Partition is a fact, would love to see the Albanians try and impose anything on the Serb enclaves in the south, and forget about the North!

"Volker told the National Press Club in Washington that President George W. Bush's administration supports "transfer of jurisdiction" from the UN Kosovo mission, UNMIK, to a future EU mission, EULEX. "

Means nothing without UN SC approval. Bush is 'dead duck' anyway.

Bad Gorilla:
As opposed to the K-albanian nationalists who keep trying to grab as much land as they can, with no regard to the wishes of the present population such as is the case with Kosovo north of the Ibar.

"Whatever happened in World War II didn’t give the Serbs the right to commit all the atrocities (Vukovar, Srebrenica) that occurred in the Yugoslav War with the intent to brutally redraw the borders of Yugoslav republics to create the “Greater Serbia”.

As for bad behaviour, K-albanians certainly have a good track record haven't they? Lets see now.. Murder, kidnapping, people smuggling, drugs smuggling, arms trafficking in general.. & lets not forget the last 8yrs or so of repression, killings, & arson against ethnic minorities & serbs in particular. And of course, there's also the period of repression against minorities during the time K-albanians had autonomy.

"Even before the Serbian conquest of Kosovo territory in 1912 Kosovo were largely populated by Albanian peoples: "

And further back still, serbs were in the majority. And yet farther back still, serbs were in the overwhelming majority, even more so than is the reverse case of today.

Do you see a pattern here?

And regarding rest of your argument, saying that Kosovo had some sort of defacto status as a republic is meaningless. Kosovo was never in legal fact, a republic - End of story.

as an international 'outside' observer, I haven't looked at the wars in the Balkans as a fight for "Greater Serbia". Everything I have read and followed personally in my 15 years in the region points to the fact (that's right, the fact) that Serbian people fought to retain the territorial integrity of Yugoslavia, which was completely within their right, given the Helsinkin accord that says that a recognized country (and Yugoslavia was one) can not have its borders canged or violated by internal conflicts.

The United States of America was against the UDI of both Slovenia and Croatia, but my how times have changed. They not only supported the UDI in Kosovo, they directed it.

Hypocritis would be so proud of Uncle Sam.

Bad Gorilla,

These so called Republics waged a war on the Serbs and therefore lost their territories and should have been punished. But instead they were rewarded at the expense of Serbs.
Why have the Kosovo Albanians led a more fruitfull life than there Albanian counterparts in Albania. Kosovo Albaninas prospered because they benefited from Serbian society. Why is it that all former Republics are entitled to territory and self rule, whereas the Serbians are only entitled in paying the bills. All former republics came out smelling like roses and the Serbs got stuck with their garbage. Do you think that my Serb ancestors fought all the former wars so that Albanians could have freedom in Kosovo today.
Get Real!
This Kosovo UDI has only just initiated the wonderfull relationship yet to come between Albanians and Serbs.

“There are ni ‘mini-me Serbias’ all the former territories are Serbian because they won the battle of World War II.”

That’s the old nationalist rhetoric that were spread by the state-controlled media during the 1988-2000 Slobodan Milosevic era in Yugoslavia.

Whatever happened in World War II didn’t give the Serbs the right to commit all the atrocities (Vukovar, Srebrenica) that occurred in the Yugoslav War with the intent to brutally redraw the borders of Yugoslav republics to create the “Greater Serbia”.

“Read some history books and you will see that Kosovo is Serbian and that Albania is Albanian. I have never heard of Serbs causing problems and destroying Albania's infrastructure. If north, south, east and west Albanians do not like the Slavs, then they should leave Slavic territory and return to Albania”

The old Milosevic rhetoric again… listen, Albanian-speaking peoples lived in Kosovo for centuries, maybe even before the arrival of the Slavs from the region which is today the Slovakia-Poland-Ukraine corner that happened in the Middle Ages.

Even before the Serbian conquest of Kosovo territory in 1912 Kosovo were largely populated by Albanian peoples:

“Bad Gorilla, wouldn't kosovo Albanians trying to break away from Serbia (taking Kosovo) be more analogous to Serbians in Croatia and Bosnia trying to break away from Croatia and Bosnia? After all Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia were states within the former Yugoslavia with sizeable minorities”

The concepts may seem the same, but in fact they were different: there haven’t been the “independence of the Croats” in 1991, but an independence of the long-established Republic of Croatia. The same goes for Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia… and Kosovo too, because though it hasn’t been a Yugoslav Republic de jure, it was de facto for a long time after World War II, when it had Albanian-language newspapers, a separate Kosovar League of Communists, autonomous parliament and even constituted part of the late rotating presidency of the Yugoslavia and has an equal vote with other republics in the federation.

How could the illegal UDI of Kosovo bring about the legal partition of Northern Kosovo. There are ni "mini-me Serbias"
all the former territories are Serbian because they won the battle of World War II.
The Serbs have always had a greater population than Croations, Bosnians, Montenegrins and Macedonia. I am sure that even today the population of Serbs are greated than the combined populations of above mentioned ethnicities.

Read some history books and you will see that Kosovo is Serbian and that Albania is Albanian. I have never heard of Serbs causing problems and destroying Albania's infrastructure. Washington is right. The legal partition of Kosovo would bring the same problems created by the “mini-me Serbias” inside Croatia and Bosnia.

From north to south, from east to west, to Serbians and to Albanians, all of Kosovo must be independent and must be one.

Volker, Munter, Serwer and Loser are all from Germany. All of the above time wasters do not want partition because partition confirms their ethnic cleansing campaign. On the contrary, Kosovos's partition would deminish the potential for violence. The ultimate partition of Kosovo would spell defeat to the USA. The Americans do not wish for Serbia's friendship, these recent statements are to glorify themselves in the public eye. How can two states that have been at war with each other for the last 15 years, suddenly become friends.

The only thing, missing these days when US officials speak about KosovO is stumping feet and we'd have a complete temper tantrum...maybe if they held their breath long enough and refused to eat and go to bed things would eventually go their way. I sure hope they have enough diapers in State Department...it's time to change them, the stench coming from there is becoming a nuisance. What a black eye for US's already shaken foreign policy KosovO is becoming. Number of countries who fell in line with Washington is miniscule which shows how little respect world has for American initiatives these days. It's a shame that we Serbs have to pay the price for their childish ideas but hey, been there, done that, we'll come out of this stronger as we always do.

Crocodile tears from a CIA agent.Suddenly the US is concerned about instability and violence in the balkans. One has to look at the statements coming from US officials and realise thet there is no coherence and no clarity. On one hand they instigate the illegal UDI of kosovo and on the other hand they offer a hand of friendship to Serbia.
Iam afraid its a bit too late for kiss and make up with Serbia.Relations between
the two countries won't be the same again ever. You cannot partition a state and then ask for its friendship.
If the Serbs consented on to your friendship this will amount to an act of masochism.
