Just further proof that the Serbs are not the cause of the ethnic- Albanians problems. Albania has been independent since when 1917? It is still the poorest and most backward country on the continent.

RE: Predictor "...We are where we are, and this is thanks to 1989-1999 regime, and we can’t change the history, but we can and we will change our future."

One simple question:

If this is the case, what have you been doing since 1999?

Kosovo really is a charity case. The only thing it has to offer is coffee shops, car washes and taxi services to supplement its scrap metal exports income. It’s hard to understand how a country expects to be independent when it can’t even support its citizens and expects the world aid to bail it out. This won’t change in the next 50 years. Building infrastructure, rooting out corruption, and eventually exporting something other than wrecked cars will not happen in 4-5 years. Sorry predictor, but you really need to look at the reality on the ground in Kosovo.

It will take a couple of generations to rebuild Kosovo, especially with the welfare mentality that I have seen in Kosovo. Everyone expects a handout. If €2 billion have already been given to Kosovo and they have nothing to show for it, another €20 billion will not even make a dent.

And you can’t blame the Serbians for your problems anymore. It’s up to you and your politicians now.

10 years later KosovO Albanians are still blaming others for their failures. US/NATO, UN and EU had a point to prove after taking control over KosovO yet, with all the money in the world at their disposal, they did not manage to make a dent. I choose not to go into detailed explanation of what I think is the reason for poor economy, it would be redundant and offensive to our Albanian tenants.

Serbia far exceeds Economic Growth and GDP compared to Kosovo. If you are not convinced, to to the IMF site and see for yourself.

In fact, Kosovo Albanians will start migrating back to Albania as that country is in a much better financial situation although they face many hurdles themselves.

Further, dont' blame 1989-1999 even though that is far as your memory may go.

Try going back to 1941 and onwards for the deepening of the problems of Kosovo. Poor Albanian leadership and corruption from Tito's Communist party is largely to blame for the economic basket case called Kosovo.

Serbia's economic problems is largely the result of billions of dollars of damage due to the Yugoslav civil war in addition to NATO bombing which still has seen it not recover to 1989 levels.

Part of the demise of the former Yugoslavia was Slovenia and Croatia subisidizing Kosovo's backward economy.

maybe if Serbia hadn't depirved Kosovo of the government resources it controlled for lo long when it implemented it's apartheid on Albanians, then the economy woudl be stronger.

Croatia covers 21,800 square miles; population 4.5 million; GDP £25.93 billion

Serbia covers 34,000 square miles; population 10.2 million; GDP £20.86 billion

Bosnia and Herzegovina cover 19,700 square miles; population 4.5 million; GDP £7.22 billion

Macedonia covers 9,800 square miles; population 2.1 million; GDP £3.49 billion

Albania covers 11,000 square miles, population 3.6 million, GDP £5.7 billion

Montenegro covers 5,400 square miles; population 700,000, GDP £1.15 billion

The Swiss

The analysis added that "half of Kosovo's current export incomes comes from selling of car wrecks".

Die Presse adds that economic data on Kosovo is "sobering," particularly pointing out to the fact that the per capita GDP of EUR 1,100 "can only be compared to that of some African countries".

Come on guys, since yesterday we all know what is the biggest "white" kosovo export, but I doubt it is part of the official statistics!!

And thanks to this non official export the per capita GDP is certainly the highest in Europe but only for a few govnt officials.....really miserable people!

We are where we are, and this is thanks to 1989-1999 regime, and we can’t change the history, but we can and we will change our future. The independence is just the beginning of positive changes. I can only say that in just 4-5 years, you will not recognize Kosova. As for the current economic situation speaking, everyone here must admit that Serbia as well doesn’t stand better than Kosova, as Slobo 10 years regime destroyed everything. Hope this will not be repeated in Serbia, as consequences in Kosova are no longer possible, because we need stabile neighborhood.

I completely agree with this, Kosovo has a long long way to go. Many people can barely eat. But they still are better then being under Serbia, and kosovos main income comes from Immigrants. So it will take time for sure but it has no where to go put up.

So what?? this doesn’t mean that Ksoova shouldn’t be independent also other countries/nation with lower/higher GDP per capite.

It must be morally acceptable for some people that come from a rich country and point a finger at poor people teasing them hahha you are poor, you don't have any cent in your pocket- what’s their point what do they want to say??? honour to them...
