk to Serbs about crimes.
Also, Stone, you don't understand what Russia represents to the Serbs. It is a part of our soul, all our past is linked to Russia.
Dostoyevsky,Pushkin,Liermontov,Gogol,Tolstoy are the people who have described our own soul long time ago, so, further search for it, for us, is un-necessary.
Yes,indeed, Putin is the man we count on to help us get out of our long nightmare when the Serbs were not allowed to be Serbs.
That day is approaching.

Support from Russia is not a bad thing, but cutting off relations with the West in favor of Russia is a very bad thing. This is why Eastern Europe lags behind Western Europe 10-20 years.

There is an appropriate saying: Keep your friends close but your enemies closer. At least for your own gain. From Russia there is little you can gain. As a Pole I can tell you, ask any Hungarian, Estonian, Czech or Romanian about what I mean here. You put all your trust in Russia, you will simply take the CEE route, except we will be far ahead of you. Russia is a strong country, but it cannot help develop you like the West possibly can. This is true.

You're right!
But I ment the guys who are "struggling" to "defend" the International Law.
It's a pitty for the INT.LAW what a sort of dictators has as its lawyers.

Fortunately, the Free World sees INT.LAW from a humanistic philosophical viewpoint in the case of Kosovo.

The independence of Kosovo wasn't unliateral - it was the World's necessity. The contrary would be a shame!

To Suzi (#13)
What a strange statement:

"We don't want your (American and EU's) LAND just your LOVE!"

Serbs don't need anybody's love, they demand Justice.
Besides, Western "love" is dangerous for Serbian health (even Solana proclaims his affection for us),it is coming lately even in the form of- Bombs.(Don't you remember?)
Don't get sentimental Suzi, the West had its chance to show how much it loved us and we are finally accepting that chalange.
Let's hope that after May 11th we'll be able to send them, as a sign of our deep recognition for all they have done for us- a Boris Tadic - as a political refugee.

stone, your premises are wrong. To summarize your accusations ( since they all look alike circling around the net, rearing their Serbophobic head) you present vision of Serbia as an innocent victim of malevolent outside forces and bearing no responsibility for the ills which have befallen it.

While it is true that the Serbs don't subscribe to the CNN version of their history, thanks to incessant propaganda and brainwashing, the dominant public opinion actually blames Milosevic for the calamities of the past 20 years – including the NATO aggression and the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Croatia and Kosovo under U.S. and NATO auspices. Serbs do regard themselves as victims, but of Milosevic, not outside forces. They still regard the US led aggression as essentially benevolent – which, given the American and European support of neo-Nazis, Islamic militants and terrorists so long as they opposed the Serbs, can only be classified as Stockholm syndrome.

As for other not wishing to lstay with Serbia anymore, hmm how you are explaining that Serbian today is the MOST multi-ethnic and multi-religious in Balkan. No other country can match Serbia's diversity-when it comes to different people living in it.

Nowhere in Europe have so many minorities been able to live so freely as in Serbia. !!!

As for ex Yugoslavia, Serbia was the only country that could only lose in the collapse of Yugoslavia. It was the country that had large minorities in almost all the other republics. A million Serbs were living in Croatia, they made up over 30% of the population in Bosnia. That's why Milosevic was against the collapse of Yugoslavia right till the bitter end – unlike the Croats and Slovenes. How were the Serbs supposed to react? In Croatia, the horribly anti-Semitic Tudjman was at the helm – unfortunately almost nobody in West knows what kind of evil stupidities he wrote. And in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Izetbegovic wanted to found a theocratic Islamic state.

Yeah 'poor' Serbia no wonder they have to engage into wars when you see how viscious their neighbors are.

As for Kosovo and who's fault it is.Who's at Fault in Kosovo
1 - Jared Israel

NATO says Kosovo's problems began in 1989 when Milosevic suppressed Autonomy out of nationalist spite.

According to this myth a) Kosovo was fine 'til then; and b) even after that the U.S. boosted Milosevic as a democrat, only reluctantly turning against him when his behavior became so fascistic that the NATO humanitarians had little choice.

In fact the US was openly meddling in Yugoslavia as early as 1987. Covert meddling surely precedes that date. In 1987 Congressman Dioguardi reported efforts by him, Sen. Dole, Sen. Paul Simon and others to encourage Kosovo Albanian secessionism. (NY Times letter, Nov. 8, 1987) The effect of this cannot be over-stressed. When leading legislators in the U.S. openly support a secessionist movement (especially when the CIA is "helping" too) it vastly increases their appeal.

Before 1989, Albanian racists, very similar to racist whites in the old south, persecuted non-Albanians.

"The [Albanian] nationalists have a two-point platform," according to Becir Hoti, an executive secretary of the Communist Party of Kosovo, "first to establish what they call an ethnically clean Albanian republic and then the merger with Albania to form a greater Albania... "

"Some 57,000 Serbs have left Kosovo in the last decade, and the number increased considerably after the riots of March and April last year, according to Vukasin Jokanovic, another executive secretary of the Kosovo party.

Mr. Jokanovic, former president of the Commission on Migration set up after last year's disturbances... called the pressures disturbing and said they included personal insults, damage to Serbian graves and the burning of hay, cutting down wood and other attacks on property to force Serbs to leave." (NY Times, July 12, 1982 )

Did you note the use of the phrase "ethnically clean"? This was in 1982. So much for the Serbs having invented this term during the 1990s, as the media tells us.

By 1987 the racist harassment had gotten worse:

The current hostilities pit separatist-minded ethnic Albanians against the various Slavic populations of Yugoslavia and occur at all levels of society...
The army says it has uncovered hundreds of subversive ethnic Albanian cells in its ranks. Some arsenals have been raided...

Slavic Orthodox churches have been attacked, and flags have been torn down. Wells have been poisoned and crops burned. Slavic boys have been knifed, and some young ethnic Albanians have been told by their elders to rape Serbian girls...

The goal of the radical nationalists among them...is an ethnic Albania that includes western Macedonia, southern Montenegro, part of southern Serbia, Kosovo and Albania itself.'' (NY Times, Nov 1, 1987)

It was the Serbs and other minorities, not the Albanian majority, who developed a movement against racist harassment in Kosovo because they were the ones being harassed as an ethnic group. This movement became gigantic and included not just Serbs but Roma ("Gypsies") who the secessionists hated as much as they hated Serbs, as well as Goran (Slavs like the Serbs who had converted to the Moslem religion) and Jews and even ethnic Turks and Hungarians. (NY Times, 10/7/88) Contrary to popular belief, U.S. officials did not merely support Kosovo Albanians' opposition, they openly fomented ethnic strife. Thus Bob Dole and other Congressmen visited Pristina, in Kosovo, in 1990 and the visit was the occasion for coordinated riots.

"Riot policemen used clubs and tear gas today to disperse thousands of ethnic Albanians awaiting a United States Congressional delegation to complain about human rights abuses.

"About 10,000 people chanting ''freedom, freedom!'' and ''U.S.A., U.S.A.!'' gathered in front of a hotel where the delegation of seven Republican Senators was expected to hold talks with leaders of the Albanian majority in Kosovo, a southern province of Yugoslavia. "The delegation, headed by Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas, arrived in Pristina three hours after the clash and was driven under police escort to a hotel for a meeting with leaders of Albanian groups..." (NY Times, 9/6/90)

What an extraordinary situation, and what a clear expression of the secessionists' strategy of getting the US help them create an ethnically pure Greater Albania.

@stone

If we were to look back on history as you suggest, we would simply find that Serbia is the only nation out of all those you have mentioned that has refused to sell itself out time and time again (if the others can in fact be called nations). Is it really the Serbs fighting all of the other ethnic groups of former Yugoslavia, or are they fighting the Serbs? Perhaps the other 'ethnic groups' as you call them, are actually not separate ethnic groups at all but are instead bi-products of the attacks on the Serbian people over the centuries. Maybe it's not the Serbs they are fighting, but are fighting themselves. They seem to be fighting in a futile attempt to convince themselves they are something different, something better even? True peace in the balkans will be achieved when all of THESE people make peace with themselves, and make peace with the fact that they are fundamentally one and the same as Serbs.

Its good to have such support!
The Russians are a true example of a democratic country, forward thinking and concerned with international law and peace!
They claim that international laws have been broken and the UN charter and conventions have been oberlooked!
Its so hypocritical, the Russians are the same people that supported Milosevic (you all rememeber him "the butcher of the balkans")and provided him political and military support during his barbaric rampage, when he fought all other ethnic groups of ex-yugoslavia. Just remember that, all focus is now on Kosovo and the kosovo albanians are the only enemies of Serbia! All we need to do is turn the clock back a little and you will see that so where the Croats, the Slovenians, the Bosnians, the Macedonians and the Montenegrans. Doesnt that tell you something!, poor serbia surrounded by enenmies all around, WHY? why is it that nobody that co-existed in the former Jugoslav territory wants to be with the Serbs, remember that they are not all albanians,

Once againm, Serbia needs to do some deep soul searching and needs to look in the mirror!

We dont need to go back hundreds of years to see why the Serbs wish to claim a right to Kosovo, we have a modern version of history and all we need to do is analyse this and it will be quite evident why no body wants to live with Serbia, Its time to stop feeling sorry for yourself and to address the serious issues that surround the co-existance of the serbian people in the Balkans. I dont think the Serbian government understands tha repercussions of there aggressive stance on Kosovo and their insistance on inflaming the situation.

For anyone that had any doubt about how Serbia occupied Balkan, how it built its Empire in 12 century, how Serbia took Kosovo in 1913 and Vojvodina in 1918, how Serbia had courage to ignore against international community to stop the war against Yugoslavia, why Serbia didn’t accept resolution 1244 that now “bravely” support, why Serbia “don’t care” for people of Kosovo just the Kosovo land and especially the mines in North of Kosovo, here is the answer – RUSSIA SUPPORT.

What an extraordinary situation, and what a clear expression of the secessionists' strategy of getting the US help them create an ethnically pure Greater Albania.

Statements used by your politicians like "we will never recognise Kosovo" are emotional and we all understand, but you will and its just a matter of time, the sooner the better, for all.

stone, your premises are wrong.
