why don´t you just use your given name? is it not good enough for you?

(Randal Dewey, 14 April 2008 15:47)"

just in case you´re an american, keep cool! your power is on the way down. it´s only a question of time.

by the way, the powerful US-decisionmakers were not capable of hurting the yugoslav defenders, remember: only 15 destroyed tanks in 78 days....so, what are you talking about?
as far as we learn, your decisionmakers are losing about 30 servicemen per week in Iraq!
you can be proud of your "decisionmakers"

no doubt, you´re on the way down-hill. and we are patient.

Kosovo is Serbia.

Johny, your written Italian is poor, the same as I told for your English when you selected the usage of capital letters for nations. Sorry to tell you this, but I hope you will improve. Don't be mad, learn the grammar and I am sure that in time you can express yourself correctly. This is an English language site, so please lets stick to the rules. And as far as the rules are concerned, the same is valid for the democracy. Democratic societes favour the freeldom of speech and marginalize and punish hate speech.

I think there is no real chance that Kosovo will go back under serbian rule. The countries who recognized will never go back and undo this recognition. Albanians seem to want independence a lot more than Serbia wants the romantic notion of Kosovo, and of course that makes sense since they live there. I don't think that Albanians will care much if Kosovo will be a member of UN any time soon and they seem willing to endure the hardship that the temporary uncertainty of the status will bring upon them for a while.

As a historian I think, Kosovo was never Serbian anyway but that does not matter now. What matters now is that as the time passes Kosovo statehood will become stronger and stronger by day. US already opened the door to helping Kosovo build a strong army, and also help the new country re-build it's economy. If Kosovo creates a strong army, it's all over, and I bet you this will be their first objective.

EU most likely will find a way to integrate Kosovo in its community sooner or later, as it has been trying to take charge of this conflict, and show some influence in the matter. But it also thinks that integration is the best solution for peace, and that's right.

C'mon the great Serbia dream is over, just like the federal system of Belgium,
my people, the flemings have much in common with the people in Kosovo, they were more flemings than walloons in Belgium, but they always took our money,,,I think Kosovo had the same problem with the serbs living in Kosovo, the albanians worked and the serbs did the same as the walloons they took it away.
We people of Flanders entirely accept Kosovo as an Independent State we hope to do so very soon.

I thought Milosevic times were over. I understand now that the problem was not Milosevic, but I see that unfortunately there are millions of milosevic in Serbia. I'm Albanian but I honestly want a democratic Serbia to be part of Europe. I'm also against many nationalist Albanians everywhere and I really believe that Albanians could live with serbs in Kosovo.

But reading the comments here I see that you people of Serbia are still dreaming of Great Serbia.

You were the richest Eastern European country in 1990, Albania was ages behind you. What about now? You are even behind Albania as far as EU entry is concerned.

In 1990 you were the most developed country in Eastern Europe and now you are begging to get e visa in the embassies of EU countries.

What about now? Probably Kostunica and Nikolic will win. Milosevic 2 the Venedetta will come into power. Serbian people will waste another 4 years. Albania and other countries will be closer to Europe and Serbia will be the black hole.

If I were an Albanian nationalist i would very much like Kostunica to come into powr with Radicals. Kosovo will still be independent and more integrated into Europe. If you still think that North Kosovo could go to Serbia the same could do the Albanians in Presevo which is even more important to Serbia considering the transportation links.

Unfortunately for democratic Serbians things will go that way, Kostunica and Nikolic together, and the number of countries recognizing Kosovo will increase sharply.

After all if the Slavic nations such as Slovenian, Croatians, Bosnians and Macedoniand could not live together with another Slavic nation such as Serbians why should the Albanians be an exception?

I must comment again. Well, I presume that various Johns, Jonnys etc who furiosly comment here are living abroad and not in Kosovo. The same is valid for Serbian thugs here from California or Illinois. I would really appreciate more young people commenting directly from Kosovo, whether they be Serbs or Albanians, but unfortunately their voices are not heard here, becasue they for sure do not have money for computers and internet or can afford themeselves to idle the whole day, as our friends here from UK or USA do, and even steal their office time to send poignant darts. When a man is happy where he lives, he is not so much furious about political unjustisces thousands kilometers away, this is not a statistics but psychoanalytically proven fact: which all leads me to conclude that many comment-writers here have problems with the enviroment they live now in, and project their personal anger and problems onto others and in distance. So, please leave Kosovo to Kosovo citizens, and dedicate more love and care to yourselves.

To: my fellow Serbian human beings.

As we all know, when a country loses a war (or four wars}, it has no choice but to accept the axiom: "To the Victor go the spoils." Therefore, it behooves Serbia to not look back to its disasterous past but, to move foward and learn from its mistakes. All this foolishness about renegotiating to get control of Kosova is an exercize in futility.

It seems that Serbia has finally realized that it is Serbia that needs Kosova and not the other way around. In any event, Kosova is now and forever will be independent. Please do not threaten war as Serbia has learned how much war can set a country back. Therefore, have no illusions of sending military troops or the MUP back to Kosova since it will cost Serbia dearly.

Try to join the EU as well as NATO as this is the sure path to Democracy and economic prosperity for Serbia.

johny

pre 16 godina

First to answer Jovan's question. I use the name Johny because my real name in Albanian is Gjoni, which in English is Johny. I hope that satisfies your curiosity.

Second to all those Serbs, some of whom I think genuinely ask the question why Albanians did not accept the autonomy offered by Serbia. Leaving aside all the nationalistic ideas, and all the territorial claims, it all comes down one thing. Why on earth would we Albanians accept to depend on Serbia to be part of international organizations such as the World Bank or the IMF when we could be part of them even if Serbia does not want to and not depend on Serbia for our membership because first Serbia and Russia have no veto powers there, and second the countries that recognized us have the majority of votes there. With the autonomy we would have no UN seat and with what we have now we still have no UN seat. So no benefits to being autonomous under Serbia.
Second why on earth would we Albanians decide to be autonomous and dependent under Serbia, when Serbia itself depends on financial aid coming from the EU and the US ( I dare that person that stated he would grass to go eat some because only in the last couple of years Serbia has dependent financially from the EU and US by taking hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and grants). What we have today (so far) after Feb 17 is effectively autonomy under the EU and the US. Why would we decide to be dependent on Serbia which on its own dependent on the EU and US when we could link directly with the EU and the US.
Third why on earth should we Albanians accept autonomy and with that Serbian military personnel in Kosova (same military that killed us and ethnically cleansed us), when what we have now and what we want is NATO protection from Serbian military.
So you see there is much more benefits to us Albanians being recognized by the worlds most powerful countries than being autonomous under Serbia. Even the worst case scenario turns out to be much better than the autonomy proposal coming from Belgrade. Now tell me who in their right mind would voluntarily give up a position of advantage just because some Putin's puppets who comfortably live in Belgrade want to prolong their political career and get rich from Russian pipelines.
Who in their right mind would agree to have a middle man when we easily can get rid of the middle man. The middle man is Serbia which through their autonomy offer wants to decide our relationship with the US and EU when we could easily decide on our own the way things are now. And even if things stay the way they are now for 100 years it is still going to be better than Serbia's autonomy. Why on earth would we want to tie ourselves with a poor country (Serbia), when we can tie ourselves directly with the worlds most powerful economies and countries EU and US.
Now some Serbs state that NATO is not going to be there forever and is not going to protect you. What are you going to do after that?
Well if Serbia wants to start another war they can do it. We have learned that Serbia is good at starting wars but that it is also a sore loser.

As for Kostunica, I seriously hope he wins and forms a coalition government with Nikolic. Under his rule, we received the backing and recognition from the world most powerful countries. We need him to stay in power for another 8 years. Anti-US, Anti-EU and Anti-NATO attitudes in Serbia are good for our cause and our progress, that we will have for sure the votes of 3 veto holding countries in the UN and the backing of these countries and their allies in other international institutions. With Kostunica and Nikolic in power we will have a more powerful backing of the western world.

Dear James - I just thought I would enlighten you to some alarming mistakes in your posts. You say the K.Albanians haven't ethnically cleansed the Serbs from Kosovo ???

I guess what you meant to say was that they have not only ETHNICALLY CLEANSED THE SERBS BUT THAT THEY HAVE ALSO CLEANSED ALL THE OTHER ETHNIC GROUPS THAT LIVED THERE BEFORE 1999 TOO.

The FACTS are that the Albanian population has massively increased in the last 10 years while ALL others apart from a few Serbs remain. NOW - mr James what can you do about the FACTS?

Why do they give it if Serbia is not even a state...?

Maybe because, first of all, its not even their own money...
Remember China owns America and whats left over is either owned by the Gulf countries, Japs or Russians!

Thus for Americans, its easy come easy go...

The posts here totally prove Kostunica is right about his overall point which is "The story of Kosovo is not over."

What still remains is how the story will be written. The difference between Albanians and Serbs is that Albanians don't want to believe the Serbs have much of a part to play in this story. That's why the story will unfortunately have lots of tragedy.

Kostunica,

The Kosovo story was over the moment Milosevic send in his military in 1998-9 and started to ethnically cleanse Albanians, after being defeated in Croatia and Bosnia.

All he's doing is trying to get as many votes as possible.

To those who say he's a "great man for Serbia and a great politician", just wait till the elections are over. You won't hear anything like this again from Kostunica.

Kosovo is independent, recognized by the most powerful countries of the world, and is opening up 20 embassies in other capital cities this year alone. That's not going to change.

There's nothing Kostunica can do about it, except of course falsely pump up Serb nationalism with his speeches simply to grab their votes.

Serbs would be very naive to comply with him. They'll simply get Milosevic part II for another "brilliant" lost decade or so in this modern 21 century up till 2018 or so. If Serb voters want to have Kostunica as their leader until then, the more power to you.

Hopefully it won't end the same way as Milosevic part I.

I genuinely think that the international press now understands that right is actually on the right of democratic Serbia and it is the US and the EU that have messed things up by their political and diplomatic incompetence.

Milosevic is gone, but the west is still trying to punish Serbia. That cannot sustain forever.

If Serbia acts within its legal rights to reverse the abuse of 1244, then the international politicians will find it hard to justify any use of violence against Serbia.

If the west is trying to smash the will of democratic Serbia, that will in time need to be reversed and could lead to negative results for the region. Serbia is too significant to be treated that way.

Further, economically and politically the best future for all is not a toy state, but an autonomous economic region has sustainable good relations with its neighbours on the basis of both agreement and the force of international law. That cannot ever be the case as things stand - the current situation will never be stable.

James

Dear friends!

Kosovo is clearly an independent state. On june the 25.e UNMIK will put the rule of Kosovo into the hands of the Kosovo goverement. There is nothing nobody can do to stop this devolpment. Serbia try'ed to stop Kosovo from being an independent state but now Kosova has it's on flag and it's own constitusion. We are now going throug a 120 days of transition wich K.albanisn will have full control over Kosovos territorium.

Now serbs dream away by saing that '' Kosovo is Serbia''. Of course it is but not in reality. Only in the dreams of some serb people. And to dream is not illegely. =)

And in the future Kosovo will be a member of Nato just like Albania. So in 20, 100, 200 years Kosovo is safe from Serbia.

Serbia has no interest in ruling the K-Albanians and it would practically be impossible anyway, just like the Albanians think they could rule the Serbs.

All of Serbia's proposals offer the Albanians self-rule. There is no question about it.

Serbia's interests is to preserve its borders and as it currently stands the overwhelming majority of the world agrees us. Kosovo is Serbian but currently occupied. Given time, that occupation will be removed by the will of the people.

Albanians will rule themselves within the borders of Serbia. I am with Koštunica, we just need to be patient. These occupiers have a good history of messing things up so optimism isn't difficult to find.

I would be happy if USA and EU made out of Kosovo a prosperous country, where all Albanians and Serbs could find better opportuinities for their lives. So that those who escaped from Kosovo could also return to their homes. In that case Serbia could change even its Constitution and recognise Kosovo as an independent state. BUT, America and EU will NEVER open opportunites for Kosovo's people better life. They recognised Kosovo with one goal only: to weaken Serbia, which is very unproductive if they do not work on creating a prosperous country in Kosovo. The facts always speak better than promises: the first thing America did for Kosovo is selling the rifles to its puppet government. EU did similar thing, by opening job opportuinities for its policemen and bureaucracy out of its budget. I respect more Russia's coherence who cut its budget for its soldiers on Kosovo by moving them out, and sent food and medicines to Kosovo's Serbs.

dear "James" you are free to write about your fantasies...but, as a matter of fact, nothing of it is reality! UNSC 1244 is in effect, more than 150 states are laughing about you behind closed doors, and last but not least...you completely depend on the US and some of their "allies". that´s nothing for eternity, my dear. but one thing is for sure! Serbia will be there, when the moment has come.

and you will experience it. let´s hope that you have not torched one of those churches.. since all those who were filmed while doing that... will be held accountable.

So, please leave Kosovo to Kosovo citizens, and dedicate more love and care to yourselves.

johny

pre 16 godina

EU did similar thing, by opening job opportuinities for its policemen and bureaucracy out of its budget. I respect more Russia's coherence who cut its budget for its soldiers on Kosovo by moving them out, and sent food and medicines to Kosovo's Serbs.

And, just to add to Gaz-UK's comment (see No.15):...and all you pretending to be hard as rock (Kostunica-like) nationalists will be ashamed of what you are saying right now. Just like some of those from the Milosevic times, now living in US, UK. Switzerland etc. telling everybody that "they are in fact Croats", never attended the famous Yogurt Revolution meetings" etc...

As far as "you" and Kosovo(a) relationship is concerned, it will be just like "You" and Skadar(Shkoder)/Trieste/Slovenia/Croatia/Bosnia/Macedonia/Montenegro/we don't talk to terrorists, even if we'll have to feed ourselves grass roots only/KS independence will never happen etc.

This is a REAL man and a real politician in a free country.

Koštunica and Nikolic will and have indeed the guts to lead Serbia out of it´s hostile environment of western threats Albanian gangsterism and IMF-slavery.

pre 16 godina

Pera

pre 16 godina

James likewise the only way Albanians will be masters of Kosovo is by culling every living Serb. Now where does that leave us ?
For those mature enough to analyse and delve a little deeper it will gradually become apparent that the only way forward is for the Albanians to accept autonomy with Kosovo remaining as it already is a legal a part of Serbia.

In my opinion Kostunica is a political moderate not a hard line Nationalist. He speaks the truth more then the majority of politicians here in the US.

Q, I don’t know any Serbs here that are ashamed of being Serbian and call themselves Croatian. Why would we want anyone to believe we are Croatians with their DOCUMENTED FASCIST past and present? Serbians have always fought on the side of freedom against tyranny and enslavement. Today is no different, another round has come upon us and Serbs everywhere will stand on the RIGHT side again! I can’t think of another ethnic group that I would rather be a part of and proclaim it loud & clear to everyone (In the US or wherever I am).

To all you lovers of falsehood;

I am SERBIAN!!!

If Kostunica and Tadic hate America than why do they accept over 150mn Euro a year from America? -
Why do they give it if Serbia is not even a state...?

Maybe because, first of all, its not even their own money...
Remember China owns America and whats left over is either owned by the Gulf countries, Japs or Russians!

Thus for Americans, its easy come easy go...
Either to kill Iraqis/Afghans/Palestinians/Lebanese or to save Kosovars/Israelis...
Take your choice...!!

Dear "James",

As a Krajina Serb, I too thought that the Croatians would never fight to take our lands.... but they did.

If Krajina is Croatia (which I personally still do not accept), then Kosovo is Serbia, I can assure you.

The Albanians are being very foolish in not accepting Serbia's autonomy offer, it's the most generous of anywhere in the world... we Krajina Serbs can only dream of such things now.

Take the deal, or else, when politics change in 20 years, you will be in VERY big trouble.

James:
> That's the true story mr. "PM"

No James.

The actual truth is that as long as K-albanians do not have the approval of the people & the state of Serbia, they will never be truly independent - as the very existence of their 'pseudo-state' will be utterly dependent on NATO maintaining its presence in Kosovo.

And they will not be there forever.

ZK UK

pre 16 godina

Bob

pre 16 godina

He is right.

I will never understand why some Albanians can´t write under a albanian name! instead of that they pretend to be some "James" or "John" or whatever...

dear "James" you are free to write about your fantasies...but, as a matter of fact, nothing of it is reality! UNSC 1244 is in effect, more than 150 states are laughing about you behind closed doors, and last but not least...you completely depend on the US and some of their "allies". that´s nothing for eternity, my dear. but one thing is for sure! Serbia will be there, when the moment has come.

When someone argues that a world superpower has recognised Kosovo with its bases in place to protect it, that is nothing more than confirmation of a puppet entity. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puppet_state

That link describes Kosovo to a tee. Take the occupiers out of the equation and what do you have? The world is on Serbia's side - the emerging and resurging powers are having none of this independence nonsense!

History has proven Serbia always to be on the right side so patience is all we need.
