Peter,

"…The EU worked once, but it is becoming a second USA,…"

Yes, it is a great pity. I used to be a supporter of United Europe, which I imagined would stand for peaceful cooperation among the nations, balanced development of societies in a social - democratic style, with a chances for everyone to develop his full potential but at the same time crate social justice and protect the weak.

Instead of that, we are getting Europe of big multinational corporations who are transforming EU according to their interests at the cost of the common people everywhere. I'm not supporting this.

Dissenting views are also posted here, but yours are generally offensive, because you have an issue with the Serbs which you like to make clear here, for some reason.

The EU worked once, but it is becoming a second USA, and this is not encouraging to see, that they are forcing other countries to accept their policies. It once wasn't like this at all, but alas, the world is changing. One day we will all be part of a uniform world where culture and history matters no more.

“…All these years the Serbs were making steps toward the EU while Europe always put new terms for the integration with zero progress as a result ! I think it's high time for the Serbs to realize that the direct route to the EU is still blocked. But if you use the advantages of your special relations with Russia to give an impulse for your own economy and play a more significant role in the European energy market your chances for the EU membership will increase ever so much…”

When one looks at everything they did to us, it’s obvious that we could not expect anything good from US and EU. We have to behave accordingly. Forget EU, develop relations with a friendly countries – Russia, Greece, China, India, Brazil, Venezuela… World is big place!

Arben,
“…believe that Harward should revoke degree given to him, because the way he is acting resembles more Russia/and Venezuela school of thought. …”

What’s wrong with a Russia and Venezuela? Are you prefer US gun boat diplomacy, which killed millions of innocent people all over the globe in last 60 years?

Peter,
“…The EU is really starting to disappoint me when it comes to political affairs.”

Yes, it should worry you. EU is changing fast, for the worse, not only in its foreign policy but also domestic policy and economic model. Sophisticated, human, social – democratic system which protected the weak an created harmony is under the attack in EU and something more like rough US system is coming into its place. It will not work well in the European context.

NATO "accidentaly" bombed a embassy. How the hell do you "accidentaly" bomb a building in the middle of an open area that isnt close to any Serbian military targets? But at least they didnt throw any stones or break a window

All these years the Serbs were making steps toward the EU while Europe always put new terms for the integration with zero progress as a result ! I think it's high time for the Serbs to realize that the direct route to the EU is still blocked. But if you use the advantages of your special relations with Russia to give an impulse for your own economy and play a more significant role in the European energy market your chances for the EU membership will increase ever so much.

Still the EU warning means that facing the utmost collapse of their Kosovo politics they are going to counter attack Serbia to drive the attention to the new items of confrontation.

It means that Serbia should not make mistakes and must conduct the battle inside the frame of the existing international legislation. No more violence in Belgrad ! The riot has played a good role to attract the attention of the mankind but if continued the same way it will only harm you. This battle is to be conducted with burning hearts but with cold minds.

Ratko,

My comment to you was apparently suppressed.
It looks like dissenting views are not tolerated anymore.
B92 is it your new policy since February 17?
Did you receive some directives from Kostunica?

This tactic by the EU is to accuse the opponent of what they themselves are doing to divert attention. More and more spin coming out now.

It is quite obvious the EU and US are using the embassy issue to divert attention from the flagrant disregard of the UN Charter and International law.

In this case the government needs to be very active and vocal. It needs to reverse every accusation made back to them.

The Serbians are rightfully complying with international law and rejecting the law breakers.

EU reminds me more and more of a rapist who treatens with violence after a rape.
Do they really think that Serbia should lay down and die slowly or else they are coming with bats to finish the job.

This is the inceptive process toward Serbian isolation. More to come in following months....either on our way or in highway:)

So what does EU want to do? Punish Serbia or welcome it into the EU?

I wish they would make up their minds. They threaten a lot but then say how much they want Serbia with them.

Serbia will be more than happy to join up once they give it due respect. Who wants to join a club where they will be robbed, humiliated and threatened?

Looks like they need Serbia more than Serbia needs them, otherwise they would just simply cut Serbia off right now.

What else the EU expect from Serbia? They must play by EU rules or else? The EU may change the political status of a region, but they can't change the minds and hearts of people! The government has not explicitly ordered people to go attack embassies and border posts, so how does the EU expect the government to suppress its own people because of an organization who acts against Serbia's interest? The EU is really starting to disappoint me when it comes to political affairs.

“Inflammatory rhetoric that fuelled the riots”- so I suppose European “friends” expected Mr Kostunica to say nothing in order to make them happy.

Why they don’t just accept the fact that Serbs are passionate people who stormily react on inflicted injustice. It is our passionate nature! Everything we do, we do it with passion! After this injustice in the terms of grabbing the land, all we have left are the words. We accepted that we cannot go to the war against the half of the world but we cannot accept silence in order to make thieves and rapists happy. All we have now are the words and talk that is our only tool to fight for justice. Now, our lovely Europeans are not happy even with that and would like us to shut up forever.

Well, it is good as long as they only send harsh demarches. I personally could not care less for their harsh demarche. At least they are not hiding behind the bombs now. Or, who knows, if we continue with inflammatory talks, our friends might even consider that option in order to make us silent for a while.

But I can see Serbia’s pro Europeans are worried to death because their masters from Brussels got upset, and maybe they will ask their friends for the bombs in order to strengthen their shaking position.

....so an embassy or two got damaged - surely it's only collateral damage? After all didn't NATO bomb the Chinese embassy during the bombing campaign against Serbia...and any other civilian casualties are called "collateral damage"

"We should not seek to sour relations with the EU any further as, sooner or later, they need to get back to normal, as Serbia depends economically and politically on the EU to a large extent,” the analyst pointed out.

Is that true? That is a question mainly for the Serbian panel here.

Kostunica and his followers must be thinking "Who cares about EU as long as we have our big brother Russia"))

I would like to think that Kostunica and Samardzic are a minority in Serbian politics.
