He is either paid too much (thus the comparison with the state pension), or he’s paid to little (needs top-ups with the odd packet of smokes), but you can’t really have it both ways imho.

"His salary is much less than I would have expected for someone in his position."

Don't worry Nicholas, he more than makes up for it in construction company backhanders.

Any mention of crates of Marlboro smuggled per month on the posters also?

This is just political propaganda planned by his opposition in RS or competitors in the federation. This might score some points with some, but do we really think someone on his level and responsibility should have the same salary as the average worker.

I assume those salary figures quoted are per month.

Readers may be interested to know that the Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of the Republic of Ireland earns EUR 22,667 per month. This is more than George Bush receives. A recent attempt to increase this to EUR 25,833 had to be deferred due to public outrage.

This is the same man (Bertie Ahern) who is now in deep trouble over multiple mysterious lodgements, totalling hundreds of thousands of euro, into various bank accounts controlled by him. It is also the same man whose government were in like a shot to recognise the "independence" of Kosovo.

So, if Milorad Dodik wants to ply his trade in Ireland (even at a small multiple of his current salary) he is more than welcome.
