peter, thanks for the laughs. you really take your i'm-neutral-here assignment seriously don’t you, facts don’t get in your way ;) anyway, aftermath of war? this guy killed, raped and tortured in 1998. war was in 1999. all out war, that is what i think you're talking about, but hey there's no way of knowing ;) so all out war happened because of actions of albanian terrorists who since 1997 created warzones in kosovo where they attacked police and civilians, while as usual belgrade was doused in folk music and not seeing further than its stupid and not particularly pretty nose btw. not a lot of people in belgrade will tell you they were aware war was going on in kosovo 97, 98, and that their police was involved fighting it, dying and getting wounded. they only realized there was war when bombs started falling on them. so it goes.
so then why should you know any of this, obviously balkans is not your forte.
as for the trial, it wasnt up to serbs to prove anything, i'll get to whats up to us later. this is a un court case. and, no evidence? no witnesses, friend. most albanians, future eu members :)) and this really has me howling with laughter, live in this clan, tribal society. witnesses if they told the truth about this bouncers crimes could have their whole family dead as per, a variation of blood feud. but why am i telling you this, you don’t even know the chronology of the war for godsakes. much less have you ever walked past two meter high brick walls where europe's 'latest newborned' nation keeps its families :) a basic understanding of everyday kosovo is needed so to understand what is unleashed on europe with this experiment.
but as for the bouncer, and the same goes for the villager who put on a suit and calls himself pm, like i said, they're both on our list. the fat lady sings when the trials in belgrade are over.

Courts however recognise facts , not propaganda. History will not be ambiguous as to who carries blood on their hands. I only wish that one day the Serbs will recognise the facts and express genuine regret and sorrow and distance themselves from their dark past. True reconciliation can then begin.

Ana,

I think what Berat meant was that Albanians have always lived in their own land, no one elses. That Slobo - inspired Serbs see it differently does not change the fact that in the Balkans Serbs are the latest to arrive, and of course the latest to attack all neighbours.

Marco from Amsterdam,
Haradinaj propably held many jobs before he became (a very good) pm - how is that related to the court case?

Ps: Any news on Karadzic and Mladic? Genuinely curious to know whether the Serbs in this forum at least consider them to be heroes or thugs of a brutal war on innocent civilians?

Ratko,

It seems that “Kosovo mafia and drug barons managed to buy Hague Tribunal” as well.
Or would it be a simple case of an innocent person is set free, don’t you think?

Now to the level of the recognition of Kosovo:

I believe that the following information gives a more in-depth analysis of the extend of the recognition.

Formally recognized by 3 out of 5 UN Security Council (UNSC) Permanent Member States or 60%
Formally recognized by 18 out of 27 European Union (EU) Member States or 66.67%
Formally recognized by 19 out of 26 NATO Member States or 73.08%
Formally recognized by 26 out of 47 Council of Europe (COE) Member States or 55.32%
Formally recognized by 28 out of 56 OSCE Member States or 50%
Formally recognized by 7 out of 7 G7 Member Countries or 100%
(and by 7 out of 8 G8 (G7 + Russia) Member Countries or 87.5% )
Countries that formally recognise Kosova make up 69.4% of the World's Total nominal GDP

I suppose if they have no proof, then how can they prosecute the guy? Why does it hurt the Serbs so much that he was set free when they have no proof that he actually did anything wrong to them?

While indeed there were many cases of KLA members killing Serbian civilians in the aftermath of the war, I am certain this was done by certain elements of the KLA wanting to take revenge, but I doubt there was any systematic campaign against them by certain individuals like Haradinaj, for example.

This ruling has just again showed what an absolute joke this court has been. This was no doubt only set up for the sole basis to indite only the Serbs therefore giving the idea to the western media that they are to blame for all problems in the Balkans. The fact is that the brave Serbs have only tried to protect their own people and land despite being surrounded by hate fueled enemies. Doesn't anyone find it peculiar that all witnesses against this monster have all been murdered by his KLA minions?

Dear all,

Whatever you call it, everyone who knows what happened in Kosovo understands that KLA fighters were created by Milosevic's regime.

No one can put on equal footing a fight between an agressor and defender. We all know Serb machine aimed to ethnically cleanse Kosovo, but if it wasn't for KLA and NATO that would have been achieved. Actually was nearly achieved. About 1 mil Albanians were ethnincally cleansed.

Does this ring a bell to you?

Those who stood against ethnic cleansing should not be put in prison.

well BRANKO_UK, what do you think? Is the whole world wrong and only serbs are right or perhaps the other way?
The serbs were not punished just because they were serbs but because of the crimes they did.
You have to understand the facts that serbs tried to start a war in Slovenia, started the war in Croatia and did horrible crimes, started the war in Bosnia and did horrible crimes, started the war in Kosova and did horrible crimes... So what do you think the outcome will be like?
I would honestly suggest to you and other serbs to stop and think for a moment about what leaders like Milosevid did to you and to your neighbors. You have been following a really horrible propaganda setup by Milosevic and his alikes. Unfortunately you are still being a victim of that same propaganda but now not being setup by Milosevic but by Kostunica.
I am not trying to mock or offend anyone in this case but I would really suggest to you to stop and thing of the whole picture of how Yugoslavia was destroyed.

Yes the whole world is against Serbia, and the whole world is jealous of Serbia. What a naive way of thinking.

Thus it is understandable for them to be dismayed. Here you have one of the highest echelons of Albanian politics, willingly walking to the Hague and offering himself to justice. The court decided that he is not guilty.
When the Serb people talk about justice, please remember Mladic and Karadzic. Also please remember that you regard yourselves as the most zealous defenders of international law. This court is one of the main mechanisms of international law. Using the worst and lowest words to describe this court, which as I said is a very critical part of international law, just shows that Serbia and the Serbs do not really care or have any regards towards international law. All they really want is for things and issues to go in Serbia's favor, and when they don't, then the Serbs consider the whole world to be corrupted and against them, like our poster Branko here in these boards.

If comments from Kosovar Albanians that are posted on this blog are in any way representative of the wider Albanian sentiment in Kosovo (and I have no doubt that they are), then you should have no problem comprehending why Serbs will always refuse to live under your yoke. Don't get me wrong, I can understand, though not support, your desire to secede from Serbia after what Milosevic and his minions did to Albanians. But everything that he did, Haradinaj and his minions did to Serbs in Kosovo (revenge is not a legitimate justification, even if it has been used as such throughout Balkan history). So, if you're going to go your own way, we're going to go ours. That means you can kiss Zvecan, Leposavic, Zubin Potok, North Mitrovica, Strpce, Gracanica, itd. goodbye.

I just watched the news on Dutch television and the Haradinaj verdict received quite some attention. A Dutch reporter stated that thousands of K-Serbs were chased from their lands and a great number of Serbs were killed by the KLA (note that this was mentioned by a Dutch reporter!). Also, it was said that many witnesses were afraid to testify in the Hague. Hence, there was just not enough evidence against Haradinaj. Before Haradinaj became a guerilla leader he apparently worked as a bouncer in a bar.

A shocking decision that will only fuel the notion among Serbs and Roma that the so called Hague Tribunal is one sided. After the acquital of Oric and now this, I'm beginning to think along those lines as well. Intimidation of witnesses etc. unbelievable.

It seems that the life of K-Serb and Roma is worth less than that of a K-Albanian. A terrible move which no doubt was made under political pressure and has as we speak has undermined any trust among any of the non-Albanian in Pristina or any of its illegal institutions.

I said it before, if you kill, rape and pillage on behalf of the Empire, you can expect to get off scot free. See My Lai.

So much for a fair trial and a sense of justice. I'm appalled that the 'Team Kosova' camp is cheering on this murdering criminal scumbag. Those Roma and Serb families affected by the actions of this repugnant human being will have to carry a terrible burden of seeing a murderer walk.

I am absolutey thrilled to hear that news that Haradinaj is innocent! I have always believed inside that he was inocent. He showed a great dignity and personality by going himself to the Hague and answering the accusations. Absolutely great news for the Albanians and their just fight agaist the Serbian oppression!

Responding to Kostunica comments that

"This decision of the Hague Tribunal represents a mockery of justice and a mockery of the innocent victims who suffered at the hands of Haradinai," Koštunica said in a strongly worded statement this afternoon in Belgrade.

What does this guy think that he is judge and jury? His statements are always pathetic but this one is one of the worst.
The justice is on the Albanian side that noone can twist it!

I think it would be good idea that Thaci invites Haradinaj in his government. Haradinaj has great merits of freeing Kosova from Serbia!

Anna,

Let me answer you the question to Berat. I am sure that will excuse me.
KLA has the merit that got the Kosovars all together to fight against the ruthless regime in the Balkan and I really believe that if it was not for the KLA Kosova would have been under Serbia.

When you Serbs will stop playing Calimero?

The court takes decisions based on FACTS not on your PROPAGADNA.

Two were set free the third got 6 years.

Dardan

pre 16 godina

Courts however recognise facts , not propaganda. History will not be ambiguous as to who carries blood on their hands. I only wish that one day the Serbs will recognise the facts and express genuine regret and sorrow and distance themselves from their dark past. True reconciliation can then begin.

Dardan

Yes the whole world is against Serbia, and the whole world is jealous of Serbia. What a naive way of thinking.

Thus it is understandable for them to be dismayed. Here you have one of the highest echelons of Albanian politics, willingly walking to the Hague and offering himself to justice. The court decided that he is not guilty.

well BRANKO_UK, what do you think?
As a suggestion i would give you one link to a documentary where you can see the destruction of Yugoslavia where even the serb leaders talk about how Milosevic destroyed everything, even Ivan Stambolic and others.

Bravo ICTY, now I believe in international justice.

Peter Sudyka

pre 16 godina

I suppose if they have no proof, then how can they prosecute the guy? Why does it hurt the Serbs so much that he was set free when they have no proof that he actually did anything wrong to them?

While indeed there were many cases of KLA members killing Serbian civilians in the aftermath of the war, I am certain this was done by certain elements of the KLA wanting to take revenge, but I doubt there was any systematic campaign against them by certain individuals like Haradinaj, for example.

Of course you didn't go to Serbia because you LIVED in Serbia...

As far as mentioning bmrusila and myself, let me tell you one thing:

We have never stated that all of you were terroris, but now, reading your comment and seeing how much you worship KLA what do you think? How should we really consider you?

"prosecutors in Kosovo and The Hague say the United Nations and Western governments bent over backward to prevent his prosecution, and that the sense of impunity around him scared away witnesses." From the New York Times. No comment needed. Perfect timing too. Thanx, UN court!

I think it is about time that you Serbs stop deluding yourself and think that the Western world are on your side. This acquittal was expected. What you need to do is to end the co-operation with this so-called "tribunal" and forget about EU. I am Swedish and we have been in the EU for 13 years. Believe me, you are not missing anything. Conclude a military alliance with Russia instead and allow the Russians a military base. That will be the best for you.

Hmmm - it sounds to me like justice was twisted quite a bit: "What is important is that nine witness linked to the Haradinai case have been killed in the 2003 - 2007 period. One survived an assassination attempt,"

EA, is this true? Did these witnesses die of unnatural causes?

I just watched the news on Dutch television and the Haradinaj verdict received quite some attention. A Dutch reporter stated that thousands of K-Serbs were chased from their lands and a great number of Serbs were killed by the KLA (note that this was mentioned by a Dutch reporter!). Also, it was said that many witnesses were afraid to testify in the Hague. Hence, there was just not enough evidence against Haradinaj. Before Haradinaj became a guerilla leader he apparently worked as a bouncer in a bar.

So an Albanian terrorist goes free - and his supporters hail the freedom fighter who saved The Kosovo Albanians - face facts...your KLA did not save you Albanians - but it was the US and the EU with the dreadful bombing of Serbia - justice will prevail one day and Serbia with Kosovo as an integral part of it's borders will be together again...........let me see 36 out of 192 countries recognise Kosovo as a illegal statelet!!

That means you can kiss Zvecan, Leposavic, Zubin Potok, North Mitrovica, Strpce, Gracanica, itd. goodbye.

Doesn't anyone find it peculiar that all witnesses against this monster have all been murdered by his KLA minions?

peter, thanks for the laughs. you really take your i'm-neutral-here assignment seriously don’t you, facts don’t get in your way ;) anyway, aftermath of war? this guy killed, raped and tortured in 1998. war was in 1999. all out war, that is what i think you're talking about, but hey there's no way of knowing ;) so all out war happened because of actions of albanian terrorists who since 1997 created warzones in kosovo where they attacked police and civilians, while as usual belgrade was doused in folk music and not seeing further than its stupid and not particularly pretty nose btw. not a lot of people in belgrade will tell you they were aware war was going on in kosovo 97, 98, and that their police was involved fighting it, dying and getting wounded. they only realized there was war when bombs started falling on them. so it goes.
so then why should you know any of this, obviously balkans is not your forte.
as for the trial, it wasnt up to serbs to prove anything, i'll get to whats up to us later. this is a un court case. and, no evidence? no witnesses, friend. most albanians, future eu members :)) and this really has me howling with laughter, live in this clan, tribal society. witnesses if they told the truth about this bouncers crimes could have their whole family dead as per, a variation of blood feud. but why am i telling you this, you don’t even know the chronology of the war for godsakes. much less have you ever walked past two meter high brick walls where europe's 'latest newborned' nation keeps its families :) a basic understanding of everyday kosovo is needed so to understand what is unleashed on europe with this experiment.
but as for the bouncer, and the same goes for the villager who put on a suit and calls himself pm, like i said, they're both on our list. the fat lady sings when the trials in belgrade are over.
