"Serbia needs the EU and the EU needs Serbia"

wrong. Serbia does not need the EU. it would be good for both if Serbia joined the EU, but in all seriousness, Serbia does definitely not need the EU.

CEFTA is an important thing for Serbia, and the transit for russian gas is also relevant, but the EU... naaah.

as for the statements made by Rupel and Rehn: stupid, just plain and simply stupid.

but who will take them serious? at least the slovenian guy is doing what the US are dictating...as those lately revealed documents have shown.
so much for independence..my dear Albanians. even the Slovenians, do what they are being told, and you won´t even reach their limited level of "independence"!

let´s just see what future brings

all in all, the bottom-line is that that some in the EU still do not have the slightest little bit of an idea about who the serbian nation is at all.
they will have to learn it.
. and they will have to bear the consequences.

don´t worry Bob, this is not over yet, by far..

Serbia can and will very likely enter, and nobody can prevent Serbia to do so. it´s their land, that´s something completely different than being in a foreign country, like the US are in Iraq or Afghanistan...

the motivation is a completely different one.

and now, Serbia can count on Russia and China, which to my personal delight was provocated by the latest taiwanese statements.

the US are gonna lose grip here, and that is only a question of time.

and furthermore, some of those in the EU who were quiet before, will start thinking about what is more important to them a little stillborn toy-statelet or a developing Serbia in southeastern Europe.

let´s see what future brings!

Bravo Sergei! You have once again put those other foreign ministers, who are just puppets with no brain of their own, to shame. Everything you said is 100% bang on true, and no lawyer who is worth his weight can argue it. Double standards are at work with these anti-Serbian policies, where every other ethnic group in former Yugoslavia have the right to self determination except Serbs.
I look forward to the day, which is coming very soon my friends, when Russia recognizes Republika Srpska and sends in their own peace mission, maybe named 'Rusex', kind of like Eulex but different :).
Cheers!

The EU is making very bad judgement on deploying these troops. Moving forward, should this declaration become a unilateral decision, these member states have to address the following - based on the invaders status -

they have no country code
they have no flag
they have NO money
they have no electricity (that runs ALL day)

On the flip side, at least they are allied with their mother albania in being the #1 poorest country in the world.

Also, what guaranteed to the Serbs have from ANYONE that the destruction of holy monestaries, desecration of graves to name two will not continue.

NULL & VOID, just as this independence will be. Russia hasn't acted yet, but it will.....

"Serbia should reenter Kosovo with as many police as it wants and reenforce Serbian law"

HOW? Serbia couldn't re-enforce Serbian law even when they had the entire Yugoslav army in the ground. Serbia had its army for decades and still could do nothing to "enforce Serbian law".

Bob, do you actually have any answer to HOW?
I doubt it.

I am a strong believer in the EU, but not in this case. The EU has gone against its normal principles of negotiation and instead is using imposition.

I hope this fails and welcome anyone who makes the situation difficult for the the EU. They should not be in Kosovo at all.

This is not an East-West argument - and should not be misrepresented as one by the western press.

The EU action is well beyond the scope of 1244 and Serbia has every right to take no notice of any of the EU actions in Kosovo and even to resist them - with moderate force (the kind used by police rather than the kind used by armies or paramilitaries) if necessary.

As the IC/EU has gone beyond 1244 and have broken its terms, the situation is now changed. I think that this relieves many of the restrictions on Serbia in terms of the numbers of police it can send to the region and how it exercises its governance. On the other had, the IC do have to follow its terms. Serbia should reenter Kosovo with as many police as it wants and reenforce Serbian law.
