> The only unfortunate outcome of Kosova’s independence is the positioning of some on the Serbian diaspora against the same western values that raised and educated them.

I was indeed raised & educated to respect the rule of law sir. Nothing I have stated in my previous post gainsays this.

> Kosovar draft constitution is a historical document compiled under best advice and references. As such it guarantees the respect of individual and community rights, including the rights of the Kosovo Serbs, under the rule of law.

Since you don't seem to have gotten the point, I will say it again.

The K-albanian so-called constitution is worthless & guarantees nothing if K-albanians ignore it & the rule of law.

The Hague has just released it's verdict on the trial against Ramush Haradinaj - ex-KLA commander & the former pm of the so-called K-albanian 'pseudo-state'.

Verdict was not guilty.

Charges against this barbarian included murder, rape & torture.

Prosecution failed to convict not because the man was innocent, but because of evidence tampering & witness intimidation. And this is not only my opinion.. is also the opinion of Carla del Ponte - who just retired as head of the Hague tribunal.

And what has been the reaction from the pro K-albanian camp?

Jubilation & celebration.

I have yet to see one post from any of them which shows any degree of remorse or shame for the actions of this man.

So much for K-albanian respect for the rights & lives of minorities, & the rule of law.

It simply does not exist.

Bmrusila,

"As far as I know Serbs reject any closer relations with Albanian pseudo-state and sent clear message that they don’t want to be led and ruled by K-Albanians thus makes me wonder what multi-cultural society they refer to?"

You are making the Albanian cause a great contribution! Thanks for that!

You are right that are the Serbs who are rejecting any close relations with Albanians.... For the fisrt time you have told us the TRUTH))

Time to send in the Serb military into the enclaves. I recall 1000 is allowed by 1244. After all, with this new magical albanian constitution, barbed wire and armed guards would no longer be needed and their continued presence is an insult to the peaceful freedom loving albanians.

Mr. Feith, I imagine you have approved the traslation of the Constitution to the Albanian language...

Seeing today verdict for Haradinaj, I can only imagine the Kosovo constitution and the Laws you have prepared for Kosovo...

Peter Sudyka #10.

Peter, do you think we don't know all that? What C is saying is a speculation that goes perfect with the closing statement of your comment, which is: "Serbia will be in the EU and NATO years before Kosovo, provided chauvinists like Kostunica does not stay."

The key word here is "provided" which implies that the grotesque serbian nationalism could still hold Serbia hostage for another decade or two. What makes you think that the likes of Kostunica and Nikolic will go away? Everyone wishes for that to happen but the true is that the world around Serbia, including Kosova as a sovereign state, is getting prepared for the opposite.

"As such it guarantees the respect of individual and community rights, including the rights of the Kosovo Serbs, under the rule of law. Hard work gone into its and its eventual quick adaptation into a functioning supreme framework for law deserves only our admiration."
(village-bey, 3 April 2008 14:21)

Actions speak louder than words, Village-Bey. Over the past nine years K-Albanians have grossly violated the rights of minorities. I find it hard to believe that, just because of this "constitution", the rights of K-Serbs will be respected.

"It would be interesting to have a situation where Kosovo gets to NATO and EU before Serbia does, and then see who does the lecturing."

For Kosovo to join the EU (aside from a unanimous approval from all members), it needs to have a decent economy first. Right now, it's economy is no better than African and some Asian states. It will take many, many years before Kosovo can even start thinking about membership. NATO might be sooner, but weapons cost a lot of money, which Kosovo simply does not have (and the weapons that Bush is sending free of charge is mostly obsolete equipment anyway, not to mention no tanks etc.).

Serbia will be in the EU and NATO years before Kosovo, provided chauvinists like Kostunica does not stay.

"Feith approves draft Kosovo constitution"

Quoting a piece I read… "Kosovo is not gaining independence or even minimal self-government. It will be run by an appointed High Representative and bodies appointed by the U.S., European Union and NATO. An old-style colonial viceroy and imperialist administrators will have control over foreign and domestic policy. U.S. imperialism has merely consolidated its direct control of a totally dependent colony in the heart of the Balkans.”

This is great news. By June 15, when the 120 days of transition period is over, Kosovo will have its constitution implemented. Haters can keep hating. All the best Kosovo!

The only unfortunate outcome of Kosova’s independence is the positioning of some on the Serbian diaspora against the same western values that raised and educated them.
Any kind of thinking and action that contravenes their supposed violated sovereignty is dismissed as wrong and nonsensical. This happens even when it is blatantly oblivious that their arguments are immoral and ideologically non compatible with today’s world. This positioning became apparent with the events in Tibet. While the entire civilised world was swift in their condemnation on the violent crackdown, our Serb friends were equally quick in advising the Chinese communist leadership how to deal with them dangerous terrorist monks. Not that Chinese needed any advice.
The iconic symbol of this reposition is a B92 photo of Serbia’s foreign minister standing behind a statute of Ho Chi Ming in Vietnamese capital Hanoi.
If this conservative take is to be a permanent fixture, our Serbian friends will find themselves constantly threatened anytime a positive change takes place anywhere in the world. Now that’s not an ideal place to be.
Kosovar draft constitution is a historical document compiled under best advice and references. As such it guarantees the respect of individual and community rights, including the rights of the Kosovo Serbs, under the rule of law. Hard work gone into its and its eventual quick adaptation into a functioning supreme framework for law deserves only our admiration.

Kosovo will finally get its own constitution, and there's nothing anyone, let alone Belgrade, do anything about it.

As things stand, and especially if the Radicals and their Kostunica satellites win the May elections, Serbia will have postponed its EU and NATO adherence by several years. It would be interesting to have a situation where Kosovo gets to NATO and EU before Serbia does, and then see who does the lecturing.

Kosovo could begin building a sustainable, multi-ethnic state.

-What multi-ethnic state they are talking about? As far as I know Serbs reject any closer relations with Albanian pseudo-state and sent clear message that they don’t want to be led and ruled by K-Albanians thus makes me wonder what multi-cultural society they refer to? Is Mr Faith trying to use force against the Serbs in order to integrate them in that so called Kosmet society. However, I guess paper can take everything, so can this written rubbish in modern provincial constitution.

"Special EU Envoy to Kosovo Pieter Feith yesterday approved a draft "Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo"...

...Now that the EU envoy has given the thumbs up to the draft Constitution, the Kosovo parliament can now consider it. "

Could also get approval from any lunatic from any insane asylum.

Would be just as binding.

"“Kosovo will have a modern Constitution that guarantees the respect of individual and community rights, including the rights of the Kosovo Serbs, under the rule of law "

Human rights can only be guaranteed if K-albanians respect said rules.

The past 8yrs have shown that this is not the case & K-serbs still need the protection of KFOR in the enclaves in the south.

Kosovo itself & K-albanians are at the centre of the people & drug trafficing trade in Europe. The 'self-styled' government in pristina is riddled with both people connected to this trade, & people who are actually involved in this trade.

This so-called constitution is worth about as much as the paper it is written on.

Oh what a tangled web we weave... and now Thaci must completly agree...while all the time Serbia continues to strengthen it's continued sovereinty!
