Gee people, why can't you all just get along? People are dying and all you hear is simple people turning a tragedy into a political matter. Do those people with negative comment think about as it would or could have happened to them? Start from their own families. How would you feel if you would see your children suffering such tragedy. Come on people. we are in the 21st century and all is talked is hate. Think this way: before you talk bad, start from yourself, think of how would you feel if someone was to say that about your children. Wrong time and wrong place to show this hature.

My condolleces go out to the Albanian Families who are suffering this tragedy. May God be with you!

P.S.
The whole world is watching

I hope the injured will recover soon, and my sympathy and condolences go to those who lost a family member or friend.

@all commentators
you are making an issue albanian vs. serbian out of everything.
people died there and also no condolences or sympathy is going to make things better.
Who is responsible for this stupid accident? Those people responsabile have to pay for their mistakes. Why things have to go this way in order for people to realize that in Albania is this ammunition problem?
Why is the focus in the international community on how EU is going to save all the Balkan area but they have no clue on what the real problems of the area are?
My deepest feelings of sympathy for the families of the dead ones too, but in this kind of situation I would like to see some immediate and responsable action.

To all Serb posters here rejoicing at the deaths of Albanians and US personnel in army depot explosions:

There are times when human compassion needs to take over to remind us of our humanity. This is such a time!!!! Your comments put you firmly outside that bracket.

My hopes are with the Albanian people. I am glad that in a country which refuses to give blood today Kosova begun shipping over 300 blood donations in less than a few hours.

To the person who spoke of the 3 African's that love Serbia.

Good for them, but you can't compare 3 with millions. Three people can't wash Srebrenica, Jashari family, Drenica, Raçak massacre, etc.

This is a time of silence and prayer, God bless all.

We can only speculate about what caused this explosion, but nobody -- and this includes American soldiers -- deserves to die because of this blast. I hope the injured will recover soon, and my sympathy and condolences to those who lost a family member or friend.

I cant believe this comments.I am albanian but the whole think is showing the kind of minde wi have in balkans the tragedy starts 40 years ago when a tipical balkan man(like milosevic)gethert one milliard tons of shells and amonitions to fight with somebody...to arm 3 milion people now we are siting with 100 000 "tons" of amunitions to much and that costs 100 milionseuro to destroy money we dont have...the comments hear simply show how a balkanic person thinks no mater albanian or serbian or macedonian...if you as a man from balkan what do you want a gun or a tool to work he will say a gun that is a big problem...people stop blaming nobody the problem is self produced...the same problem exist in serbia they destroying half of it amo to...in the end best regards to B92 they are very realistic and independent a great sorce of info...

They were moving munition to Macedonia to start a war but their American friends made bad moves and provoked a big bam. American adminsitration wants a war because it lost Serbia: the independence to Kosovo may be "noble" strategy but it aks for more dollars to spend, while Russia is building the pipelines, which is choking USA.

There are comments that the blast was even heard/felt in prishtina.

I am not arguing about the claim that serbs have been in killed in kosovo, I am, however, going to disagree with the number "over 800". The majority of those killed were killed immediately after the war. One thing I am always sure of Balkan, is that every group--particularly the serbs-- overthere LIES about their history, espcially when it comes to numbers.

Im just watching live Prime Minister Berisha. He said that there is 100 thousands tons on ammunition. Enver Hoxha idiot what you did to your own country. Why do we need all this ? Are we going to a war with Russia? this is sick Mr Hoxha ,,We have a lot more munically that we need. for 50 years in communism 50 % of government expences was going towards ummunition. Sick, We have 100 tons of Ammunitions. How the heck we are going to get rid of it? Some of it is all over the country, This can happen again and again in the near future. FYI:
Albania is the first country to destroy its entire arsenal of chemical weapons.
United Nations agency reported in 2007 that more than 20,000 kilogram’s of mustard gas and other chemical agents banned under an international treaty were disposed of by the Albanians.
This Army Depot under UN and US supervision does same thing destroying the large arsenal of munitions in Albania made by USSR, China or produced from Albania’s army factories over the 45 years of communism.

Well first off all I ment it was logic assuming that and I was 50% right. But that wasn't my point? It was how can you start making fun of that the electricity was down as that would be logic even in Serbia its a tradegy?
Well why should KLA operate in Albania? And I didn't say either it was a Serb or others? This was a normal demolising of weaponery? And the blast happend and the Children and ealderly that died were civilians living in the village near the blast inside the depo there were men and women you know equalty?
No I'm not there but world media is reporting it?

13*
I was talking about us Balkanian people whom didn't want to live toghether with you? Instead of sending condolences you try making fun with this by asuming the KLA were raiding it trying to steal weapons? And maybe you doent diffrence by skin color but you guys were saying why do we need another MUSLIM country inside EU isn't that rasism?
Then my friend if we look at Historical reasons why does Danes and Swedish people don't hate each other or French and German? just few exaples?

The only thing that i'm asking for is a bit of respekt for the victims and there familys?
So dear Belowed neighbours in Balkan this is not a thing we should make into something bigger for itself what happend is a tradegy?

smile

pre 16 godina

may the dead be as few as possible and may those who have perished rest in peace. i agree with all those who say, let's not bring politics into this because it's simply in bad taste.
but some people here should understand that hypocrisy also is in bad taste. practice what you preach and people will respect you. especially those albanians who have never expressed any regret because of the fate of serbs in kosovo. just in a few days time march 17 anniversary is coming. i wonder what the comments from albanians will be. can you guess? over 800 serbs were killed in kosovo since the end of the war in 99. every time a serb is beaten, harassed, raped in kosovo albanians come up with fantastic conspiracies where serbian mup seems to live in their heads all the time, and not a word, or very few words indeed, of genuine: i feel for the victims, i feel for the serb kids who live in fear behind barbed wire in kosovo for years and years.
this is where you should look for explanations for some of the reactions here, nowhere else. no one is indifferent to the suffering of so many people in such a horrible way as what happened in albania today, believe me.

"but I don't see other groups spin a human tragedy into a sick political ploy."

Then you obviously haven't been in Albanian, Croatian or Bosniak forums. Many of them are glad for every Serb who dies. I remember Albanians gloating over Serb children who were killed by a lightning strike on a soccer field and they made some political reference to the Serbs deserving it.

Do you even read Albanian, Croat or non-Serb forums? How could you say they don't spin tragedies for Serbs into politics. Plus there were the Croat weather forecasters during the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia smirking on the clear weather days because they'd be good for NATO bombers.

Ivan

Here is a video that explains some of the question about why children and others are dying. It also shows the real scale of this. Windows were shattered 6 miles away in the capital, so the force of the explosions must have been tremendous.

It is officialy that about 203 people are injured from the blast, at least four of those injured were in serious condition. Most of the injured were suffering from burns and psychological shock, 4 people dead and there are some missing ones. There are 4 buildings near the place and some workers may be in there, safe! There are about 50-60 people, children, old men and women in a tunnel about 50 meters far from the place, another group around 13 people are in the mountains and all others are evacuated right now. There may be more victims in the next hours because, yet, the emergency units and force units can not go into the depot.

People don't be mix this with KLA or anything else. The army depot is used as a site for ammunition destruction.

this is not a holly than thou attitude. On the contrary, it is an attitude of compassion and understanding. If I read about serb civilians being killed and persecuted, I will say the same thing, just as I would about Tibet, Darfur, and Iraq. But, spinning a tragedy like that into a political propaganda, and thus completely undermining the lives of those lost in that explosion, is disheartening and sickening beyond any human standard. 2)Michael, I doubt it was the KLA, they won't go up against Macedonia using millitary means, because that didn't work for them in Serbia. What they will try to do is stir up trouble (like they are already doing) and then get their good friends to help them.

3)To all non-Serb posters, you are right on this one. These were innocent people that should not have died because some lackies don't know how to destroy ammunition. Couldn't they do it in some isolated area?

4)And B92 and the rest of Serbia. Is this the common oppinion of you about other people. Now you understand why nobody wants to live with you?
(Enis from DK, 15 March 2008 18:03)

How do you explain the fact that 5 Ethiopians decided to run away from their country, and come to Serbia and compete in the Olympics with us, they could have picked anybody, they could have picked neigbouring Greece, which has better living standards than us, but no, they decided Serbia. They are even showing the three fingers, saying that the way they have been accepted by the Serbs, makes them feel like they belong. It is true that the Serbs hate some nations for historical reasons, but we don't hate someone for their colour, we actually like them for it, not like your democratic friends America, England, France and Germany.

There are some good serbs there but there are some Serbs there or Greeks that dont want Albania in Nato and now was the right time to damage albania. KLA are Albanians and they will never hurt their brothers, but there are some Serbs there that may have done this and now want brothers from albania and Kosova to kill each other. That will never happen. We will stand as a nation. There are 200 innocent victims there and there is a conspiracy that will came up one day. I blaim albanian neighboors on this.

I doubt it...for if they were in tunnels underground, how the hell did children get into or near this "controlled" explosion?

My theory is that KLA terrorists were raiding another Albanian Army depot. Arming themselves for the next amupuation of Macedonia makes sense to me. IDA,

I doubt it...for if they were in tunnels underground, how the hell did children get into or near this "controlled" explosion?

My theory is that KLA terrorists were raiding another Albanian Army depot. Arming themselves for the next amupuation of Macedonia makes sense to me. Many remember pictures of Albanians raiding their own supplies running wildly with armful of AK 47's laughing in delight prior to 1999. We all know where those weapons ended up. Macedonia beware!

Michael,

this is not a holly than thou attitude. It appears as though you are angry, and that anger is being mis-directed. Every ethnic group in the former yugoslavia has a right to be angry, but I don't see other groups spin a human tragedy into a sick political ploy.

Some people here can see only the way to their nose!

Italy, USA, Turkey, Macedonia and other countries are ready to help the country, and of course Kosova. The first KFOR helicopter from Pristina is right now on the way to Tirana.

I can’t believe that poster who named him/her self Uli actually had a nerve to pass the blame on Serbs for such tragic event. Michael made a point because each time when something happens to Serbs you Albanians point finger at Serbs claiming that Serbs did it themselves, it is never Albanians.

What if Michael was right, what if the weapons were handled by KLA for real?

Anyway, let’s not turn this tragic event into usual dispute between Serbs and Albanians. The kids might died today over there and wonder what the kids were doing nearby? My deepest condolences to the families.

1)Vuk, nice comment.

How do you explain the fact that 5 Ethiopians decided to run away from their country, and come to Serbia and compete in the Olympics with us, they could have picked anybody, they could have picked neigbouring Greece, which has better living standards than us, but no, they decided Serbia. They are even showing the three fingers, saying that the way they have been accepted by the Serbs, makes them feel like they belong. It is true that the Serbs hate some nations for historical reasons, but we don't hate someone for their colour, we actually like them for it, not like your democratic friends America, England, France and Germany.

may the dead be as few as possible and may those who have perished rest in peace. i agree with all those who say, let's not bring politics into this because it's simply in bad taste.
but some people here should understand that hypocrisy also is in bad taste. practice what you preach and people will respect you. especially those albanians who have never expressed any regret because of the fate of serbs in kosovo. just in a few days time march 17 anniversary is coming. i wonder what the comments from albanians will be. can you guess? over 800 serbs were killed in kosovo since the end of the war in 99. every time a serb is beaten, harassed, raped in kosovo albanians come up with fantastic conspiracies where serbian mup seems to live in their heads all the time, and not a word, or very few words indeed, of genuine: i feel for the victims, i feel for the serb kids who live in fear behind barbed wire in kosovo for years and years.
this is where you should look for explanations for some of the reactions here, nowhere else. no one is indifferent to the suffering of so many people in such a horrible way as what happened in albania today, believe me.

people died there and also no condolences or sympathy is going to make things better.
