Maks,

I am sorry that my explanation regarding Romania's position on Kosovo UDI was not explicit enough (see post nr. 7, above)

Therefore, I will quote myself (apologies for this):

"As for our [Romanians] participation in KFOR, this is in line with UN 1244, and has nothing to do with any recognition of independent Kosovo."

Last but not least, there is no "hate dream" in Romania regarding Kosovo Albanians or Albanians generally (only if you equalize indifference with hate...) We Romanians have plenty of things to do, right now, than thinking about Kosovo - no offense :) For example, we are quite busy to lobby for Albania and Macedonia to be invited to join NATO, at the Bucharest NATO Summit next month...

But of course, if wishful thinking is your hobby, please feel free, and understand whatever you want from the sayings of Romanian officials...

"Referring to Kosovo, Cioroianu said Romania supports the alliance's continued role in maintaining peace and stability in the newly-independent territory."
This is a "smooth move" toward recognition. It will happen any time soon but it is very different from "hard approuch" taken by Romania last month. It seems that many people in Bucuresht are waken up from the hate dream.

Babis, Burim,

As a Romanian close to political debate in Bucharest, let me clarify it for you (and maybe others):

Romania will NOT recognise Kosovo anytime soon. To be more clear, we wait for Serbia to do this, and then we will follow...

There will be no recognition of UDI, even after the Parliamentarian elections in November, when same political parties will enter the new parliament... Practically, all political parties in Romania, except the Democratic Union of Hungarians (nice try, they couldn't go against their rationale for existence, which is understandable) are agreeing on this issue, as they voted against recognition, in a formal reunion of Parliament one or two days after UDI.
(As a side note, is seems this issue is the only one which gathers such unanimity in Romania, these days :)

Second, the Romanian public opinion is a) against recognition or b)simply not interested about Kosovo.

Kosovo status has no place on Romanians public agenda, in other words, we couldn't care less.

I have no idea if there is any pressure from US on Bucharest on this issue (probably not), but having in mind the fact that more and more Romanians are worried about why our soldiers are still in Iraq and Afghanistan (in Afghanistan, one Romanian died two days ago), I guess Washington will have plenty of lobby to do to keep us there, therefore it will leave Kosovo aside...

So, this time, Albanians have to make it without Romania. As for our participation in KFOR, this is in line with UN 1244, and has nothing to do with any recognition of independent Kosovo.

Good luck,
George

Congrats to these countries.
NATO is first of all political alliance and a manadtory front door to EU.

P.S. Rumours that Albania will be one of the major contributors in KFOR after joining NATO

Referring to Kosovo, Cioroianu said Romania supports the alliance's continued role in maintaining peace and stability in the newly-independent territory.
There you have it. An unofficial recognition of Kosova by our romanian brothers.
Now let's hope I won't be censored by B92.
