wow, is this Jesus himself speaking...?!

I am very glad that Ceda exists. because he clearly shows the level of consciousness and diversity of intellect in contemporary Serbia which is something the Serbs should be given credit for (especially when compared to 'democratic' K-Albanians).

Under Tito, Serbs payed taxes for the development of Kosovo.

That is part of the reason Serbs insist that they own it.

What actually happened seems to be that money was put under the control of the ethnic Albanian communist party in Kosovo. I gather that they were the ones for which the term 'ethnic cleansing' was first used (to describe how they used their resources to evict Serbs from the region).

here is a man that speaks logic. i was born and raised in kosova and saw my serb friends and brothers (same for bosnians and any macedonian - very few).

people want peace and jobs to live and be able to go on vacations.

also - to all the Serbs that say "kosovo is serbia" - why was it the most under-developed region in yugo - why did serbs leave such a holy place to be so under-developed if they cared so much. we all know the truth - serbs use kosovo for political gains just like milosevic did and just like the others are today. they dont care about the serbs there or the albanians.

i, too, am surprised. first, that our cedi is showcased here, fairly, and well-covered, not just the usual rumors and libels. and second, that there actually is some calm and rational support inside serbia for a liberal, progressive and pragmatic candidate like cedi. i really hope that he and his party make a decent showing...

can you imagine, such a radical concept as having serbs and albanians tryng to communicate with one another, instead of using the situation as just more fodder for hate-mongering and cheap political gain? how utterly radical.

as to comparisons btwn djindjic's fate and that of cedi, i have warned of it many, many times. god forbid.

The countries of the EU did not make friends until after they had resolved their issues by having conclusive wars.

In the case of the second world war, even Germany is in agreement that Hitler was a very bad thing. There are no real disputes remaining, hence the EU becomes a workable proposition.

The situation in the Balkans is not the same.

Currently there are no reasons to be friends and there is unfinished business.

I was a bit surprised to see all these Ceda suporters, posting on this article.

Even if half of the pro Ceda posts come from Albanians and western europeans, it still leaves five or six posts.

This means that Ceda got every single member of the LDP and all of their supporters to write a post.

I say that teaching the ceda suporters, who I presume are preteen girls, how to use a computer is american money well spent.

Serbia kneels to no one Ceda, and it matter very much to the families and victims of the wretched murderer that Haradinaj is behind bars for the rest of his miserable pathetic life.

Few hundred people? wow some strong support there... haha

I knew it was coming, I mean the solution for Serbia-Kosovo problem. If we elect Ceda for president, Albanians will come begging to be united with Serbia to enjoy presidency of such a brilliant man, unique in the Balkans, even in the world, born to save it from implosion. Cessiah is here!!!

This guy is a way ahead of his time - I can only hope that he doesn't have the same fate as Dindic (sp?).

I wish the Balkans had more people like him - truly, this would've been a magnificent opportunity to leave the old non-sense behind and work for a better future - a future that would set a standard for the rest of the world in where conflicts still strive.

Mr. Jovanovic, you have my sympathies and completely agree with your views. Now if only the people can actually stick their heads out of the sand, what a world would the Balkans be ...

Come on Jovanović, be brave and talk to your masters. Tell them to show us the way. Serbia needs guidance.

Put Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, George Bush, Solana and all the other war criminals before a war crimes tribunal for the massive death and destruction they have caused throughout this world.

You never know, Serbia may then consider your request.

Were those your words Cedo, or the words of Richard Holbrooke?
This self-hating Serb needs to move to Albania, because they love him so much down there. Cedo, please take Natasa Kandic, Nenad Canak, and Sonja Biserko with you. You all have so much in common - you are all part of the fifth column inside of Serbia, working for her destruction.

This guy is like a breath of fresh air for Serbian politics and Serbian people. He is one of the most prominent democratic figures in the Serbian politics.

Vuk- i agree with you that he doesn't have the answers to the problems, however, out of all the politicians in both Serbia and Kosova he appears to be on the right path in order to reconcile the two communities in order for our predecessors to live in peace.

In contrast to other Serbian politicians Mr Jovanovich has demonstrated that he actually understand the magnitude of the problems amongst Serbian and Albanian communities and is willing to work towards reconciling a very ancient hatred to which other Serbian politician only inflate the ill fillings with their rhetoric for their personal gains.

Considering his previous statements and debates on current affairs, it could be argued that Mr Jovanovich is one of the most realistic and objective politicians, not only in Serbia but in the whole Balkans.

Finally something else than all the war rethoric. Finally someone who have actually read history books and learned from them.

I don't think this man has all the answers to our problems, but it is refreshing to hear talks about reconciliation, and not just the Milosevic rethoric that has been in fashion lately.

Now I can understand why some westerners are defining the Balkan tribes sometimes as Slaves and sometimes as Slavs.
No wonder after such statements from a man that wants to lead the Serbs.

Mike

I agree with Cedo on one thing here: taking responsibility for K-Serbs.

Rather than sit in Belgrade and repeat what is in my opinion empty slogans of "Kosovo je crce Srbija", GO to Kosovo and help out the Serbs who live there. Form grass-roots movements to assist in their daily lives. Organize NGOs and other civic movements. Help to improve their living conditions, their security, and their general health. Work to ensure that the next generation of promising students do not buy the next one-way ticket out of Kosovo and move to Belgrade.

And maybe, just maybe, work to establish some form of working conditions between the Serbs and their immediate Albanian neighbors. Places like Orahovac, where there is a clear minority of Serbs, but still large enough to form a notable presence, is a good case study of working to establish cooperation. They don't have to like each other, but they can at least learn to live next to each other.
