Indeed there are pros to the EU when it comes to economic development, infrastructure development and standardized methodology when it comes to services, agriculture and industry, also open borders.

I just ask because since Poland, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria have joined the EU, all countries suffered huge rises in prices (disproportionate to wages) and a large brain drain with many qualified young people fleeing westward (causing shortage skills in them).

Maybe Poland just had a bad beginning with regards to the EU and that's why I am a bit cynical and don't under Kosovo's perspective, I was just asking out of curiosity.

Keep fighting, Serbs! When the us suffers a train wreck in iraq, Kosovo's independence will derail along with it. bush will leave a mess that his successor will be unable to clean up. Wait until the us state department asks the american taxpayer to give 1 billion dollars to Kosovo.

"miri, so you want to leave Serbia if she joins the EU?"

No personal questions please!!

Right now I am "above" Serbia, not within Serbia.

"miri

I have a question for you and all Kosovo Albanians:

What is it about the EU that you guys find so appealing?"

Well Peter, the short answer is: "We are poor and small"

The long answer would be:
"We want to join EU for all those things that other countries have found appealing, including Poland"

Thanks for the question, I take it is an honest question.

Your vote has been recorded thank you for participating.

Peter you can see that I voted your eassy question.

We Kosovars are similar in these matters like Poles, want security, peace, stability, and economic development.

Most of these that I mentoined
can be more easily achived if we are in EU.

Not much time to elaborate this further.

Tadic should really dissolve this government and parliament and get Serbia ready for new elections. As things are right now, there are two cooks (Tadic and Kostunica) in the kitchen and in my opinion that is one-too-many.
Chances are, the outcome of those elections will be irrelevant to Kosovo Albanians anyway, but at least Serbia will get a chance to make a clear choice about how it wants to handle the loss of Kosovo and which way it will want to go, EU or Russia.

Evidently the Serbs need to be more consolidated now. This is a critical period in your history when you need a national leader whom most of you trust. Someone who can unite the nation to face the severe challenges you have to meet.

Something tells me it may be duet of Nicolic and Kostunica. Best if they run for the Parliament together. Otherwise the coalition will not be steady. I am not sure but I believe that such a coalition would have better chances for EU membership in a few years.

No dobt a lot of things will depend on the situation in the world. And if it changes for better you will need a unity of the national minded elite to use the situation for your favour.

There is already national unity on Kosovo.
If Kostunica's idea of national unity is for us to uncritically fall behind him and agree with all his policies, he better wake up.
He is neither Csar Dusan, nor Josip Broz and we live in a democracy where issues are discussed not swept under the carpet.

I am fine on confirming the policy we have had for years as you Kostunica said but some of us are deviating from EU integration policy which we agreed.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't exactly the Serbian national disunity that proved Serbia incapable to freeing itself from the Ottoman rule in several attempts in the 18th and 19th century, i.e. before the Balkan Wars. I remember I've read somewhere that there were also cries for national unity then.

Why would they be any different today?

Just a thought ...

king of confusion and founder of "united nations of serbia" ... could someone explain to him: the EU is neither HIS organisation nor does it work like a bingo gambling hall!
