Bob,
I agree with your latter point about rewarding countries that reject Kosovo independence. This, as you say, should take the form of preferential treatment for locating businesses in Serbia. They could be given grants, for example, to help establish the business and low rates of corporation tax for a number of years.

My point about the countries surrounding Serbia is that if they recognise Kosovo it is the ultimate slap in the face to Serbia. The bad vibes would last for generations and this is very bad news when they're side by side. I see a tremendous future for the Serbian state so if for no other reason, self interest should deter its neighbours from recognising Kosovo.

As for confiscating companies, the US has the power to do this kind of thing. It would not be viable for Serbia to get into that if it hopes to build its economy. Refusing them preferential treatment would be more realistic.

I am already boycotting all Croatia,Slovenian,FYROM products.

To Marcus: First off please gives up some facts on your claims, second The Serbs have a spine and always put their pride and souls before money, I could care less about Anti-Serb companies in Serbia.

Tom, I believe that Serbia should copy American Burton Helms Act and confiscate foreign companies operating in Serbia and Kosovo. Serbia has more moral right to do this than U.S. has to block trade and communications with Cuba.

In today's world, money talks, appealing to justice walks.

Also, I believe that the businesses from the countries who reject Kosovo secession should be given red carpet status and others given classic red tape hassle.

This gentleman may be speaking out of self interest but he is making truckloads of sense. Let those in Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and others take note.

@ Dragan...
How convenient for you to forget that these "200 Croatian Companies" employ around 10,000 Serbs in Serbia (Slovenian companies probably add at least 15,000 jobs too). Economic cooperation is a two way street, so if you want to boycott all of these companies, don't complain if these companies withdraw their employment from your country ;)

Its too little and too late for the slovenians toabsolve themselves from their guilty role in the illegal UDI of kosovo. It is well known how the Slovenian goverment conspired with US and some countries in EU and helped the Albanians to bypass the authority of the UN.This is why at the EU foreign ministers meeting on the 18th of February they tried their best to ommit any reference on the UN from the common statement. It was only with the insistence of Spain that no common statement was produced.

“If Caesar falls, it would be better to be the last to stick a knife in his body, if it is at all necessary. I think that it is completely unnecessary to stab a dead body and share the blame with your blade, which the near and distant relatives of the murdered person will not forget easily. Revenge will follow, as it is a confirmed custom throughout history,” Gantar said.

All I can say is that this guy is 100% correct, but I would also add that the "cesear" here is more like a cousin.

Great article and it is on target! Slovenia is so small they should really worry about border integrity because italians and austrians can easily overtake its borders and declare the region their own.

Although I suspect he is being a little manipulative by tugging on the old heart strings - in order primarily to defend Slovenian business interests, I think he's right.

The Slovenian and Croatian interest would be to be among the last to recognise. Obviously the US and some EU countries will be pressing for one state from the former Yug to recognise Kosovo early on but these states have to support a rational self interested policy. If they do not business interests and re-conciliation will be harmed.

Serbian citizens, and Serbs all over the world, should boycott companies which recognize this illegal and immoral 'greater albania' plan. As you can see, the Slovenians are scared, not because they love Serbs, but because of money. There are 200 Croatian companies operating in Serbia, and these should also be boycotted if Croatia recognizes greater albania. I would also like to see preferential trade status to countries who are with Serbia, such as Russia, China, Greece, Spain, Slovakia, Cyprus, Romania....The message needs to be loud and clear - if you want to do business with Serbia then you must respect the sovereign, legal, borders of Serbia. If you don't, you will be shut out of the market.

It is amazing how Slovenia was leading the EU gang and intregal part of it doing the biding of the big members and most of all EU Brussels. Trying to convince even Russia that Slovenian as EU president its policies are for the best and the so called high ground of the European way meaning Brussels self serving ways. Now they are spooked panicked and scared what will happen to Slovenian investments in Serbia if their is a organized boycott of its company's.
