Facts:

Under 25% of the population is Albanian. This is also an inflated figure.

Albanians can speak whatever language they want. OFFICIALY, only Macedonian should be spoken.

Macedonia has the best human rights in Europe. Albanian claims of oppression are only believed by the biased, ignorant and dim-witted.

Albanians are after a "Greater Albania" and not human rights. It is so obvious. They already have full rights and MORE!

This departure from DPA has nothing to do with the Albanians. It is because of the name issue. USA has pushed this event.

Instead of contributing positively to real issues like the economy (Which will help Albanians), Albanians work on creating a "Greater Albania" under the cover of "Minority Rights".

The Gruevski government has been the best Macedonian government since independence. The economy and image has improved significantly. Instead of Albanians contributing to this momentum which will help themselves, they accuse the Gruevski government of being a regime and dictatorship just because they focus on the real issues that will help the people.

You will never get a "Greater Albania".

We all can learn from past experiences now and timely put a halt to the Albanian 'Emancipation'. Albanians cannot fool anyone anymore. Moreover, the US has no self-interest in Macedonia, therefore they won't receive diplomatic support from them, which makes them a loud bunch of 'nobodies'.

Dimitar

Macedonia will join NATO, its part of US's plan! It'll come at a price, though greeks will not get entirely their way either. For US, it's an issue of control
( and cash ); creating a "country" out of ashes-"Kosova" is expensive, and they don't need instability in Macedonia, raining on their parade! Unless, of course, they instigate it, such as the current debacle with Taci, a blackmail tactic by US to get us into a corner and change the name! Nor will Macedonia, or ethnic Macedonian identity disappear, in this way, US has a card up it's sleeve against greece, bulgaria, albania etc.

Eagle

Right on Mr Thaqi. I can't believe that Macedonia is thinking about joining NATO and EU when Albanians over there do NOT have their rights. Over 35% of Macedonia is Albanian and they dont have a right to use their flag, not allowed to have equal number of kpbs om public sector as their percentage of population, use of albanian language, recognizion of Kosovo etc, well i guess this answers the question that they should leave a government coalition with Gruevski ASAP. Then, Macedonia will see if it can join NATO or EU.

why cant i speak my language in public in USA,canada, australia, everywhere i go i speak english,im in that land thats what i speak, now albanians are in macedonia they speak macedonian, thats the language,if they want too speak albanian, they can go back too albania, what about the macedonians in albania?,cant they have a language macedonian in the country?,why isnt there a second macedonian language in albania?,if they want too live in macedonia they can live peacefully,if not they can go back too albania, there is no country that has a second language, its only 1 language and thats it,and gruevski will never give a albanian language!

Dimitar

Are Albanian posters deliberately uninformed or could they simply care less? Hey," Balkan Update", what has Macedonia ever done to any of it's neighbors? Painting Macedonia as guilty of all Balkan chaos is typically Albanian tactic; a people who do not seem to understand the concept of self responsibility, and think only of their own interests at the expense of all of their neighbors!

Ahmed; nowhere in Ohrid Accord does it stipulate that the whole country is to have Albanian language as official 2nd language, but only in areas where Albanians are 20%. More former Swiss schizophrenic Ahmeti's blackmail, etc etc.

Current events in Macedonia are result of US/EU support of Greater Albania movement, and crybaby greece's infantile demands ( also US/EU supported ) to destroy Macedonian ethnicity, nation and presence, so that they can once and for all be free of their guilt concerning the Aegean Macedonians, and prove to one and all, that they are indeed the " legitimate heirs to Ancient Macedonian heritage".

Macedonia and Serbia, as always, are betrayed by the West, in order to stifle any possibility of Russian influence in Balkans. In short, the final chapter in the destruction of Yugoslav unitedness, and therefore "threat".

I predicted this a week ago:

(BalkanUpdate, 5 March 2008 20:48)
Macedonian Government is starting to rub the Albanians the wrong way. Do they not know that the Albanian parties can bring this government down at any time by withdrawing their support? What will they do then? Start another war and promptly loose it? Keep in mind that the U.S diplomat has told the Macedonian authorities to “not set conditions” to recognize Kosovo. With all these problems, it doesn’t look like Macedonia is going to join NATO or EU anytime soon. They have problems with every one of their neighbors. Greek is bad, Bulgaria is bad, Albanian is bad and now Kosovo? I am just saying, maybe they are the problem? The trend speaks for itself. Have they thought about that? Macedonia is not in any position to blackmail any of if her neighbors and let alone Kosovo. Or perhaps this is all for internal consumption? Parliamentary election anytime soon? Anybody?

One more time woundering why you albanians are creating problems wherever they are, moreover always crying the way they are treated. As far as I know you have a country so why so many of you left it and have no intention to return???

In some region of the planet so many have fighted for decades to have the right to exist, the right to have a piece of land, the right to live in peace but most them have not been heard yet and most probably will never be!!

So 'the so called patriots' albanians, wherever you are, pls stop bothering us with your boring never ending cries and complains, get your acts together, do something for your country and live your neighbours in peace and if you do not like the way you are treated where you are, then you have the choice, you have your country!!!

The Ohri or Ohrid deal was such an excuse for Macedonian's not to give rights to the Macedonian-Albanians.

Macedonia i openly discriminating against the Albanians in its territory. EU should not sign any agreement before Macenonia fulfills its obligations. Take an example from Kosova, we agreed to give full rights to minorities.

Through some ingenuity, I was able to uncover the list of demands of the DPA:

1) 30% of Macedonia
2) Skopje
3) Implementing their name-change suggestion to ease tensions with Greece: "The Former Slavic Republic of Macedonia"
4) a monument celebrating the "greatest leader of the Albanians": George W. Bush
5) more cool white caps
6) Recognize 'kosovhahaha' ALREADY!!

DPA was right to leave the goverment because Grueski acts as a dictator and failed to honour his agreements. The Abanian demands with regard to recognition of the Albanian language, more Albanians in public administration, kosova recognition, amnesty as agreed in the Ohrid agreement are just and necessary. What is wrong with political equality? What is wrong with being allowed to speak your own language?Grueski is busy trying to find a new identity for his fellow slavs but we're Albanians and we don't give a
toss about his quest for new name and identity.Unless our demands are satisfied fully there will be difficult times ahead.
