There is a big loss of face for the EU here.

The UDI is a broken tool - the EU have the attitude can be 'made to work' (in the same sense square pegs can be forced into round holes).

The EU failed to get a workable agreement with Serbia about autonomy for Kosovo - which they could have negotiated with Serbia if they had bothered.

I think that the international press will have no trouble in seeing the EU incompetence - particularly after this EULEX fiasco.

The EU jumped ahead and bent and twisted the laws so far - but they didn't quite break. It's a bit like saying crime is legal - not a tenable argument.

The EU should keep out of Kosovo - they have demonstrated their clumsiness already.

yes, ZK, you´re right on that, but boys like EA or KS or whatever they may call themselves... just need time to realize that they are being duped.

UNSC 1244 is still there and will be there in the future, and the Albanians will realize it... and that´s only the beginning.

wake up kids, it´s Serbia, where you are living! of course you are free to call your private apartment kosovaah... if it makes you feel better :)

"The proposal is that UNMIK should stay for a while in Kosovo, while EULEX would join this mission. Introduction of EULEX could be implemented as an addition to UNMIK or strengthening of the UN EU pillar," Rupel explained."

Eh, that would require a vote in the UN Security Council which will not go the EU's way.

Remember it is not just Russia that opposes, but also China, which is happy to take the back seat and let Russia take the flak.

As for Kosovo joining the EU, it has no chance as an 'independent state' unless the EU throws out large parts of the acquis communautaire.

Still, having the Euro as currency there has been of significant benefit to the pervasive organized crime there...

The EU Kosovo subsidy goes on!

Well Rupel, you know what changing 1244 means? Negotiating with Serbia and Russia right?

You also know you can't do that because your back is now against the wall so welcome back to the status quo.

So what has changed? The occupiers with their servants have recognised their occupation and in so doing, have locked the Albanians into their little "Kosova". They are stuck with nowhere to go.

You see, Serbia is free and so are the people. They can move around but how long will it take the Albanians to realise they are stuck? That no major investment or development is going to take place (apart from arms shipments and the training of a small army).

It's just a matter of time before this little experiment explodes. Serbia just needs to stand firm and be patient as it will likely be the Albanians kicking the occupiers out rather than the Serbians.

I find it quite interesting that the EU is talking about Visa free travel for Serbians now, just after the Albanians have excluded themselves from any such offer. They will wake up one day and see all the strings attached to their "Kosova" but patience first, just a little patience.

Tell me Rupel, when are the Albanians going to be offered Visa free travel?

Serbia must recognise Kosova first before we can start talking about any prospect for Serbia to join EU. Let's wait few more weeks and see which path the Serbian people want to go. The choices are two either REAL prospect joining EU by recognising Kosova's independence of self isolation/infliction with the option of joining the Russian Federation. Any other "talk" would mean messing about!
