I wish to reitterate the following:

Kosovo & Metohija as well as Vojvodina were given a high degree of autonomy based on less than 15% minority population in those regions. So that there is no confusion, we are talking about the percentage of the entire population of Serbia at the time. This fact can be found in almost all documented records, especially in German & Italian military records.

As far as "Bosniaks" as a nationality, I stay with my original comments. Tito & the Communists exploited the word "Bosniak" in order tocreate the nationality.

I feel insulted that fabrications and lies are expected to be taken for the truth at the expence of my people and that those who wish not to have anything to do with Serbs find the audicity to set foot on Serbian soil to pay tribute to Serbia's murderer and collect pension checks.

Tito left a mixed legacy, i shall agree with that. but as my frnds say, he was a veritable angel compared to the nationalist politicians of today. i am anti-communist (among other things) and i surely do not miss communism, but i am so sad that brotherhood and unity has been replaced by "hate thy neighbor," as can be seen here fr the nationalists, each and every day.

And by the way, there are now SEVEN successor states, not six. whether blgd or b92 deem to recognize that reality is completely unimportant to me.

A complete lack of true knowledge and understanding on former Yugoslavia by many posters above.

Tito ran a dictarorship because he knew very well that that was the only way to keep teh country he fought to create together in one piece.

And lo - and behold, he was right, a decade after he died, the political forces that were butchering each other during WWII started doing it again. And here is where we are at.

As of today I will use KV to comply to Jovan's wishes as previously I was known as KS.

Likota, a well written post, could you please provide sources? According to your claims, in 1950 Kosova has less than 15% Albanian population and I don't believe it.

I found this insulting: "5) Created a fake nationality of "Bosniaks" who are in fact Serbian Muslims" considering the fact that I am a "fake" Kosovar-Bosniak.

I'm proud to be a Kosovar. I found your post to be similar to Jovan, perhaps you two know each other?

Tito, and Serbian / Croatian Communists accomplished the following:

1) Seperated Montenegro & Macedonia from Serbia proper.

2) Established a high degree of autonomy for Hungarians in Vojvodina and Albanians on Kosovo & Metohija, on Serbian territory based on a less than 15% minority population in both regions respectively.

3) Attached the italian region of Istria to the Croatian republic, as well as all of Dalmatia & the Serbian port city of Dubrovnik.

4) Placed Krajina Serbs within the framework of the Croatian Republic. No autonomy offered to Croatia's Serb population which made up about 30% of Croatia's total population.

5) Created a fake nationality of "Bosniaks" who are in fact Serbian Muslims. Bosnian Serbs (Christian Orthodox) who made up a little over 50% of the population pre WWII, was not offered autonomy.

6) Heavily embarked on the recognition of the so-called "Macedonian Orthodox Church" at the expense of the S.O.C.

I think it's time to see what exactly we are remebering in the House of Flowers. Maybe it's time to say goodbye to those who brought so much pain & sorrow to our people.

"Today, there are six states in the territory of the former SFRJ, equal to the number of federal units it consisted of"?!! I think there are seven, or you didn't count Serbia?

"Today, there are six states in the territory of the former SFRJ, equal to the number of federal units it consisted of. "

The Automous Provinces of Kosova and Vojvodina were veto holding powers of the federation as well. Therefore, they were members of that federation. So, SFRJ consisted of 8 federal units, and now there are seven states in the territory.

"...people's great expectations, and a low level of awareness of the importance of personal responsibility.."
This is really well formulated.
I tried to convince my friends here in Toronto to go out and vote on May 11th, but they don't believe that 'hand-full of votes can change anything'.
Also in Serbia itself many people complain but nobody seems to be doing something to improve their situation.
Probably Tito is to blame for the post-war generation and generation of their children' PASSIVITY?!
