The closest-ever election in southern Cyprus has ended President Tassos Papadopoulos's five years in power.

Good riddance to Tassos Papadopoulos, a shady lawyer who got rich by helping Milosevic and his cronies launder the millions they stole from the people of Serbia (and from neighboring countries) through Cypriot banks and "front companies". None of that money has ever been returned or accounted for. Whichever of the (now former) Cypriot president's two competitors wins the next round of the elections, Cyprus is already a winner.
