I would like to point 2 things out
1. Why would Kosovo nead a seat in the UN, when Albania already has a seat (Is a separate Kosovo state the final goal? I dont think so, still recognizing Kosovo by the UN, would be convinient since nothing prevents Kosovo and Albania to unite into one country)
2. Most Albanians in Kosovo live better that those in Albania
Nobody said that Kosovo will have a good economy!

Such comments should not be seen as threats but rather the truth being spoken by members of the UN that respect the laws of the very group they are a part of.
With Russia and China firmly opposed to EVER recognizing Kosovo then the United Nations would forever be out of reach.
Seeing that China and Russia are the only permantent members of the security council opposed to the illegal declaration than maybe nations such as the US, France and Great Britain should exclude themselves from the UN seeing that they refuse to follow the rukes and regulations set.

Its the K-Albanians that lose with Kosovos independence.

Kosovo with broad autonomy:
-Join the EU as part of Serbia by 2012
-Serbia continues paying Kosovos foreign debt.
-Kosovo Albanians could have control of schooling, police force, all those other things.
-Kosovo would recieve funding from Serbia for various public programs.

Kosovo Independent:
-High fuel and electricity prices
-High price for food
-EU is planning to send a mission, that is reform the police force, judicial system, etc. They arnt planning on investing money or helping the economy. Now it seems unlikley they will even do that
-Businesses from the countries that dont recognize Kosovo wont invest in Kosovo.
-Kosovo will have to somehow pay a 1.5 billion dollar foreign debt, with an economy in shambles(what? you think the EU is gonna shell out some cash for this?)

But look on the bright side, Kosovo did get a shiney new flag.

Kosovo albanians seem to think that the EU supporting them means they will invest serious money into Kosovo. This simply isnt true. Take a break from hating Serbs for a second and look at the situation as an economist. You have a country with unemployment at 50%, no schools that teach skilled trade, The strong opposition from Russia(which controls 30% of Europes gas, and 20 % of the Worlds gas reserves), high corruption and organised crime, majority of the worlds population dosent recognize Kosovo. If you were a company would you honestly think about investing in Kosovo?
But unfortunatley, most Albanians are too busy talking about the past, and hating Serbs to realize this. The truth is Europe and US dont care about what happend in 1999, how many Croatians, Serbs, Bosnians, and Slovenians are still talking about the 90s? They are building up they're economy, and infastructure to get over the past and look towards the future. Kosovo is the only place where people are still talking about the past and dont bother seeing that Serbia is they're future. I dont see the EU or US jumping at the chance to take over Kosovos foreign debt.

1. Kosova is a democratic republic now

2. Russia is the only permanent member who has vowed to veto..an exchange such as no rockets for Kosova in UN is possible

Don't say "never" when the future could unfold something else.

What most people do not realize is that the bipolar world is over. The EU is emerging itself as a major player in international affairs. A new order is being established. The U.S wants EU to take a more active role in the region, as does the EU. Russia's latest political statements are a futile attempt to portray itself as a major actor in the European affairs, as it did once before. Serbia needs to turn towards the EU because of its geographic proximity, and not turn towards Russia. Even Tito was smart enough to understand that mistake.

'However, Kosova has to wait for a little longer'

you can afford that, can you :)
you will wait for that unemployment figure to hit 90% then you'll ask for un membership?
face the reality of your situation. kosovo is borned :), a sick creature on life support, thats your nato, eu. it needs to start breathing presto, and that would be membership in un, which says a territory is in fact a country, legitimizes it and its institutions, allows other to deal with it, economically first of all. the air here would be investment, not aid. but there's no un membership, no air. but you can wait? do you mind me asking, for what to happen? :)
even serbia which is a real country, finds it hard to attract investors when there's any doubt about stability.
imagine kosovo. run by un, no eu? no, nato? we dont know, see eulex-russia-unsc controversy, giant controversy. what are its borders? we dont know, see serbs in north. there is across the board agreement that it is the poorest territory in europe run by drug lords and criminal clans. there is strong talk of ties with middle east terrorism. corruption is not a problem like elsewhere, its a way of living. and at least two other sovereign states apart from serbia, are directly threatened by violent albanian expansionism, and they know it.
so now, which of those counties that recognized this illegal abomination in europe pretending to be a state have said they'll invest?
now i remember, albania has. in energy. its downright poignant, that one is :)
do you see how desperate your situation is?
you will be back at that negotiating table, or you will continue your blood feud against the region and start attacking police and civilians in macedonia and montenegro next. or don’t you already?
the mess bush created in iraq, who could have imagined that it would get so out of control and so desperate when it started? i think even those who criticized it could never imagine the size of that catastrophe.
i honestly fear what the future of the balkans will be.

Ahmet - UN Charter, Chapter 2, Article 4, Paragraph 2:

"The admission of any such state to membership in the United Nations will be effected by a decision of the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council."

As the vote is not a procedural issue (where the veto is not valid), a recommendation therefore requires the positive vote of 9 of the 15 members, and the consenting vote (either a positive vote or an abstention) of the 5 permanent members.

It is as simple as that. The text above does not mention the opinions of the individual members in terms of a recommendation to the General Assembly. It must be a decision of the actual Council. To this extent, membership is indeed impossible.

As for the argument about Switzerland, this is a complete nonsense. No one for one moment doubted the legitimacy of Switzerland as a state, given that it is one of the oldest countries in the world. There is no comparison between the two cases.

Why do you keep repeating that over and over again when you know it's wrong?

The General Assembly puts forth a recommendation (2/3 of them must agree with it indeed, which is also quite ambitious considering that not all that many countries have recognized Kosovo), and then it must be ENDORSED by the UNSC (9 of 15 members must agree, including ALL 5 PERMANENT MEMBERS of the Security Council!) Shall I repeat this for you again?

as far as i know there are 3 steps to be a member of the UN. First is to be approved by the 5 permanent members, second, if approved then it needs 9 out of the 15 security council members, third, if approved theUN general assembly needs to vote two thirds yes to be a member. it seems that in the first phase alone, the Kosovo membership is kaput. and in the third phase, it needs 128 countries out of the 192 to say YES. therefore i agree with the russian ambassador that Kosovo UN membership is next to impossible.

The economy of Switzerland is built on a highly secretive banking system. Every year, billions of Euro in illicit drugs money are channeled through this system. It does not surprise me therefore that the K-Albanians identify strongly with this country.

With this kind of US attitude to the UN, a legal solution can not be found.

The US has taken the role of the UN by trying to illegaly interpret its acts and recognize other countries.
Not only this it has taken the role of the judge and executioner at the same time.

Their is NO excuse for this.

1. Kosova is a democratic republic now

2. Russia is the only permanent member who has vowed to veto..an exchange such as no rockets for Kosova in UN is possible

Don't say "never" when the future could unfold something else.
