Do you realise if kosovo was part of serbia that 1/3 of the government posts and civil service jobs would go to albanianas ? As they would represent 1/3 of your population ? Isnt it a good idea to let it go ?

Is there any other way to make the majority of the Serbian people to reconsider their claims ??? To realise that an independent multiethnic Kosovo is in their interest, because their political system could in no way operate with two million Albanians in it. To realize that secure and indivisible Bosnia Hercegovina is in the interest of everybody, including the Serbs who left their homes in the "Muslim-Croat Federation".

Bring on the elections and form the new government. Just in time for my arrival to Belgrade.

to stand shoulder by shoulder means for you, that you are living in the EU? at least you should stay until June 15th. I hope, Serbia will have a new government then ...

I grew up in the US and have both US and Serbian citizenship. I spend a lot of time in ex-Yu now, and that's where I hope to spend most of my days when I'm older. A year ago - no, two months ago - I would have been first in line to agitate for a place in the EU. I (still) think Tadic has good ideas, and Kostunica reminds me of the grandfatherly village cranks who think that the universe revolves around Serbia.

But you know what? The world is changing. I've been watching the US housing and loan market melt down. Our economy is increasingly owned by energy players. Next, do a little research about oil & gas peaks and it's clear that Russia is an energy superpower for the remainder of this century.

So now, for the first time, I'm an EU skeptic. I'm starting to see how Serbia matters more to the EU than vice-versa. Serbia can easily, out of self-interest, comfortably hitch its wagon to Russia. And why shouldn't it?

Here's the point: if "westernized" Serbs, with a presumed affinity for western Europe, are starting to think this way, what does that predict? I'm not a fan of Putin or his breed of authoritarianism, but neither am I impressed by pontificating EU idiots - especially the Dutch - who assume that Serbia should be grateful for the lesson of having Kosovo torn from from it. I would much rather ride Russia's coattails opportunistically and cynically than be a junior, and ever-suspect, EU member. I used to ignore the hypocrisy of the EU's serious debate about Turkey's membership while it incinerated Kurds. Not anymore. The EU is as cynically manipulative as Russia. Serbia should get the best deal it can get, and it's clear that that deal is not going to come from Brussels or Washington.

To the EU: No thank you and good riddance. Honestly, you're nowhere near as amazing as you think you are.

This is an excellent news for Serbia and it is to be hoped that SRS gets an absolute majority. At this stage Serbs have absolutely nothing to lose by showing their displeasure to the EU, in the most extreme terms.
Enough is enough.
It is a high time to get up from our knees and reject to be treated as a nation of 'untermenschen'.
This is not a role we are made for.

So they say but our interests are not with the US and EU at this time in history. Serbia is not giving Kosovo away and we are no going to be kissing the feet of the west any longer.

Our interests lie in Russia, China and those that show respect to us and provide opportunities (even those inside the EU). These are our friends and not those pretenders.

So long as the balance is found, this new coalition can make things work. SRS with SPS will do a good job looking after the people of Serbia and rebuilding the army. Nikolic just needs to keep his opinions localised whereas the DSS/NS can take care of the international stage and foreign policy. Now that should work well!

Bring on the elections and form the new government. Just in time for my arrival to Belgrade.

I believe even if Nikolic wins the elections alone or together with Kostunica the first thing he or they are going to do will be the further consolidation of the nation. No matter how they will do this but all patriotic forces should be united in one parliament and one government.

There must be no other criteria but real patriotism ! Thus the elite will enjoy the vast national support required to solve the problems Serbia have to face now. I do believe that in case of such a victory Russian economic support will be no more symbolic as it unfortunately is now but a sufficient one.

Also the late developments will lead to NIS share contract to be approved by the new coalition. It certainly will give an impulse for establishing good private relations between the new Russian and Serbian leaders. In general I like how the things are running.

God Bless Serbia !

ZK friends don't exist in international relations.

What puzzles me is that after all this chest beating is how DSS can only get 10 seats more than LDP and yet they will have PM, an economic portfolio and the Ministry for Kosovo in a future SRS government.

If it comes to it I give this red / black coalition about 2 years in government, before it collapses in acrimony and mutual accusations.

Roll on election day!

SRS looking set for victory -

If indeed this were to happen, the Serbian nation should breathe a sigh of relief...

Who are these people still voting for the LDP? They remind me of the Jews who hurried to the sites where they were told to assemble by fascist governments; considering themselves good Germans (or Austrians, Hungarians,...) who should follow their governments’ orders. Yes, one can collaborate in ones own vivisection. Self-hate can not be a political ideology. Can someone explain to me why Serbian law allows political parties which advocate the country’s partition? And please don’t bring up the “free” countries and the First Amendment with out addressing the Alien and Sedition Acts, Lincoln’s suspension on free speech, WWI-era persecution of Socialists, the isolation of those of Japanese ancestry in the ‘40’s, the extermination of the Black Panthers, AIM and so on …

The DSS is the best middle of the road option for whom Serbs should vote. There is no need to be too radical(SRS) nor too accomodating to western whores/thieves(DS).I am baffled as to why serbs do not see what to an objective observer is clear as day.Mr.Kostunica is your most honorable representative of what Serbia should be.Shalom

This will show the true face of the West: they will not like this outcome and will try to get Serbs to "reconsider" through blackmail and threat of isolation, poverty, and war.. truly a "benevolent" West indeed!
It is ironic that this will be the one real instance in all of Europe where the people's voice will be reflected in a democratically elected representative, but will only be branded as "undemocratic" by the EU and US!
To the Serbs: Have courage and hold firmly to your freedom! Don't be swayed or threatened by those usurpers of democracy!

It is quite obvious that an SRS/DSS-NS/SPS-PUPS-JS victory is pretty much guaranteed.

Time for Serbia to stand up tall and I'm glad we can finally have a strong leadership ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with all our friends and to finally say good-bye to all the feet kissing going on in the West.
