Western Balkans in the EU when they are ready to join, no problem, but Turkey? People, Europe is Europe, Turkey is NOT Europe, they are an Asian country historically and mentally. With the rate they breed, they would overtake Germany's population! Then the largest EU country would be an Islamic one!!! Women are treated in a most draconian fashion, they have not apologized for the murder of millions of Armenians, they are still illegally occupying a part of Cyprus and they have a bloody law that states you cannot insult "Turkishness". What modern, democratic state has such laws??? This is a medieval muslim state and they must stay as far away from Europe as possible. Who's next? Kazakhstan? Turkey is more fascist than democratic, and I pray that I will never see this state join the EU!!! They can join the Arab League if they want to, that's all!

Veki, I like your logic of underestimating the abilities of Albanians. Underestimating others is never a good thing.
I also like your logic of seeing us in a negative light.
Continue doing that while we make allies with the West. You can watch us do that from Moscow.

Marinel...

there can´t even be the smallest idea of accepting them "as a nation" ..since they simply ARE NOT a nation.

and...I am not even speaking of a state, since a state requires a nation... then there would be the next requirement control and sovereignty over the territory... which we all know is an afterwit, a joke.

so, just let our albanian friends dream on, those who have brains have already new serbian documents, anyway.

Well, Turkey cannot join the EU because of at least two reasons: human rights issue, Kurdish population to which they are merciless. Second, the fact they are Muslims. With all due respect, Muslim world will have to adjust to 21st century (I think that's exactly what they are busy right now in Turkey: modernizing religious texts).
Similarly Albania will have the same problem, although their type of religion as far as I know is somewhat different, but does this make really a difference to EU- not so sure. Also, problem with Albania is that there is no guarded border to Kosovo so you cannot control who's in and who's out.
And third, Macedonia is problematic too because of Albanian minority becoming majority in many regions of the country. Also porous border to Kosovo/Macedonia/Albania is
completely wild and unacceptable. I don't think the Eu wants to give Albanians free visa's (using Macedonian passport) to travel everywhere and spread mafia activity even more.
Serbia got accepted to EU after declared Kosovo independence, and I start to debate if that was the only way for Serbia to be in EU- without Kosovo, or at least in some way without Kosovo.
With all problems Serbia has it is still a relatively civil society with a decent base to grow. Giving free visas to the Serbs doesn't pose such a danger to EU. But giving free visas to K-Albanians...imagine what would that be.
And at last but not the least,
Serbia can progress very quickly now towards the EU membership. They have to deliver war criminals- that's all. They would have to do that anyway at some point!

I can't believe the quote listed here! Get this:

"Although Kosovo was on the agenda... it was not represented...Kosovo's leaders have reacted with annoyance, saying that 'since an independent Kosovo is a reality, it must be recognized'"

Sure... Right... I see how well THAT is going for them. Are they feeling left out? Oh well. Whatever happened to the "I got recognized by the most powerful countries in the world" rhethoric? Guess what, UN recognition and participation is never gonna happen either.
They better get used to having others make decisions for Kosovo, because no organization will accept them or take them seriously as a nation.

Kosovo's leaders have reacted with annoyance, saying that "since an independent Kosovo is a reality, it must be recognized".

Unfortunately for Kosovo it is only a reality in a minority of nations. Before readers announce that the 40 or so that have recognised are the most powerful forget it. That story doesn't wash with 'World' reality. Eventually the courts will realise that what has happened is In defendable by the puppet masters. I am a realist and honestly think that partition will be the final outcome just to maintain peace in the region.

However even after partition Kosovo will always be a puppet affair living in limbo receiving only aid and operated by a crooked UN for all eternity......enjoy 50 years of doom and gloom on the dirty, crime infested streets of Kosovo.
