Jeremic is being absurd and disrespectful of the electorate! Even if the SAA is offered (Solana might still be able to bribe the Netherlands) there will still not be any obligation to affix Serbia's signature within a two-week deadline. With the election coming, this is precisely the kind of decision that must be left in the hands of the people.

To sign anything now, while the government is split and parliament opposes it would merely demean Serbia's signature for cheap political gain, especially if the voters share the parliament's distrust of the EU for not only bombing Serbia, but now also seeking to illegally dismember it.

Instead of building trust in Serbia's word, a hasty signature would undermine it. And this is NOT an opportunity that could be "missed": any new government would be free to sign or reject the SAA after the vote.

Jeremic says "integration can create a positive dynamic in favor of agreement". Maybe, but the EU states have been the strongest backers of the DIS-integration of the former Yugoslavia, of the State Union with Montenegro, and now of Serbia itself by recognizing Kosovo. The EU states are the problem, not the solution.

"Future agreement will be easier... if Kosovo ... moves in unison toward ... EU membership"?! Now Jeremic has entered Alice's wonderland. First, the regime in Pristina would never accept inclusion as a part of Serbia in the EU and has already rejected any SAA link to Serbia. Second, attempting to remote-control Kosovo compliance with the terms of the SAA from Belgrade under current circumstances is impossible. Third, if Kosovo were to move by itself toward the EU it would be doing so as an independent state that Serbia would then have to recognize to simultaneously enter the EU. Mr. Jeremic, that's three strikes and you're out.

Jeremic's statement that Serbia's "European future" needs to be "irreversibly confirmed" by signing the SAA is also silliness. Any signature on the SAA would be subject to parliamentary ratification -- something impossible today and highly unlikely even after the election. What it boils down to is that Jeremic seeks to make gains at the polls based on a meaningless signature on a scrap of paper that itself gives no date or even guarantee of Serbia's EU admission. He obviously sees the Serbian electorate to be donkeys that are so dumb that they can't even smell that the carrot he is offering them is rotten.

Jeremic, like Tadic, like Djelic, like Dulic and the entire Democratic Party do in fact treat the Serbian electorate as if they were stupid, ignorant and without any options. He and his clique are wrong on all counts.

Staying out of the EU protectionist cartel and preserving Serbia's hard-won sovereignty in no way constitutes isolation. On the contrary, it keeps open the door for multilateralism through free trade deals like the one with Russia to be extended to any nation that treats Serbia in good faith, including China and India, whose outputs dwarf the entire outmoded and non-competitive EU.

To top it all off, Jeremic complains of Haradinaj's acquittal yet continues promising Hague cooperation. Why not just admit the truth: at The Hague, all are innocent until proven Serb.

There is a good reason why we say: "Actions speak louder than words." This loud campaign-time clamor of brave (but empty) words from Jeremic is a perfect example. His words, especially on Kosovo, are completely drowned out by his party's total lack of any real action to back them up. The silence is deafening.

Sincerely,

Please jeremic, you are a smart man, but stop talking nonsense, you know as much as we all do that the SAA is not going to be offered to Serbia so why even talk about it?

Keep up the good work on convincing the more than 150 states to not recognize Kosovo before the UN will handle the question in the autumn this year!

Since no mention of Serbia's territorial integrity has been made it sounds like the DS sale of Kosovo is a done deal should they take power.
