Andy, I'm moving to Belgrade in August and my biggest issue is with all the smoking! Just as they introduce a smoking ban here I now have to tolerate it again!

I predict that Tadic will be forced out of office by or before the summer of 2008.

So far his response to the Illegal Independence of Kosovo is insignificant! All he needs now to do is to start make his speeches about joining the EU and he is FINISHED!

if things will turn ugly, i propose to divide serbia for a period of 10-20 years in two parts. one pro-EU where all serbs can be and the other for nationalists under russian rule, who can make war over kosovo.
and when they change their mind serbia be put together again. same like germany.

Of course that he calls for an end to violence. What has Serbia gained druing these days? Nothing!
I think that he has noticed that tomorrow SPS, SRS and DSS have planed something weird. That’s why he is not going to attend the gathering.

Andy

I travel to Belgrade often and there was never a problem. Though as Mike said, avoid the matches and check the FO site for advice. I would suppose that you have someone telling you where to go and where not to go since there are those kind of places as well.

Andy, if a Yank like me can walk the streets of Belgrade with no problem, a Brit shouldn't worry. Life goes on in Belgrade. The pictures from the riots speaks on behalf of less than 2% of the population.

Still, it might be best to avoid matches between Partizan and Red Star :)

I hope it does die down - I'm visiting Belgrade in March with my wife and daughter!

I've wanted to visit Serbia for a while and hope a family from the UK will be able to have a safe and enjoyable time in Belgrade.
