Thaci: U.S. embassy, magnificent deed

Since hooligans burned the US embassy in Belgrade -- Now Serbs can come to Prishtina and seek US Visas. Come and visit Kosovo and get a glimpse of reality. Walk the streets of Prishtina, talk to the locals. You will get a sense that Kosovo is a changed country. Kosovars have high hopes that once the EU mission takes over the real change will take place. I agree with Mr. Thaqi that the openning of the US embassy is certainly a magnificient thing.

Kosovars are forever thankful the US for liberating Kosovo.

Another Green Zone, no doubt - a highly fortified structure supported by local lackeys.

This is where the puppet masters are housed. They were pulling the right strings when Thaci's mouth splurted out the words "magnificent deed".

However, there's nothing really new here as these Albanian masters have been there for quite some time.

Just by reading the Serb camp, shows how disappointed they sound. I don't get why guys are surprised by this in first place, you thought the Americans where joking?

Unlike the Russian, they go all the way and have always done. One of the reasons that make the US the worlds leading country in every aspect.

I am expecting some comentators saying that US Embassy is open now but will have to close soon , because they will withdraw the recognition. I hear everything lese so even this one will not be a suprise.
By the way ,I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the country that I have been naturilized citizen for some time now, which has kelped my contry to come this far.

Bravo to the USA!lets see now how many Visas ll issue to the Albanians that love them so much....i believe that a few.I want an albanian to let me know how many countries have recognized kosovo i metohia so far?And even more how many countries there are in the whole world.Enjoy ur USA embassy.....

Serbian people, what is so wrong with the embassy? Its sure as the sun that there will be a Serbian embassy in Kosovo, sooner or later but it will be.
The embassy is one of the many that will come, Switzerland, Germany England Italy France Holland and so many more will come. Will you complain every day? Is that how Serbs support regional stability?
I can understand the anger, i mean all of the posters in here that are the diaspora of Serbia know that the country's that are taking care of the Serbs overseas already Have accepted the independence as a Fact. And playing with numbers of who recognised and who has not. You will see more and more country's accepting the Facts.

Everyday i read a comment on yhis site i see the whole picture more clearly in regards to Kosovo. I notice the serb camp how insulting they can be towards the Albanians in general. but the truth is that that is precisely what they are left with "insults" it seems to me that they even are aware of the new reality and there is nothing that can retract Kosovos independence. You serbs keep on insulting there is nothing worse that you can do to hurt Albanians that you havent done in the last century. for goodness sake i used to find interesting some of the comment made by the serb camp. i understand your cause but comeon guys kosovo isan independent country now and i am certain as of june of this year soon as EULEX kicks in. Kosovo will seem even further from Serbia.

I agree that Serbia can’t stop US – Wild west-cowboys charge. But, be aware – Kabul, Baghdad and now Pristina are fully-finally liberated. Real democracy is on its way from Iraq, Afghanistan to newborn Kosovo.

yes we were serious about recognizing the newly independent Kosova. i personally plan to return to pristina this august, and will be so very pleased to see our embassy.

i believe that so far independence has been going pretty well, all things considered. yes we are up against a host of challenges, but the people of kosova (most) are doing a great job. keep it up, ignore the detractors, and keep yr eyes on the prize.

Have you noticed all this 'gimmickery' is being played out in the lawlessness of Kosovo alone? In opening the US embassy in Pristina, why didn't the US as a sign of good will and friendship open a Kosovo embassy in New York or Washington? It's fine for all this messing around and 'fakeness' to happen in Kosovo, but let's see them take it to the next step and open a Kosovo embassy back home. My thoughts, it'll never happen!

With no disrespect, why is Thaci ever even quoted in the press? He has absolutely no power in Kosovo, he must do what his authority tells him to do. Is it just to make some sort of show, for the Albanians? His redundant quotes are, well, redundant. His voice is nothing. The power comes from UNMIK.

I wonder if the house that the american emassy now resides in belonged to some etnicly cleansed serb?

NO country has recognized Kosovo i Metohija, because Kosovo i Metohija is NOT a country.
If you meant How many countries have recognized KOSOVO ( Not kosovo i metohija) then the answer is 36 and counting.
What is important is that Kosovo has been recognized by most powerfull countries such as G7 (USA, UK, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and Japan).
I like the writing of Mr. Berisha above when he said "since hooligans burnded US Embassy in Belgrade they can come and get a US visas in US Embassy in Prishtina".
