Rather foolish of the US. As most people know China was the first to shoot down a broken satellite with a missile. However in todays world the US military relies on satellites more than any other nation to help guide its military interventions. If this is to lead to a new space race only with weapons this time, they will undoubtedly have the most to lose from it. The US seems to be adopting one of those sci-fi ideas of machines replacing actual humans for battle. Well if thats the case they are in deep trouble in the near future, examples of Iraq and Afghanistan are proof enough. Mounting casualties with use of primitive technology from very primitive people (Terrorists). How is this all related to satellites? well if the US decides to shoot for space then others will follow and will use the same tactics as were demonstrated today by the US. Only deference is those nations are used to not having constant satellite surveillance and guidance systems.

This was not about dangerous fuel and never was about dangerous fuel

This was about spending 30 million dollars to show the world that the US can shoot down spy satellites.

Today's newspapers stated..."The US defence secretary has said that the shooting down of a disabled spy satellite with a missile shows the country's missile defence system works."

Unfortunately, the US government lies first and then tells the truth later.

How foolish.

Supposedly done for safety. However, me thinks the US military-industrial-think-tank complex figured this was a good opportunity to flex for the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China.
