The truly sad reality is we are once again at War with one another, even if it has not reached the level of killing yet.

As such, medical supplies must be let through in order to treat the civilian population.

I have no issue if the other side wishes to impose sanctions, but denying basic human rights is truly a war crime.

Its going to be like this for a very long time, perhaps another 500 years.

I am truly sorry for both my Serbian brothers and my Albanian cousins. I supported peaceful partition based on mutually agreed upon discussions. It was obvious any solution other than a negotiated one would end up like this.

Its going to be partition no matter what. Why not discuss a trade of Presevo et all in exchange for some comprises on our historic sites that represent the very foundation and cradle of our civilization and identity.

This doctor got a cheek..
The Serb in Mitrovica today used 6 ambulances to destroy the local Court and throw stone and bottles to the police.
Subsequently there are 6 ambulances less for the Serb enclaves since they all got damaged and burn. There is also a Court building shattered who was there to assist the local population.
I wonder what the doctor has to say in relation to it.
Please note that on the subject of the medicine to the hospital there is no concern. The police are trying to bring to an end to the medicine from the black market. The amount of tax that needs paying is ridicules. It’s all paper work which the doctors are refusing to sign. They to a certain extent possibly will live the people without them than speak to “Spitaris”.

The 5 Euro excuse is just that - an excuse. The mafia will sell those medications on the black market and UNMIK will get a kickback. That's the UNMIK way.

Thaci and Co. supports depriving minorities of medicine, jobs, security and education.

Perphaps Doctors without Borders can help....Oh yeah, Kouchner doesn't support minority health. He puts them on lead waste piles.

"They [Albanians] are seeking recognition of the fake state of Kosovo, but us employed here at the KBC will never recognize a self-proclaimed state. Denying someone the right to medical treatment is the worst violation of human rights," he added."

i really ask that people look at this story CAREfully and analyze it beyond the superficial. on the surface, it seems outrageous that vital meds are being denied to people in need -- in fact it IS outrageous! but who is doing the denying -- the kosovar/unmik authorities, or the "enclave" leadership? -- in fact, the enclave DOCTOR, who claims to be so very concerned with his patients. what is the doctor's point? "we will never recognize this fake state, bla bla bla" therefore, no agreement to go thru channels -- like in any and every normal country. thus (for the time being) no meds for patients in need. but political points are (supposedly) scored. so does anyone (aside from the kosovar posters) get my point?

i would like to add a word about doctors, and the wars of the former yugoslavia. i interviewed svetlana broz at length about 4 years ago, and also since then. in case people don't know, she is a cardiologist, and a highly respected one at that. "so many of my colleagues broke their oaths and committed the worst violations during the war" (she was mainly referring to bosnia, but not exclusively.) i said, yes, Dr. karadzic... "no," she insisted, "not just karadzic.

With the EU providing funds in excess of 125M Evra to the "new" state of KosovO, the following actions need to be taken only if Russia's veto is rejected - which it won't be, but.....

*Serbia needs to help the SERBS find new homes & get out of there, obviously Thachi is blowing hot air for political gain & there is NO protection for the Serbs. The holy monestaries (what's left of them) are OFF LIMITS to anyone that is NOT SERBIAN.
*Serbia needs to cut ALL electricity, power, petrol to KosovO. If they don't do this, a bill should be submitted monthly to Thaci/EU/albania for payment to Serbia - after all this is now business, no more free rides. The month this payment is not made, CUT OFF.
*Any inhabitant of KosovO that holds a Serbian Pasos should be liable to the SERBIAN government. They should have 90 days to either revoke their Pasos or the newly implemented Pasos should be a mandatory requirement for all those who claim to be a resident of Serbia. This will not only gain employment in Serbia, but streamline who is true to Serbia & who is not.

By taking these small but valuable steps, the world will recognize the grave mistake they made in recognizing an independent Kosovo.

This behaivour coming from the Albanians is appalling. I hope some major news agencies pick this up to show the world how Albanians are treating Serbians in their "new Kosova". From what I can see, Xinhua in China have already picked it up.

Well, maybe Serbs are now trying to establish their own parallel government in Kosovo. They learned that from Albanians. Don't tell me that this will not be allowed now. If it isn't, all the stories about Milosevic, etc. you can forget about it. Albanians set up their parallel government during 90's and this was allowed. If they don't allow at least the same thing, UNMIK and Albanians have no right to even mention Milosevic any more.

I'm not too ofay with sovereignty of states and unilateral declarations of independance but how is it again that illegal institutions can be formed in Kosovo? Pay 5 euro permit for what, to who? The same criminals that have caused the majority of the K-Albanians in Kosovo to live in poverty?

A Serbian built hospital in Serbia can not receive medical supplies from Serbia. First this, next desceration of cemetaries...what are these US backed thugs going to do after this?

K-Albanians, better head back to the homeland because you'll be living in poverty for many years to come. Probably not much better in Albania at the moment anyway.

(Ratko, 13 March 2008 19:57)"

Ratko,

You made some very good points. However, there are more parties to blame than just the Russians (EU, NATO, US, UN). The problem in 1999 was that Boris Yeltsin was president of Russia and he owned a lot to the West. With a person like Putin 1999 would not have happened. Present day Russia has no intention to invade other countries and impose some political ideology (like the Soviet Union with communism). They just want to make money, invest it, and protect those inverstments (like most countries do, of course that does not mean that the life of the average person will get better, but that is part of human nature). Invading and occupying countries is just too expensive these days (ask the US about their experience and how it is backfiring more and more). The American empire will crumble and a stronger EU will need the US less. Serbia unfortunately got humiliated too much and that can only stop if Serbia will become strong again by uniting itself internally and politically, by choosing the right friends and creating strong alliances with supporting countires and by staying independent as much as possible (and by arming itself). It may not be a popular issue, but creating some kind of Russian base inside Serbia may be a useful thing (at least to discourage the US and NATO to be foolish again (read yesterday's article with the US embassador to Serbia who was openly threatening Serbia)). Kosovo's UDI will not last for ever and it is very important to let the Kosovo Serbs know that Serbia stands by them and that they will get all the help they need. The Kosovo Albanian will one day they will wish that they had accepted "the best autonomy in the world" that was offered to them, but that their masters refused. Serbia can hold the UN, EU, and NATO responsible if Serbian doctors in Kosovo cannot do their work and treat and cure patients.

These are pure provocations the the Serbs to cover up the uncoverable. Their main concern is not the delivery of some medicines but how to destabilise Kosova, how to create frustration among the Albanian population in Kosova. Then should there be any unexpected event then they will say "Kosova is unable to govern itself and responsibility is NATO and international community.
The best way forward is that the international authorities in Kosova together with the Kosova's government should assert their authority and make it very clear to the Serbian government that Kosova has its own government and state which rules.

Well folks, this is what happens when part of your territory becomes occupied by americans. First they bomb you, then they humiliate you for years and years. The only one to blame for this whole mess is Russia. They should have never allowed americans to set up a base in the balkans.

When Kosovo declared its independence, Mr Thaci promised to improve the rights of minorities. This incident shows that Thaci's promises were nothing but empty words....

Ment,

this Doctor is trying to do his duty but he is being denied the most basic right to carry out his duty and lives are being put at risk - hardly an inspiring message for human rights! If the UN can't ensure even thse basic rights then because of political interference then one has to ask who is blocking the UN and NATO had better act soon to get thse supplies in before others need to step in!

That 5 euro probably just cost you recognition from Bulgaria who conditioned it on the protection of minorities.

This behaivour coming from the Albanians is appalling. I hope some major news agencies pick this up to show the world how Albanians are treating Serbians in their "new Kosova". From what I can see, Xinhua in China have already picked it up.

Resolution 1244 states:

"The safe and free return of all refugees and displaced persons and unimpeded access to Kosovo by humanitarian aid organizations"

And the Ban recently said 1244 is still in force.
