"Pipeline has enormous potential for Serbia"

Experts say that the pan-European pipeline with an estimated capacity of between 60 and 90 million tons of oil, would have multiple significance for Serbia.

EU has existed for the past 50 years, most European nations have existed for hundreds, if not thousands of years, they did not starve, why should they now? Think before you write such nonsense. Norway, Switzerland and Iceland are not EU members, they are FAR richer than any countries in the Balkans that are already more loyal to the EU than the actual members themselves (since neither Albanians and Kosovars are not members, yet they praise it more than anyone else in it already).

I would not worry about AMBO. According to Wikipedia, the pipelines are complementary (serve different markets).

Also..

Don't forget, Albania has its own oil deposits and more seem to have been found.

I think that many "Russian" that write on this forum are fakes or troll or ignorant...

Luigi !

I can see quite few Russians here and none of them looks like what you describe. If you dare to we may check which of us is ignorant. I know 5 languages with one of them Russian and tree more as Oriental ones. What about you ? What evidence do you need that I am real Russian and not ignorant if compared with you ?

... damaging Russia's image as a serious business partner in the first place...

Hi Adrian ! You know with such image makers like the US and it's EU department nothing can save our image ! As for the Russian approach I can see no problems here though if not the Ukraine bandit government surface pipeline would be more preferable. Russia as I mentioned worries only of the political context of the project. All because of Georgia and the Ukraine which evidently act under the commands from Washington.

You know Russia is more worried of our positions in the gas market than those of the oil. No doubt if tomorrow Russia delares of only 10% lowering of export volumes the oil prices will jump drastically. As simple as that !

So we have very strong positions here but if Georgia is pulled to NATO it will mean new cold war to save the US economy from the possible collapse. And though we still have a paritet with NATO and do not worry of our security such developments are not in our favour. We are a very peaceful country with only one problem - we hate anyone to tell us what to do or to push us to do something we don't like. So in Pan-EU pipeline the main problems for us are Georgia and the Ukraine but not the project itself. By the way I know very well President I.Aliev and he is the man who can bluff ...

Cheers !

As far as read about the project, I know the tankers arriving in Constanta will leave mainly from Novorossiysk (don't know if I spelled correctly) so why would russia be complaining? Kazahstan will pump oil cause actually will be KazMunaiGaz pumping to KazMunaiGaz (Rompetrol) throughout the region and yes it seems that the azer oil will go through Georgia. But why would that be a problem, this Russia or nothing approach I think is more damaging Russia's image as a serious business partner in the first place. Anyway, this project will take veeery long and Silvio seems to turn into Vladimir's puddel lately so there should be Russia's attention.

1. "... the agreement had multiple significance for Serbia ..."

This much I agree for Serbia should not be isolated but be a part of European processes in order to make the EU depend on Serbia.

2. “This project is of great significance both to the region and to our country, as, above all, it ensures the secure supply of our refineries and strategic infrastructural complexes that ought to ensure the safe and sound transport of oil to consumers in Western Europe,“ said Lemajić

Unfortunately this optimism cannot be shared by anyone being aware of the background of the whole project. The problem is that Azerbaijan has got no oil to fill such a pipeline and the project may become real only after Russia or Iran support it. Neither Kazakhstan nor Turkmenistan will give not a drop of their oil because of the big demand in China and also not to irritate Russia as their strategic partner.

Thus the project may have the fate of other US sponsored projects by Ukraine ,Poland and micro Baltic states to dream annually how good life is gonna be after they get rid of the Russian oil.

Still Russia doesn't care much of the project cause there's a lack of oil in the market. The only thing to worry us is that this project may be used for integration of Georgia to NATO for there's no other way of transportation from Azerbaijan ... From Russian point of view it's a political project , not economical. So I am personally happy they offered Serbia such a participation. Take as much as you can take from EU but don't ever sell out yourself !

Good luck !

I guess this makes the US project for the pipeline going through Albanian lands and territories very unlikely to continue any further. I expect to see the US losing interest in supporting the Albanian cause very soon, probably after the November elections. How convenient.

All pipelines have enormous potentials for the Serbian economy, provided they are ratified fast!

The EU NEEDS Serbia more, not vice versa...
