Albanian incompetence kills more than the Serbian riots against the oppressive UN/KFOR.

Albania can't even supply steady electricity for itself. In addition Albanian partyers overloaded a boat last month and 20 drowned. Yet you didn't see them rioting after that. If there were any Serbs around they would have found a convenient excuse to do some ethnic cleansing as they did in the March 2004 riots.

That's too bad, maybe if they hired real professionals, this wouldn't have happened. This is what happens when you hire nato to help you.

Who would have thought, that after all this time we would find Mladic posting on B92!

That was a nice gesture from you.

With regard to the politicians I don't think they need an excuse on this one. The country has wanted to be a NATO member for a while now (part of the reason why we have troops in Iraq and Afghanistan). If anything, this accident could be detrimental to the chances of Albania joining NATO as soon as it would like.

The army has modernized btw (I can remember what shape it was in the 90's and it has definitely improved since).

As much as I don't like saying this, I got a suspicion that this is the Albanians' own doing, not the NATO specialists'.
I can't speak for the rest of the region, but as far as my countrymen are concerned, well, we aren't exactly renowned for obeying/following rules. From initial reports it seems that this was a case of negligence.

Hopefully, this tragedy will focus the minds of the people responsible for dismantling the rest of the amunition.... they're not firecrackers and there's still thousands of tons more to get rid of.

I wonder how much better Albania would have fared over the years had Enver Hoxha not pissed away the country's wealth on bullets, artillery shells, and bunkers.

I agree.. Whenever inocent people have suffered, we should never play for political views. People disagree on political views in many ways but when inocent lifes have been lost, we should give our sinsir solidarity.

Horrible accident, my condolances to their relatives.

I can't wait to se the albanian politicians to use this as an excuse to join Nato, wich will "modernize" albanias weapons supplies...
