"How sad! The whole world has already seen your brutal policy towards Kosovar Albanians; systematic ethnic cleansing and now your desperate failed state publicly claims it will do everything to deny them their right to live in their own internationally recognized sovereign state.
Who are you to try and do this? It is time for serbian people you wake up and stop believing your what people like Jeremic says! They have failed you more than Milosevic did..."

thank you, trepca, you are spot-on. but i really do think their strategy will backfire. it is all short-term tactics, no long-range strategy. so sad, and i just can't see how it will get better in the near future...

this man is right:having a state of kosovo is a strategic error.Kosovo IS albania and isgoing to be part of albania very soon if your policy is to have a kosovo neither here nor there!
That's just what we want:convince them that it would better for them to join little albania. Thanks for helping us in this point!

Albanians didn't want to integrate with Serbs, why on earth would you think Serbs would want to integrate with Albanians?
North of the Ibar, defacto independent. Serbian enclaves, defacto independent. If you don't think so,stop deluding yourself and take a look. There is no KosovA authority there.

Very good strategy of consolidation of a common good.

I would like to put out another strategy. I would like to hear opinions if it makes sense and if it is doable.

Firstly, Serbia needs to nationalize the assets and companies of those countries who recognize Pristina's UID. Secondly, to privatize those nationalized assets and companies in a closed bidding process that includes ONLY those countries that have not recognized Pristina's UID. The funds raised by the auction will go into a trust and funds be returned to the countries once recognition of the UID has been rescinded.

Everything must be thought of in the most sophisticated means.

Attempting to limit Kosovo's status in a 'neither here nor there situation' is precisely why states have recognised its recent UDI.
If this is the limit of Belgrade's strategy, its is only limiting its own negotiating possibilities again.

All the previous posts showing up 1-5 are very well written. But at this point you all seem to think that the ball is in Serbia's court entirely.

Serbs want peace and prosperity together with their neighbors as well. However, when Albanians elect leaders like Thaci, Haradinaj, and Ceku with so much Serbian, roma, and evan Albanian blood on their hands, it sort of sends the wrong signal.

Also, since 1999 we all know what's been happening to the Serbian minority south of the Ibar. UDI or not, Albanians have shown very little willingness to improve that situation.

Please remember Serbs love the Albanians as much as Albanians love them.

Jeremic's statement is a very good one. I really like because it emphasis the defeat of Serbia in the international diplomacy. It's very productive for the Americans. Until, yesterday, Serbia was fighting in a different fashion.
Kosovar citizens of serb origin have a chance to integrate into kosovar society. Are serbs ready for this? Is serbia democratic enough to let its people live as they decide to?
Serbia will never be able to stop Kosovo from becoming NATO and EU member.
As I recall, Tadic was treated like a prince in Ankara, Turkey. And, Turkey turns out to be one of the first countries to recognize it. Serbia's diplomatic battle is lost.
The classic teachings of Cicero which it is widely applied to the democratic countries has unique explanation for Jeremic's statement. As you attempt to destructively isolate others, you end up self-destructively isolating yourself.

Smart move from Serbia. First was to keep Kosovo within Serbia by doing ethnic cleansing from Milosevic, lost that move, 2- To keep Kosova as it is now and hopefully would enver join any International organisations. If Kosovo would not be able to join any foreign organization, they will ask for a split of Kosova in order for Serbia to accept them. Once Kosova is split, Serbian government will want to trade Mitrovica with valley albania, serbian government and Albanian government will have the same goal to create ethnic states. Once Kosovo is split, say goodbuy to my little friend, Macedonia and Bosnia. The big winners is Albania and Bulgaria, then Serbia and Greece. Big losers , Macedonia and Bosnia. Cheers from Tirana

If this is DS policy, it is a totally wrong direction. Kosovo is an independent state now and Serbia should after the May elections even officially recognise it. Serbia does not have time to disperse energies on fallen ideological and territorial projects. Serbia now has the chance to rapidly start developing its economy and leave political issue of Kosovo to USA. Even Russia would be satisfied by Serbian recognisiton of Kosovo, since Russia and Serbia have to implement the necessary energies on the gas pipeline that will bring in monies in the future.
Serbia should rapidly increase exporting its goods to Kosovo, even on lower price, in order to stop other countries like Slovenia or Croatia do the same: otherwise in that case Kosovo would be lost for Serbia for ever.
