Peter, yes, migration is one reason, but not the only one. But the same thing will happen in Serbia, if the economy will fail to employ the people. And right now it doesn`t look like that.

The unemployment went down because all the Romanians there went to work in the West. I am Polish, you can't fool me with this either, most Poles have gone Westward as well, this is the only reason why unemployment went down.

Thankfully many Poles are coming back because salaries shot up massively, I hope Romania will have this soon too, probably within the next two years or so, so I suppose there is visible progress, but it's still overrated. Maybe I am an impatient person.

"What difference does it really make in your life or in the lives of ordinary people if a country is in the EU or not?"

I will try to answer to that question. The region where i live (Timis county, north to Vojvodina) has an unemployment rate of 1,X%. Neighboring Vojvodina has at least ten times more unemployed. Even if the two "capitals" of the region otherwise are almost "twin cities".

You mention the EU in just about every single post you make. Why is being a part of the EU of such paramount importance to you? What difference does it really make in your life or in the lives of ordinary people if a country is in the EU or not?

Guys did you forget what happened in 1999 or you think that was a big party with guns… hahahah…. You guys make me crazy, after what the Serbian government made to us, do you live in Serbia? Are you aware about the economy in Serbia? Why can we not accept Kosovo as the new reality in Balkan? Or you do think that after 11 May we’ll have better things for Serbia?

The only people that must decide whether Serbia wants to be part of EU are the Serbs themselves.Unfortunately it has been the practice of EU
bureacrats todate to take the
decisions that affect ordinary citizes without ever
consulting them.Their argument has always been that
politicians know best. This is why the EU has become irrelevant in the eyes of its
people.

It seems to me that Javier Solana is leaving no stone unturned and is appealing to his Spanish roots.

But it must hurt that his home country does not recognise his failing experiment.

Erin, Kosovo is not even recognised by the EU or the UN (and never will) so how can it become a member of either? Some people just like to believe in fairy tales.

We’re in the swamp that came into being after the temporary institutions in Priština declared independence illegally.

I wonder why MR Jeremic calls the Kosovan Government that exists for nine years now as "temporary institutions"
I believe he is trying to confuse the Spanish government. Or is he confused himself, the latter is more precise i think.

Spain to lobby for SAA signing-

And Serbia to lobby for SAA for the [non-independent]region of Basque!!

Let Spain say that they shall lobby for an integrated Serbia 1st and then we shall see...

Holland is blocking SAA for Serbia while the Hague is reducing the terms of those responsible for killing Bosnian Serbs;

An appeals panel at the UN War Crimes tribunal has cut jail terms for two former Bosnian Muslim army commanders.

Now- what Serbia should do is make more friends in especially those countries that opposed Kosovo independence. Should the crazy notion of giving "the republic of Kosovo" an SAA, Serbia should be able to count on Member States like Greece to slam the door shut.

Mircea, you'll have to wait until after May 11 before Serbia's direction is clear but I certainly hope the SAA is not offered before then.

I believe Serbia will do better out of the EU but that does not mean severing economic links. It should continue to build them where interests lie.

Serbia can negotiate agreements with the EU to get the benefits it offers without becoming a member. That, in my opinion, is where we should go.

ZK UK, Bosnia will sign the SAA on 28 april, Montenegro and Albania have already signed the SAA. Croatia and Macedonia are EU candidate countries. What is Serbia doing?

"“We’re in the swamp that came into being after the temporary institutions in Priština declared independence illegally. When we talk about whether or not Serbia has a European future, our position remains: we won’t accept an imposed solution for Kosovo. And it’s possible to continue EU integration, be an EU member, and not recognize independence,“ insisted Jeremić. "

- well Jeremic surely you appreciate it is the 18 EU 'friends' who maintain this swamp through ILLEGAL means that Serbia finds itself faced with.

Et Tu EU !!!

Moreover seeing as you havent convinced them that they have created this swamp and can take it away it remains to send the strongest message to the EU that its is all of Serbia or not at all on the May 11th parliment and local elections being held throughout all of UN recognised sovereign Serbia!!!

Oh waht a tangled web we weave...
