This is common practice for countries who have become recent U.S Puppet states. They demand that you destroy you military capability then they cause conflict in the region and fulfill the demand for new "American Weapons" by selling them at inflated prices. I hope the Albanians have negotiate a good loan term.

Authorities say most of the ammunition was Russian and Chinese artillery shells made in the 1960s.

…"This was bound to happen," a Western military official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter. "There are depots in much worse condition around the country."

More than 100 other depots storing excess ammunition dot Albania, many of them in heavily populated areas.

The official, who was involved in reforming Albania's military to conform to NATO requirements, said basic procedures for destroying the ammunition were often not followed in Albania's effort to destroy excess ammunition.

Brass shell cases — that are sold for scrap metal — were randomly emptied in the same depot where the ammunition was stored, a procedure that cuts down demolition costs, but increases the danger of incidents, the official said.

It was nice to see the solidarity and help comming immediately from Italy, Switzerland, USA, France and Germany. Those are true friends when there is a catastrophe.
Cerveny Vuk how sincere are you with your regrets?
(Joe, 16 March 2008 14:32)

- I am very sincere my friend, and the fact that I am against the illegal UDI, doesn't mean I don't like Albanians. As I have already said, I have many Albanian friends, and hold no quarrel with them (strangely, they have no idea what is happening in Kosovo)

This was an accident, and the reasons of it, are back at 1945 and up to today. There is nothing intentional done here, or nothing in purpose. No conspiracy, and about our friends, they are also your friends remember, because they dont let us kill each other. But you dont see it this way.
(Doni, 16 March 2008 15:37)

-I am guessing this one is aimed at me. My dear Doni, the US are not our friends, and they will not be your friends much longer. The Albanians and Serbs were brothers in the Communist era, remember that Greece wanted to halve Albania with us, but we said no. It's the US that brought down communism, and got all the Balkan nations into petty quarrels, just so there wouldn't bee any stability in Europe, and so that they could impose their own will.

Joe,

Your comments on compassion are worse than your amateur analysis of the American economy.

Crveni Vuk has expressed his "regrets to the families of the dead and wounded." It's an attempt by an individual to show humanity and humility in the wake of this tragedy.

Do you actually believe BUSH lost any sleep over this incident, or even shed a tear for the losses in Tiranna.

The saying goes, it takes a man to express sorrow, regret, and humility, and a greater man to accept it. It's crystal clear your measurments are sub par!

A BBC report I read yesterday said that Albania had a "colossal, crazy" amount of munitions from the Communist era, some as far back as 1945. Old munitions are indeed very dangerous. One would think that the experts would have been more careful.
Sadly, innocent people have paid the price again.

A U.S.-based company involved in the de-commissioning project said none of its U.S. contractors were at the site at the time of the explosions.

- Typical, the Americans always like to start things off, but when people die, they are never there. Just like in Iraq, they started it, and now there are over 600.000 dead Iraqies. Makes you wonder if they're really your friends.

My deepest regrets to the families of the dead and the wounded. Let us hope that no more people need die.
