He certainly wasn't calling for peace a month ago when he called the Serbian government to purchase Russian guns and start a war in Kosova/o. If you find an instance when Gandi did that give me a call. I would really like to know.

And if you really can imagine a militant Gandhi.. small wonder given the origins of your K-albanian 'pseudo-state'.

As an atheist and a Kosovan-Albanian, I am upset by the power the Serbian Orthodox Church has had for a long time now. Some of its priests have recently suggested that the Serbian government should engage in armed conflict over Kosovo. It is ridiculous!

Kosovo is a whole lot more secular place than Serbia itself, and honestly, I am very glad. Hopefully, one day reason will prevail, and the Serbian government will realize that the Church shouldn't have that kind of power that currently enjoys.

Religions are not peacefully, but divisive.

Bishop Artemije is correct in his stance. Why would the Bishop of Raska and Prizen and Kosovo and Metohija want to bring the SOC in Kosovo into contact with falseness and illegality.
For years Bishop Artemije has been explaining that Kosovo and Metohija is Serbia and why it is, and has offered solutions, and it has all fallen on deaf ears.

"so far I have not seen or even heard any Albanian religious figure involved in this"

Not true.

In 2007, Kosovo's top Islamic leader, Mufti Naim Ternava, traveled to the US to drum up support for Kosovo independence.
When he preached in the Detroit area he said, “Thousands of miles away from here, there are Muslim brothers in Kosovo who suffered and who are close religious brothers with you." He went on to advocate for the independence of Kosovo and say, "thousands of people…went as shahids(martyrs) during all these sufferings"
Mufti Ternava also urged the crowd to follow the teachings of Islam."Islam is such a comprehensive religion which includes all what the family needs and what an individual needs in this world," he said. "Help others to understand it. Teach it to others."

So, as the per the definition, those who perished, or "shahids", were martyred in the cause of Islam?
Seems that the practice of Islam is alive and well in Kosovo.

It is no secret that George W. Bush listens to leaders from the United Methodist Church. Why do you think that Bush is against embryonic stem-cell research? At present, right religious leaders do influence politics in the USA.

I am quite appalled at the naked cynicism on display here by the K-Albanian posters.

What we have here is a religious man undertaking a form of non-violent protest by boycotting the Pristina institutions. Pure and simple. This is the kind of thing that Gandhi did.

I thought that Albanians, not Serbs, are the ones who are portrayed as "religious fundamentalist". I have seen this thesis used by many Serbs, but so far I have not seen or even heard any Albanian religious figure involved in this. Further, I have not seen any Albanian during the independence celebration, even mention any religious words.

It is a principle difference between head of state to make a decision base on his religion and head of church (or any religion) to interfere in decision of the state affair.
This short answer should make it clear Marco.

Maks,

Your comment "Doesn’t the Serbian church know that state is separated from Church and church is not supposed to do politic but to look after God related work?" deserves a comment. You must know that your best buddy George Walker Bush is a "born again Christian". He has repeatedly told the press that many of his decisions, including the Iraq invasion, were based on his Christian convictions...

Oh yes, that would really hurt the spiritual needs of Muslim Albanians who are queuing up in droves to enter the Serbian church.

Let's get things right for God's sake. The Church instead of trying to get people together and ease the situation is further encouraging sick nationalist feelings! I don't see any Godly behavior here! What is really troubling is that they are preaching Hate, Fear and Disunity! Should we call that "religion" or "fundamentalism"? It's Amazing what they are preaching!

In 9 years of NATO and UMNIK`s power of Kosovo, only thing they did was watch 156 churches burn and thousands of Serbs killed and hundreds of thousands run out of their homes. So siding with them is telling albanians-oh yeah you were right.
Church has every right to decide whom to let in and godless should stay outside..

Mike

Well I didn't really think the SPC and Pristina had any ties to begin with, so severing contact seems pretty symbolic. What remains to be seen however, is how powerful the SPC will be in Kosovo Province particularly in Serb enclaves south of the Ibar. Belgrade may run the show in the north, but the SPC, as it has been numerous times in the past, ends up being the default government when there is no formal government present.

Why do I care? Why does Prishtina even have ties with churches? Separation of church and state.

I hate these "churches", they wanted to build a wall around the churches I said to myself "ok", but when they build it outside its territory and into Kosovar's land I was upset.
