Well what a suprise. NOT. the EU planned this and the fact of th matter is that Serbia will never join the EU until it recognises Kosova as an Independant state, only then will serbia join the EU by that time im certain that Kosova will be in the EU so that means that you the serbs can come over to Kosova without visas :)

the time of milosovic is over move and wake up vote for you lib dem party who has openly recognised Kosova, as its reality.

Adrian,

your point of view is very accurate yet your conclusion is, I am afraid, wrong. Kostunica plays exactly to that division of EU states who did recognized and those that did not recognized false state Kosovo. The aim is clear. Lack of consensus on this mater in EU will further deepen mistrust in EU legislations and practice to the non "foreplayer" members.
As EU wont add this sentence in SAA for sure , Serbian EU skeptic man will rise and rise until May 11th. Obviously with a good grounded reason.
Another clear cut by Mr Vojo enlightening another EU deception. Well done!

what is Mr. Kostunica talking about the whole time? he can claim such an annex, why not, but he knows - until today Serbia was not able to fulfill the conditions for signing the SAA. Kostunica talks about everything, but not about the real problems of Serbia and his own responsibiltiy for these problems.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Wait a second, is Koštunica now committing to signing the SAA even after he said he explicitly said he wouldn't? After accusing Boris Tadić of being a traitor for declaring that he would sign the SAA while saying that he would never recognize Kosovo's independence? Interesting developments. I expect him to suddenly try to claim all of the things that Tadić has tried to do for Serbia while Ilić and company try to pull Serbia back into the '90s.

"I publicly call on EU officials to tell Serbian citizens whether or not they believe that the SAA should contain a sentence saying that Kosovo is Serbia."

Sorry, but Kostunica knows very well that some EU-countries recognize Kosovo while others don`t. So the EU a a whole cannot recognize it, but on the other hand they can not say that it`s part of Serbia. So mister Kostunica has absolutely no intention to bring Serbia into the EU, but he`s afraid to say it loud.

I like his logic - it makes sense.

There is actually no reason why the EU should not agree with this - Kosovo is most definitely part of Serbia.

Personally, I think Serbia should send in its police to enforce the terms of 1244 - given that a minority of countries in the world happen to be in contravention of the terms of 1244 and are breaking the law by supporting the stealing of Serbian territory.

The police should always be sent in when stealing takes place. Maybe they could even do it with the UN's cooperation.

I don't think the international press would see this as wrong if it is done properly in terms of Serbian law.

The idea that an overgrown minority can decide to take over a peripheral region of any country is very dangerous (unless it is done by proper agreement).

Human rights issues should not be confused with land grabs. Kosovo is definitely an ethnic land grab that should not be tolerated. Serbia should stand up for itself. Milosevic is gone - there is no reason for Serbia to give up its land because of him.

What started as a humanitarian intervention has been turned into a political tool - that bodes badly for future humanitarian interventions as there is now little trust in the US, UK, NATO.

Nick, with all due respect,

what the Albanians here in this forum say, is not of any relevance at all.
nothing, just nothing is good or bad just because THEY think it is good or bad.

keep that in mind, please.

I´v written it before: there is absolutely no significant need to join the EU( although I think it will happen sooner or later ). CEFTA and other good things not to mention...

so, EU could benefit of Serbia´s entry...but what has the EU to offer Serbia???

Bulgarian street-traders are coming to Serbia, selling cheap stuff... if it is SO WONDERFUL inside the EU... why don´t they trade within the EU...??? :)

only naive kids believe that the EU is a kind of heaven...

Nick,

You are so right. There are many other reasons not to sign the SAA, one that Serbia will NEVER become an EU member (that has been decided a long time ago, see the link below).

http://www.juliagorin.com/wordpress/?p=1497

This whole issue is just part of a political game which end results will not be pretty and which will cause a lot of suffering. Please do not sign anything and just because something is on paper does not mean that others will respect it (that has been proven too many times).

Sam

Would be better to say
"Signing agreement doesnt mean Kosovo is implicitely recognised"
South (Greek) Cyprus is a member of EU and I am sure they didnt recognise the North (Turkish) part by doing so... Kostunica is simply worried that he will lose voters to the DS if the SAA is signed. Then Serbia will have a clear choice DS or Radicals. Without the SAA signed he can play the middle ground.

Way to go Mr Kostunica! I love your demands!

Whats the big deal EU! If we are not signing off Kosovo with the SAA, why is it hard to put in the document that Kosovo is represented in Serbia's territory.

If we can not get that simple answer then the EU can forget Serbia.

Hey Luigi

He never said he didnt like the EU. Read the article before making comments. If he did not like the EU he would not insist in signing the SAA.

Nick

Does anyone wonder why Solona and the EU want to railroad this agreement through, and especially before the elections? The fact that they do not want to deal with a potential Radical government is reason enough not to sign it. The fact that Tadic is so eager to sign it is another reason not to. And finally, the fact that the Albanians on this forum believe in signing the SAA is a good thing, is definitely one more reason not to. Voyo is on the right track. God be willing, on May 11 with Voyo and Tommy in power, Serbia may regain her dignity.

You can be sure Koštunica is protecting Serbia's sovereignty without falling into any traps.

It is no secret the powers within the EU, NATO and US are attempting to detach Kosovo so why would we want to play along?

bganon

pre 16 godina

A better option is an annexe or cast iron promise stipulating that Serbian membership of the EU will not be conditional upon recognition of Kosovo.

There is not a chance in hell of the EU agreeing to Kostunica's demand and he (and all of us) knows this. The only logical conclusion is that Kostunica is pursuing this policy for internal consumption.

Kosovo's status will not be solved by gestures or sentiments designed only to appeal to sections of the Serbian people, rather Serbia needs the support of as many international countries as possible.

Signing the SAA is the best option at this stage.

This is pathetic! “Kosovo is Serbia” on SAA!!!! This is prohibited even on Olympics and not on SAA. Does he really believe that countries that recognized did it because they didn’t know what they were doing?
Kosovo never have been Serbia, now it is free.
Does anyone want his/her freedom taken away?
Kostunica’s propaganda is working well on folkloric minded people. Let see what happen in May 11.
