Poettering said that the EU “will never forget what dictator Slobodan Milošević did,” but that it wanted to turn to the future

-We can also never forget NATO bombing, we will also never forget your support for war criminals that were set free by the so called court of justice in Hague. If we go in earlier history, we will never forget crimes committed against humanity in Serbia by Germany. But we are also ready to move to the future as soon as the EU back off from Serbia. I am sure we can move forward much faster without your generous help. Please, take Haradinaj et al with you in the EU.

Poettering said that Serbia was in “a very difficult situation,” and that the EU was ready to help. I thought April fools day was over I see that Brussels would like to extend it. Who put Serbia in a “a very difficult situation,” could it be EU Brussels. BRUSSELS -- Hans-Gert Poettering says he wants to use his influence to help Serbia sign the SAA as soon as possible. If Serbia signs the SAA the illegal demands will be coming one after another until Serbia loses its self respect and its total independence to the hypocrites anonymous club in Brussels.

"He said that he did not want to get involved in the Serbian election campaign, but that he hoped that the results of the election would offer the country a chance for further European integration. "

- clearly what he says is a total contradiction in terms just as much as Dulic visiting the EU parliment when Tadic only yesterday ruled out Parliment approval of the NIS deal because government cannot pass it - same thus goes for SAA!

DS sucking up to the EU results in nothing more then ever more conditions and sticks with which Serbia is blackmailed with a smaller and smaller carrot.

Serbia was not in the EU last year but posted a 7.5% growth rate so the question remains to be proved that EU membership persay is economically beneficial. Given last years growth it seems to be more promising economically outwith if not more so in comparison to EU growth of 2.7% last year and a forecast of a poor 1.8% for 2008! So what exactly is the economic case for Serbia to join the EU ? Free trade, visa less travel, improving Serbian insituitions etc.. sure but that does not require EU membership! This is not isolationism but realisation of globalism - why restrict Serbia's development to within just the EU when there is the whole world? Beyond that the western economic model is currently showing signs of major structural shortcomings!
