With all due respect Peter the free market system rewards individual talent and every Serb has the right to choose what is best for him and his family.A Serb engineer in America may make more than a native born one if the Serb has more talent.Do you berate Vlade Divac for playing professional basketball in the NBA and earning millions?Too many commentators here have a childish/simplistic view of economics but take it from a professor of economics that it is not a win/lose endeavor.A person who wants to increase his earning power needs to acquire highly marketable skills which the free market system rewards but even for those without talent earning $1 an hour if it is enough to put food on your table is better than NO JOB at all and your kids going hungry.

They want Serbian engineers to work for half the price Germany and France pay their workers, thats why they want all of Balkans in EU so they can steal the young intelligent professionals and pay them half the price they pay their own people for the same quality of work.

A scholarship should be offered to every single Serb student who wants to study anywhere in Europe.100 is not enough.100k is more like it.People to people contact is what is needed the most. While diplomats and politicians rave let the people interact.Mike I think the US government should offer 200k scholarships to Serb students as a small act of humility for the nonsense they have caused .Shalom

I for one am glad to hear of this scholarship program. During the three months I've been here, the biggest problem Serbia's youth have told me is that they can't go anywhere on account of visas being too expensive. This technically has created an entire generation that has not seen the rest of Europe, let alone the United States. By offering students the opportunity to study abroad, it creates two things: first and most importantly, the opportunity for Serbs to see the world and meet other people. Second, the ability for the rest of the world to meet Serbs. Too often are misconceptions of one by the other perpetuated simply because people don't meet. Visitors who have come to Belgrade are astonished to find how modern the people are and how different their attitudes are from what they read in the press. No one leaves Belgrade with any negative feelings.

Not only do I think 100 scholarships offered by major European countries should be offered, but the United States should offer 200.

"Only the Serbians have the right to decide whether to be pro-EU or pro-Russia or pro-Timbuktu. Neither you nor I are entitled to decide for them".

I absolutely agree with that. I have always stated that but what concerns me is that the Serbs blame the others for their wrong choices.
Let me give you an example. I am preatty sure that if Radicals and Kostunica wins the parliamentary elections in Serbia a large wave of countries that will recognise Kosova's independence will follow up. Then those Serbs who made their choices will not blame the others....

"Please stop making these reduculous comments about the "The Joyce of Recongnising Independent".

It reminds me the communist times in Albania when my mum telling me off to keep the volume down while listening to the BBC and VOA otherwise the Secret Police will arrest me.
Don't have the illusion that Serbia is the centre of the world! You need more EU than EU needs Serbia. When I say you I do not mean you personally but the Serbian people!

How in the world did my post FREELY written by me and FREELY published here by B92 remind you of your repressive past in Albania????

Only the Serbians have the right to decide whether to be pro-EU or pro-Russia or pro-Timbuktu. Neither you nor I are entitled to decide for them. Unless you are from Kosovo and are technically entitled to vote.

One more thing, the EU is not stupid, if they don't need Serbia at all they wouldn't arm twist Brussels and Amsterdam to climb down on their lofty SAA ideals to boost Tadic's fortunes come May 11th.

Yes, and the Serbian scholars will be required to take a compulsory module called "The Joys of Recognizing Independent Kosovo Thanks To The Bountiful Generosity Of France/Germany"!
