22 million euros is far more than someone could reasonably earn representing the people of a country for which the average salary is about 350 euros a month, Think about it. If I was a Kosovo Serb I would be asking myself why did I suffer all these years while those fat cats in Belgrade became even fatter.

The Media should be free and should not belong to any political block...

The journalists should write facts and not what they are told to write...

The President and PM of any government should not even try to interfear on any of this issues...

Sadly, non of this happens anywhere in the world...

Here is a paradox for you: Politika purports to be the media service of choice for the educated, for those with the capacity to think critically. Yet surely it is known by all those who fit this description that Smajlovic is a Kostunica crony and indeed that her appointment to the position of Editor came as a result of her DSS ties?

(Funnily enough, all those that I have met in Belgrade - and there are many - who fit this description don't actually pay any attention to any media source at all).

On the other hand, 22 million euros is far more than someone could reasonably earn representing the people of a country for which the average salary is about 350 euros a month, and this does deserve to be investigated - though surely not in a sensational manner which aims not so much to bring the truth to the public but rather to sway the public perception in the lead-up to an election.

Perhaps there is only one thing that we can say with certainty (and let me say that I don't like to say it but it is certainly worth considering ): Politika is sound metaphor for Serbia generally: it was once, after all, a publication with a fair degree of credibility.
