Two very well thought out posts.

With regards to your quote, I don't see how your endless stream of rhetoric and propaganda makes you part of the solution, so you must too be part of the problem.

For the most part, well said Nikola.

People ARE led like sheep by political parties and they sadly do not think about the betterment of the country. They are too busy talking from their stomachs to think straight.

What DID Serbia try (with the exception of an attempt by Zoran Djindjic before he was murdered) to solve the Kosovo problem since 2000?

Why ARE people too proud to admit these mistakes and continue blindly in the same direction?

I would not go as far as you on Russia - as Serbia needs any support it can get. At the moment however, rather than Serbia getting the best out of the deal with Russia, I'm getting the feeling that Russia is getting the best out the deal - with the bargain sale of NIS for example.

I also don't agree that Montenegro could have been 'saved'. That was a political project begun by Djukanovic long before 2000. And although I condemn any acts of violence I think that the instability / unrest in this part of Europe is not actively being caused by Serbia. The unrest is a response to acts committed outside Serbia - that means the international community has a large share of responsibility for the crisis here.

Nikola,

don't despair, sure vent frustration but as I read your comment a phrase kept coming back to me again and again and I hope you don't take this the wrong way but get positive and think about this phrase;

"If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem "

- it touches on many frustrations you might have but channel that frustration and help create the solutions is the best way we can all move forward with!

Lets make no bones about it. This whole situation – the loss of Kosovo, the break up of the coalition and now the transparent possibility of Kostunica joining forces with Nikolic, has all come about through our (the Serbs) lack of direction. I read with great interest many of the intelligent replies to articles here on B92 but they, like this one too, are all words and no trousers!

We are plagued through our history with the inability to work together for the betterment of the total future of our country and her people. We are led like sheep from pillar to post by governments who would find it difficult in organising a birthday party – let alone a political agenda and while all this is going on, others – The Albanians, the Americans and the EU are busy spinning their webs of political intrigue.

Where the hell was our political lobby in the heart of the EU over the last few years? Where were our bag men paying off politicians in order to secure a positive result for Serbia when the excrement finally hits the fan (anyone with a tiny iota of intelligence must have seen it coming)? No, no, no – we are much too proud for any of that. We are too busy ripping strips of skin off each other in a political frenzy that is an open embarrassment and gives any opposition masses of time to organise their own programs to the detriment of Serbia and her people.

Instead of getting right to the point at the very beginning, or even after the killing of Djindjic, we just spent our time fighting each other in total oblivion to the current situation, which has always been present and just waiting to pounce.

So now we are left with a very real possibility of seeing any bit of European integration going down the pan with a coalition between the DS and SRS. We also have to be thankful that we also have uncle Putin on our side. No wait, that was uncle Jo Stalin – this time it is Tzar Putin and his global democracy that even the so-called Crown Prince of Serbia has sucked up to. So does this mean when the next war is over, we come out as the winners?

I love my country and I love her people but our variety of governments stink and that is going to cost each and every one of us at the end of the day. We got rid of big bad Milosevic and gave ourselves a democratic future, which we put into the hands of incapable fools pretending to be politicians. Now, eight years down the line – eight years!!!! That is a total of 2920 days, we have managed to do NOTHING to safeguard our Kosovo and our people there but we have achieved in killing one Prime Minister, losing Montenegro and creating total unrest in the entire political arena of Europe. Rock on!
