NATO: Serbia’s future in Euro-Atlantic integration

Sounds like if Serbia does not voluntarily join NATO they may take it at will. Serbia's future will be brightest as an independent country with business ties to friendly and emerging countires, the EU, out of NATO, and closer military ties with Russia.

“We have to explain to Belgrade and the people of Serbia that there is no sustainable future in sinking back into angry nationalism,” Scheffer said, according to the Reuters news agency.

-Or what, are you maybe going to bomb us again??? I am laughing out loud after these threats. I am looking forward the elections in Serbia and hopefully the election results will show these arrogant Europeans and Americans how much Serbia wants Euro-Atlantic integration. I certainly hope that Serbs will never accept NATO membership.

Serbia has resources like-strong healthy smart young population, they can use in wars if Serbia is stupid enough to join them.And let`s not forget their need for Serbian doctors.
Why we need to join someone who is stealing our land and has audacity to ask us to join them or else.

I think this has been slightly misquoted, in fact it must have been something like “We want to deepen our cooperation and continue dialogue in our terms” Scheffer said of Russia...

It is good for Serbia to know that joining NATO only brings extra expenses to finance adventures and to send troops in places like Afghanistan and Irak. Think twice: what do they offer in exchange, security?

The economists say that in the long term everybody will be dead.

I am shocked by the hubris of Nato campaigning for the DS.

How can he Imagine that he thinks that Nato has credibility with the Serbian voter? How can he think that this will bennefit the DS? Wont Serbia see who Tadic's friends are?

I'm glad I read this because this shows that the West is not listening to Serbia at all. How many times has the government said "We will NOT join NATO" how many I ask you? At least a dozen in the last 6 months. NATO better get it through its thick fat head, Serbia will never join your aggressive bully gang. You can die and waste all the money you like in Afghanistan and other regions, Serbia has no business there.

My comment would be hands off Serbia and the Most Important thing would be if we aren't good enough to be admitted into the EU as country with Kosovo in it we don't need to have NATO use our young as cannon forder for their WARS.....we Died for freedom in the last two wars, WW1 and WW2. We also know how to live, but alas their not interested in that, so what do we need NATO. Serbia would be better served if they employed a Russian sheiled on there own territory.That is the only language the West understands and it should be considered.
