Hold on a second! You saying the UK is sending troops to Vojvodina (Serbia's province)?! Wow, that's real news now!

Actually, I don't quite get you: what is that you want? You seem to want to present yourself as such a legalist! Then you become the world's night watchman caring about the British capacity to provide for its sovereignity given its force overstretch. I wouldnt be surprised if your legalistic arguments went as far as claiming that Kosovo's independence is a threat to UK national security given that it is 'having' to deploy its last batch of forces to Kosovo.

So, now - is it the UK or Kosovo that you're worried about?

Or, is there some Islamic fundamentalist threat in the UK that would warrant military caution in deploying further troops abroad?

If your legalistic arguments had anything to do with reality, the UK would have NEVER had the chance to send ANY troops to Kosovo in the first place. Actually, has the UK asked for permission from Belgrade to deploy troops to Kosovo? It sure has, right?

I must ask you: how come Serbs have become so legalistic as of late? Where were they in the 90s when this mass slaughtering was taking place? Which part of international law, which u so feverishly uphold nowadays, sanctions killings on a massive scale?

When you screw with int'l law so badly, don't expect that same int'l law will come to your rescue. Once you've understood this point, you will know the complete naiveity in your worldview.

C, louie,

correct me if I am wrong but the UK have just sent 600 more troops because the UN requested noting instability in Serbia's province as reasoning - please note that the UK have now depleted their last vestige of spare capacity for troops given that all are either in Iraq, Afghanistan, kosovo or other missions, about to go out and replace exhausted soldiers or have just returned exhausted! They no longer have any military hardware spare to airlift troops around the world and must rely on others.

That said I think you can comprehend the self made tangled web that the coalition of the unwilling are in.

Do you really think that the UK forces to be now so streched to the point that they have to send their last reserve of 600 troops leaving no spare capacity do so to bolster a more stable environment or one that has become more unstable?

Even a senior military aid in UNMIK stated the other week that things have gone from bad to worse regarding stability.

"but the way this process was conducted goes in the direction of instability, and not stability.

Because when we say this is a unique case which doesn’t represent a precedent, we know we are either lying or being hypocrites. It’s clear that no two cases are equal. It’s clear that each of them is unique, but all of them have one thing in common: the will of one group to separate from another to create their own motherland. This is the same for everybody." - Major General Raul Cunha, Chief Military Liaison Officer of UNMIK.

The UK are now beyond the point of defending their own sovereignty given they have no troops left in reserve - this is not a sane position but then deceit has a way of wrapping the deceiver!!!

Note too that not only is the military capacity of the US and UK (staunchest promoters of illegality in the balkans) only capacity that is being streched but also its econimic capacity with what seeems like pay back time for all the military misadventures!

"NATO at this moment require stability on its 3 fronts but illegality being pushed by their main members is causing ever more instability on what was stable area yet they realise now how reckless the actions of US and 'few' Eu has become. Apparently their well paid analysts didnt see this coming"!

Dear Princip, when you say "what was stable area",do you mean it was stable for Kosovan Serbs or for all Kosovans?!
Kosovo is not a problem for Serbia any more my friend!
Kosovo is gone!
Now,you can believe what you want but one day you will realize what is happening.
NATO is in Kosovo for their reasons!
If one day they decide to go,no problem,we will have our army to protect all citizens of Kosovo.
You may not believe it but with "cats and dogs" us Albanians are between 10-12 Millions in the World, not counting those who had to asimilate because of "beautiful"life, then in Kosovo,so 21st Century belongs to us Albanians!
Ziveli my friend.

UNSC 1244 was enacted at the end of the bombing campaign therefore logic tells you no it did not mandate it.
Yes UNSC 1244 did mandate the building of Bondsteele as a component of KFOR just like the Italian, German, French etc bases.
The humor is when people make reference to the omnipotent Bondsteel shows either they are caught up in propaganda or simply ignorant. US forces comprise roughly 10% of the KFOR command. Bondsteel is one of the smallest US military bases.
"The international security presence with substantial North Atlantic Treaty Organization participation must be deployed under unified command and control and authorized to establish a safe environment for all people in Kosovo and to facilitate the safe return to their homes of all displaced persons and refugees"
I did not see anywhere in that mandate that NATO was suppose to prohibit EU from establishing or keeping UNMIK from "restructuring".
That web is going to get tangled around your feet someday.
I love the comments section of B92 it has much more interesting characters than Jerry Springer.

NATO, the organisation of the unwilling will soon realise that the Kosovo experiment is being ignored by most of the world and resisted by the emerging and resurging powers.

It is doomed to failure - just like Afghanistan and the unwillingness to support Iraq! NATOs expansion will be its demise so Serbia just needs to stand firm!

The first poster stated that the 'illegality' of Kosovo's independence is causing ever more instability.

I must ask: am I blind or what, because living in the area, I don't seem to catch on the instability being declared in existence.

You mean maybe the kind of instability that you would have wished it reigned in Kosovo to discredit the independence?

Well, the first poster also used to say a year ago how independence will never happen.

It did happen.

And there's no instability.

Except for the ever-present 'drug-trafficking, narctics state of Kosovo' propaganda that's been going around for ages.

But, know one thing: people are not interested in propaganda no more.

And stop lying to yourself.

all that NATO does will be within its UN mandate -

Lets have a good laugh at this ridiculous statement...;))

Did they bomb Serbia with a UN mandate...?
Did they build 'Bondsteel' with a UN mandate...?
Was 'KOSOVO' itself turned into an US/NATO state with an UN mandate...?

These jokers (read US army extension) make more problems for themselves...looks like Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Iran, Lebanon etc are not enough for them...

Hell is being a citizen of a NATO state, where you get your pensions for fighting the US neo-cons wars...!

Given that NATO is mandated only through UN resolution 1244 it needs to ensure 1244 continues to be implemented (i.e. no EU hand over UN continues) otherwise they will immediatly become an illegal occupation force. Clearly the penny has dropped and the UK who have just sent their last free soldiers (given the rest are tied up with Iraq & Kosovo) it would seem that a panic has set in NATO. NATO is more then likely about to have a huge internal argument given no one is willing to send the troops required in Afghanistan (let alone Iraq where everyone wants out) and Canada have hinted a pull out in Afghanistan because the likes of Germany and France wont send their troops into the real military zones in the south of Afghanistan!

NATO at this moment require stability on its 3 fronts but illegality being pushed by their main members is causing ever more instability on what was stable area yet they realise now how reckless the actions of US and 'few' Eu has become. Apparently their well paid analysts didnt see this coming!

Oh what a tangled web we weave...
