Any rally should generate immediate action that has a real effect in sending a painful message to countries recognizing "independent" Kosovo.

I would call on all citizens to withdraw everything except for one dinar from their accounts in any banks based in countries siding with the separatist Albanian extremists. Start a "run" on these banks and they will not be able to pay back all the deposits. Put the photos of people lining up at Societe General, CitiBank and Raiffeisen crying for their money on the front pages of all newspapers and the very next day all of those banks will have to close down.

Arrange for friendly banks from Cyprus, Greece, Spain and Russia to accept those deposits the same day, so no one has to walk around carrying piles of cash. The best thing would be to send a mobile Cypriot Banking truck to park right in front of the French, US, English and Austrian banks and empty them out completely.

But don't close your accounts. Leave them open with just one dinar in them so the banks must still bear the costs of administering them without getting to use any of Serbian depositors' money.

The banks of countries that are ripping Serbia apart must not be allowed to profit in any way from Serbia's economy... And this punishment must not come from Serbian government action but by a grassroots boycott, which would have much greater impact.

I dont know how thw world would react but definitely in Prishtina poeple are talking of the meeting back 20 from now when Sloba became Serb hero and than the destruction of Yougoslavia started. world might be preparing something similar in their reports form Belgrade.
In fact, it bring to my mind that too.
I really think that there is something more to this rally than Kosova. SRS ans SPS are the organising the rally so they might be attempting to bing the governemtn down.

Wasn't Nikolic going to resign from politics if Kosova declared independence? I thought he was going to go and spend the rest of his life in a farm? Oh, well what do I care.

Are they going for the Milosevic effect with these populist rallies?

Ok so a little bit of information for those wondering...

This demonstration will be very interesting. First of all to see how many people will turn out, then to see what kind of people will turn out.

I know that some schools have been closed, that some state workers have been given the day off and that free buses from inner Serbia are being organised. I also know that hooligans are prepared.

So the protest can go a number of different ways. It can be a large, peaceful protest, with the odd incident. Or it can turn into a mob, with the hooligans influencing those with a tendency to anger, to join them. I dread to think how many people could get hurt or how much property destroyed.

What could happen next? It is quite possible that if widespread disorder occurs, that a state of emergency will be declared. You guys can take it from there and do the predicting, maybe it wont come to this.

In the end it will depend on the instructions delivered to hooligan leaders. They are in contact with the security services. No, of course most hooligans just smash things up without thinking, but they are heavily influenced by their leaders.

How will the world respond? Whats the best message to send? You or I wont decide, but of course we will interpret...

(...) The church will also participate, all who are authentic representatives of our statehood. (..), Samardžić said.

!!!WOW!!! what state is this politician talking about? Iran? Pakistan? I really fear: as long as Serbia is represented by such politicians - which did not understand the principle of democracy - the country never will be respected.

Uh, it's going to get crowded at the Konj. Might be a bit more peaceful at Znak Pitanje...

People, remember, do not smash the city. And don't throw empty beer cans on the streets.
