Oh, yes and all stories about "poor Albanians" being victims of "evil Serbs"...most famous one, the photo of emaciated Albanian behind barbed wire - Fikret Abdic was his name, was it ?

(Boris, 4 April 2008 01:56)

Boris,
You seem to have gone to a great extend on tracing the information just to miss very important facts.
1. The name of the person seem to be Fikret Alic and not Fikret Abbdic (it is there in the article you posted).
2. The person is a Bosnian (Bosanac) and not Albanian
3. The picture was taken in 1992 (the war in Kosovo was in 1999). In 200 years time 7 years error might not seem a lot but in 16 years it does.
To summarize, It is a photo of an emaciated Bosnian behind barbed wire.
When Serbs accept the fact that massacres were done in their name by Serb Paramilitaries and Serbian Army, Kosovo Albanians will try to forgive.

Olf : "...after all, term ethic cleansign originates form Serbian army actions in Yugoslavia..."

Actually, term "ethnic cleansing" originates from actions of Croatian army in Medak pocket, which cleansed about 200000 Serbs form their homeland in Serbian Krajina. Dubbed "Operation Storm", supported by USA and lead by no one else but Agim Ceku, the head of Albanian KPC or whatever you call it. No wonder, Kosovo Serbs have serious reason to expect the worst from Albanian "police force", headed by ethnic cleanser. You should know your history better, Olf...somehow I am sure though, these facts will make you only more proud.

Mr Ruecker, when eventually you're leaving Kosovo and Metohia, please take as well Mr Feith with you since there's no place for him either in this province.

You have been threatening for at least a week now...

As far as I am concerned, you can leave this evening. But I do guess your huge pay check is not letting you go...

Olf:

Good point & yes, the thought has occurred to me - is why I suggested Galluci as a replacement for Ruecker.

Also, plans from brussels are to draw personnel for illegal EULEX from UNMIK & this could be start of a top-down process.

But once again, all this is speculation - source is K-albanian paper in pristina & follows on demonstration against Galluci yesterday. All this could just as easily be attempt to destabilise his position.

And anyway, UN has many sources from which to draw replacements.

We shall see.

I think this tiff says more about the intractability of the Kosovo conflict than it does about UN operations. Any administrator must sympathize to some degree with their interlocutors. In Kosovo, apparently, that means that you become as locked into your positions as the ethnic groups you're supposed to mediate between.

This is symptomatic of dysfunction in Kosovo, not the UN. Their task is impossible, and the EU will also very soon learn this as well.

Olf,
Serbian forces will have to intervene and halt the Albanian forces, which have a desire to complete the cleansing of the remaining Serbs. After all, Serbia is more experienced with ground forces and will deter any Albanian so called "vacuum".

So, there is not enough room in Kosovo for the Ruecker and Rossin and Galluci.

How foolish they look and another example of why the UN is ineffective.

Seems to me that these are very “small” men with very big egos. So much for cooperation, compromise and working for the common good.

Who knows if these “diplomatic sources” are credible or if they even exist.
If this story proves to be true, Ban needs to tell these “boys” that they need to behave themselves.

This could also be a possible sign that UN regrets their onslaught on Mitrovica recently and their hellbent policy to please albanians and cleanse Kosovo from Serbs.

The post of Kosovo 'supremo' has been filled with mediocre yes men, and to a man none of them have carried out their jobs in an impartial manner.

Let us hope that Ruecker's resignation is accepted and somebody worthy of respect can be appointed (putting aside my personal view on Kosovo).

I cant stand and not ask a question to Peter, Another Canadien. What is going to happen to UNMIK after they resign?
Is the ground being prepared for EULEX from UNMIK in order to avoid vacuum?

Can't help but question the source of this report.

If true, then good.

They should both resign. And then be brought up on charges for interferring with the Hague's case against Haradinaj.

Ban could then replace Ruecker with Galluci. Decision should sit well with K-albanians as Galluci is US citizen & they love americans.

Is so guys?

I guess Ruecker and Rossin can finally become border guards for Northern Kosovo. Hopefully, they will finally find a career that they are good at. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Good luck on your new found careers!
