bmruslia,

You accuse Tadic of "dirty tactics" and "intimidation". Where is your proof? As far as I know, the only party being accused of using "dirty tactics" and "intimidation" is the SRS. They have a long history of pressuring Serbs to vote for them or be accused of not being Serbs who care about Serbia. That, IMO, is the crux of "intimidation".

pre 16 godina

Well we are agreed that SRS won't bring us greater prosperity - thats the polite way of saying it. If you are realistic like me then you know that it is likely that we will become poorer under SRS. That means people in Kosovo as well as people in the rest of Serbia.

I don't have anything tribal against SRS but this 'its time to give them a chance' thing is too much. You don't just 'give somebody a chance' to govern. Government is life, its not just giving somebody a lick on your ice cream or a sip of your coffee. In my personal opinion the radicals are not ready yet. They need one more loss in elections to move forward. The sign to prove this was the case of Maja Gojkovic and her conflict with Seselj. They need to develop serious policies on the economy.

With Kosovo we are working at maximum capacity. There is nothing more that Tadic can do at this stage, apart from make gestures, which I must say I am not interested in. Results are much more important.

In government terms I agree with you that Tadic is / was too weak and compromises too much. Above all he compromised too much with Kostunica, Kostunica should never had been Prime Minister this time with so little support from the general public. Nikolic agreed with this view.

Still, in the right situation a compromiser can be a good thing - particularly if most other people are hardliners.

Bganon,

I also never mentioned that SRS will bring any better prosperity but I don’t think that we will be isolated with them either. You must agree that they never had chance to show what they know. In all fairness they should be given a chance. I don’t think that SRS will run that kind of policy, policy of isolation. However, it is evident that they will win an take the power. Anyway, I lost any hope that any of them can bring prosperity. As for mafia when you already mentioned, well I really don’t see real prosperity of ruling coalition when it comes to dealing with mafia. All the governments so far failed in that matter, as they failed in dealing with corruption.

I also do not suggest that Belgrade must look at and talk about Kosovo 24/7, but in these kinds of events all the energy must be re-directed there. I think that it is not proper time to calculate and speak about elections, especially not about election outcome while Serbs in Kosovo suffer. Their lives are much more important than any elections. Their lives are my priority since all of us living in Serbia are more, less safe.

And once again, I do not hate and I do not blame anyone for the situation. I firmly believe that who ever was running the country now, or in the past, the situation would have been completely the same. What I do disapprove in Tadic’s attitude is his lately behaviour as it was during presidential campaign (using a filthy tricks and intimidation as tool), furthermore, he is never present when he is supposed to stand by his people and show unity over injustice (the protest in Belgrade when he exiled in Bucharest for a while) and continuation of misleading people by claiming that Serbia will be isolated if his party does not win, etc.

I am just disappointed electorate and I expected more from him. He is simply to week to have any responsible function as he easily succumbs to pressure (whether the pressure comes from outside or inside). I also believe that he is ready to accept every kind of rubbish offered by the EU and minimise Serbia’s interests.

bmrusila you criticised Tadic for talking about election issues whilst this sad situation in Kosovo is going on, not me.

What do you suggest, that we ONLY talk about Kosovo and forget everything else? Sorry, but I won't do it, Kosovo is important but there are many other important issues that must be raised and many other issues that must be considered when deciding who to vote for.

Stop being obsessed with Kosovo and the EU. I'm not a big supporter of the EU at all. I'm a supporter of the party with the best policies overall and I don't vote only on one or two issues.

As for compassion, come on, wake up! Because a politician (ie a liar) says something compassionate that makes him a good guy? Be serious, don't tell me you actually believe politicians when they talk about Kosovo? Not only Serbian politicians from one side to the other, but all of them internationals and Kosovo Albanians will say whatever they want to appeal to certain sections of the population regardless of if its the truth or not.

Thats fine if you believe that a SRS government will bring you greater prosperity, heal wounds in Serbian society, crack down on the mafia (not by releasing Legija I hope) etc etc. I hope you are right.

I also hope that you don't hate anybody, particularly somebody who is not to blame for the situation we face today. However, this hysteria against Tadic is reaching fever pitch. Its both absurd and ridiculous and in no way helps anybody.

And of course in reality we all know his position on Kosovo is no different from anybody elses. Whats the point?

Bganon,

Did I anywhere in my post suggest suspension of democracy and imposing dictatorship? Please quote my words that suggest something like that. Or do you suggest that Tadic and his party are the only democratic option for Serbia? Do you actually trying to say that if radicals win there will be some sort of dictatorship? However, I do suggest and I do not support any negotiations on EU integrations. By this I do not think discontinuing bilateral relations wit the EU, just wish Serbia never join that Union.

Bganon, I do not hate anyone. If I don not agree with someone I certainly do not hate. Wonder why people tend to twist disagreement into hatred. I also never suggested that it is Tadic’s fault for Kosovo occupation, it is no ones fault. That would have happened anyhow, who ever was ruling over Serbia at that time. All I suggested in my post is that the situation in Serbia is very delicate at the moment and that our president should be more focused on the crisis in Kosovo and to take some proper measures. Instead, our president is obsessed how and when he will provide victory. I don’t know are you aware that he won’t win anything with this kind of attitude. He showed no compassion for the events in Kosovo. Not a one member of his party went in Kosovo to stand by our people over there. They are all ostriches with their heads in sand. I do not trust DS any longer and that part will never have my vote ever again. As a citizen of Serbia, as individual, I have priorities. None of my prioritise fit in DS and Tadics programme.

And for the end, I do not know what so much do you expect from the EU? How low can you knee before the EU and still feel OK with that? And how it is possible that you cannot see or feel the EU’s carrots with long sticks?

'You were not supposed to think about the elections these days while your people in Kosovo bleed.'

What do you suggest then bmrusila? Suspending democracy (as well as EU integration) and imposing an autocratic dictatorship until we get Kosovo back?

Not that I would like to rob you of your hate figure, but the situation in Kosovo is not Tadic's fault is it? Or have you rewritten history in your own mind now and it is Tadic's fault that Kosovo is under occupation?

I expect people who live outside Serbia, not to be able to the nuances of the situation but you should know better.

Mr. Tadic, your attitude is not surprising. You couldn`t care less about the Serbs being forced to submit under Albanian domination. Your priority is to appease your american boss at any cost. Not only will you lose the elections, but you won't even come close.

Great he is finally speaking up.The media too eagarly broadcast the hate rhetoric of the nationalists. Little do they realise they are pawns in the game the big powers are playing. Russia would happily swap Kosovo for a missile defence system or some political concession in the middle east. The whole point of the EU is for many small states to link up and stand up to big powers.
